The Jerusalem Post: Radical Islam Is, In Truth, The Normative Islam

Great article, please read it in full. It is worth repeating that when it comes to the “Religion of Peace” many still attempt to create a dichotomy of “good Islam” verses “bad Islam” when, in reality, all of Islam is inherently violent and destructive. Although there are Muslims who are peaceful, they are not peaceful because of their religion. They are peaceful in spite of it. Unfortunately, this is one fact that intellectually and politically atrophied leaders in the West all too often make a concerted effort to willingly ignore

Proverbs 10:6, “Blessings crown the head of the righteous, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.”

Qur’an Sura 9:111, “… They fight in the cause of Allah, so they kill and are killed …”

Qur’an: Sura 4:89, “… Kill the unbelievers [non-Muslims] wherever you find them …”

"... the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed" (Rev 13:15b).

“… the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed” (Rev 13:15b).

The Jerusalem Post – “When will we believe the threat in the words of Mohammed?  When will we believe the Muslims’ word when they proclaim their intention to kill us?  When will we believe that they proclaim their intention to wipe Israel off the face of the map?  When will we believe that they want to see the entire world including Europe and America, under submission to Islam and Muslim law?

After the Fort Hood killings of a dozen innocent people by a Muslim traitor, the Boston Marathon killings by two Muslim immigrant brothers and the beheading of a British soldier in May by two Muslim men in broad daylight, we have got to ask, what is there about Islam that stirs up these horrendous murderous actions?

We cannot forget the unbelievably horrible 9/11 destruction of the twin towers in New York or the destruction on the Pentagon in Washington, when more than 3,000 innocent people were killed.  We cannot forget the bombings of the train stations in Spain and England when scores of innocents were killed.  It is difficult for those of us who practice true Christianity to believe that human beings could be so blatantly murderous to plot and kill so many innocent people with no second thought or regrets.  They show joy when these murderous deeds are carried out.

Then too, we have to wonder why all the rest of the Muslim world heartily supports all of these incredible Muslim killings with massive demonstrations or at least with broad smiles.  It appears that not many Muslims disagree with what the murderers have done.  We cannot ignore how so many Muslim leaders keep loudly and unashamedly declaring their intentions to take over Europe and to ‘wipe Israel and the United States off the face of the Map’.

Why do so many Western political leaders keep trying to tell us that Islam is a ‘religion of peace’?  Bombings, explosions and mass killings are certainly not demonstrations of peace.  Do our leaders support them or are they so afraid of them that they continually insist on ‘political correctness’ most often at the expense of Christians.  Will they insist on PC all the way to the grave?

According to true Christian values, peace means love, kindness and compassion.  The Islamic definition of peace is to see the entire world controlled by Islam and cruel Islamic Sharia law.  Their kind of peace has most of the world in anxiety today and our Western leaders are doing little to counteract it.

Those who have made it their business to understand the fundamentals of Islam know that there really are no moderate Muslims in that they all are taught in the Qur’an to hate all infidels (non-Muslims) and to believe that jhad killings are perfectly acceptable and actually ordered by Mohammed himself. So, is there such a thing as ‘moderate Islam’ or ‘normative Islam’ as some want to call it?  Who is speaking for ‘normative Islam?’  We will not argue that there are possibly millions of Muslims who are peace-loving, who abhor violence and who are repulsed by the actions of the Fort Hood and Boston Marathon killers.  The questions come, are these people being true to the values of the Muslim religion and why are they not condemning the violence?  Why are they not speaking up? Why are they remaining silent?

Why do we never hear a universal repudiation of Islamic terrorism from Muslim leaders?  There are two possible reasons.  First, Muslims who may want to speak out against the killings fear for their lives.  Secondly, Muslim leaders consider killings to be the valid expression of Islamic jhad, sanctioned by their supposedly holy Koran.  This reminds us of some Muslim protesters in England a few years back who said, ‘How dare you call us terrorists.  We will kill you!’

From a Christian perspective, we might believe in fighting wars to protect the interest and freedoms of our country, but they are military campaigns, not holy wars.  Christians join our American military forces to help protect our country.  But no one thinks it is his Christian duty to kill Muslims, or that we fight wars to advance the Gospel.

There is something far weightier to consider.  Yes, there is widespread and rampant Islamic persecution of Christians today in countries like Egypt, Iran, Iraq, northern Nigeria and southern Sudan.  Christian churches and businesses are being destroyed and Christians are being slaughtered.  History tells us that this has happened before.  It took place in what some have called ‘the Golden Age of Islam’.  So Islam has been like this for many centuries.

Historian John Philip Jenkins writes, ‘As late as the eleventh century, Asia was still home to at least a third of the world’s Christians and perhaps a tenth of all Christians lived in Africa.  What happened to this thriving, intellectually vibrant Christianity?  It was virtually wiped out by violent Islamic persecution, especially during the fourteenth century, due to ethnic and religious cleansing.’  Islam became known as ‘the religion of the sword,’ and for good reason.

It certainly seems that ‘radical Islam’ is in truth the ‘normative Islam’ of today.  At the very least, Islam has a potentially violent core that is deeply associated with the fundamental principles of its violent faith.  This radical and violent core, with all of its terrorists and murderous intent, actually controls the entire religion today, as far as the world is concerned.  If they continue as they are, and they talk and act as if they will, another World War may be inevitable.

Why can’t our Western leaders believe this and why won’t they take a stand against it?  Are they leading in fear and ignorance?  Are they leading in extreme ‘political correctness’ until they get us to the point of no return?  Wake up, people before it is too late!” Source – The Jerusalem Post.

Excellent article. I am constantly amazed by even some “conservatives” that fail to identify Islam by the actions of the Islamists. It’s a whacky world!

Islam started since the first prophet (pbuh). And so did Islam continue to Moses (pbuh), Jesus (pbuh) and then the final prophet Mohammed (pbuh). God has send prophets to all nations at all times. So I think you don’t even know what Islam means.

You have to understand Regarding the violent Verses in the Qur’an according to their Context, where those verses Were Revealed, what was the purpose, and why they Were Revealed & What was the condition of Muslim & you have to be contextualize.

Verses regarding violence were Revealed during wars, or when Muslims were expelled from their homes, and killed, and butchered, then hose violence Verses were revealed to take Action against Enemy of Muslims and Islam !

Islam is a peaceful religion, terrorism arose in response to the massive killings done by the west in Muslim lands, starting with Afghanistan, and now the Arab world where the West is interfering now.

As a Muslim I’m taught that I have 2 kinds of brother, brothers in Islam, and brothers in humanity, that’s why I love everyone unconditionally. I believe in the truth and the truth is that Islam does not allow the deaths of innocents and you’re cherry-picking and misinterpreting and taking out of context. According to Islam, as a Muslim who studied it for more than a decade, is AGAINST the killings of innocents. Don’t judge a faith from the misguidance of others. It is a sin in Islam to kill innocent people including children, women and elderly. You are fooled by your media and anti-Islamists misinterpreting the sources of Islam.

    Iftikhara Greetings,

It would certainly appear that you do not have an understanding of Islamic thought. The Qur’an draws a distinction between Muslims and Kafirs. The Koran instructs Muslims to fight the “unbelievers.” Muslims are not instructed to fight a defensive war or fight when attacked. Islam teaches to fight those who do not believe the same way. You say you love everyone unconditionally. That’s great. But that is not what Islam teaches. Islam is more a political ideology of conquest than a religion. You say it is a sin to kill innocent people in Islam. The problem is that it is the teachings in Islam that say that kafirs are not innocent people. You say we are fooled by our media and anti-Islamist sources. My sources are the Qur’an, Hadith, and Reliance of the traveler on Sharia Law. My sources are from Mohammed himself. My prayer is that the God of Israel will open your eyes.

Iftikhara, “Islam started since the first prophet (pbuh). And so did Islam continue to Moses (pbuh), Jesus (pbuh) and then the final prophet Mohammed (pbuh). God has send prophets to all nations at all times.”

Hi Iftikhara, thank you for your comment. The Law and the Prophets ended with John (Luke 16:16), and was fulfilled with the true Jesus of Biblical Scripture (Matthew 5:17). We believe that all additional “law” from any self-professed “prophet” afterward is man-made and false.

As Christians, we have been forewarned by the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 11:4 against accepting the teachings of those who “preach another Jesus” or “another gospel” than that which we have already been given by the Apostles of Biblical Scripture. Whether it be the Jesus and teachings of Mormonism, or the Jesus and teachings of Jehovah’s Witnesses, or the Jesus and teachings of Islam, they all fall well short of the Jesus and teachings of the historic Christian faith that was delivered to the saints. In fact, if anyone “or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!” (Galatians 1:8). Yet according to Islam, the angel “Gabriel” gave another gospel to Mohammed which, instead of rejecting, he decided to accept.

Jesus forewarned His believers that “many false prophets will appear and deceive many people” who would even “perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible” (see Matthew 24:11,24). The Apostle Paul calls them “counterfeit miracles” or “lying wonders” in his epistle to the believers in Thessalonica (2 Thess 2:9) whereby many would be deceived. Not just a few, but a large number of people would be lead down a road of serious theological error by the false teachings, false signs and false miracles of false prophets. Have you wondered why Islam teaches that the Qur’an itself is a “living miracle”? Or why it is taught that Mohammed’s war victories and his ascent into Heaven during the “Night Journey” were “great signs”? Questioning these “great signs and miracles” and viewing them through the lens of critical thinking is paramount to questioning the “Word of Allah” to the Islamic mindset, and the history of Islam has been one of “anti-intellectualism” where Muslims are discouraged from asking difficult questions about Mohammed or about the Qur’an and its teachings. Why?

Iftikhara, “So I think you don’t even know what Islam means.”

Islam means submission to “Allah”. But it also includes submission to the “prophet” Mohammed. Please think about the following very carefully: One of the reasons why so many Muslims hate Christians and Christianity is because we associate Jesus with God, making Jesus a co-equal “partner” with the Almighty. According to Islam, this is called “shirk“ and is an unpardonable sin that Allah will never forgive. The truth of the matter, however, is that Islam itself also associates the “prophet” Mohammed — whom Muslims claim to be the most “perfect man” to ever walk the face of the earth — with Allah himself. On one hand, Islam teaches that Allah has no partners, but then contradicts itself by teaching that someone cannot become a Muslim unless they acknowledge that “There is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his messenger” per the Shahada. Unless one acknowledges Mohammed they cannot become a Muslim. Consider the following verses from the Qur’an and Hadith:

Qur’an Sura 4:136a, “O you who have believed, believe in Allah AND His Messenger [Mohammed] and the Book that He sent down …”

Hadith Bukhari 2996, “… [Mohammed] said, ‘Become Muslim and you will be safe. Know that the earth belongs to Allah AND His Messenger. I want to expel you from this land. Whoever of you has some property should sell it. However, the earth belongs to Allah AND His Messenger.’”

Qur’an Sura 3:31, “… If you should love Allah, THEN FOLLOW ME [Mohammed], so Allah will love you and forgive you your sins …”

You see, Iftikhara? In Islam, a Muslim’s “salvation” is therefore entirely determined by their obedience and devotion to Mohammed, effectively elevating the “prophet” of Islam to the same co-equal status of Islam’s own deity and making Mohammed a partner with Allah. To acknowledge the god of Islam is not enough. The “perfect man” Mohammed MUST be acknowledged alongside Allah as well.

Iftikhara, “You have to understand Regarding the violent Verses in the Qur’an according to their Context, where those verses Were Revealed, what was the purpose, and why they Were Revealed & What was the condition of Muslim & you have to be contextualize.”

Let’s take a look at a couple verses then and examine them in their proper contexts:

Qur’an Sura 8:55a, “Surely the vilest of animals in Allah’s sight are those who disbelieve [non-Muslims] …”

Qur’an: Sura 4:89, “Have no unbelieving friends. Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them.”

I’ll demonstrate why the “context” argument is a knee-jerk response from Muslim apologists, and an argument that they never seem to strengthen beyond the claim. With respect to Sura 4:89, the context is referring to violent jihad against non-Muslims. In Sura 4:95 we see how Mohammed was critical of “peaceful” Muslims who do not engage in violent jihad for Allah’s cause and calls them less worthy in Allah’s eyes. This alone destroys the Muslim apologist assertion that “Jihad” is referring to a “spiritual struggle” and not violent warfare, otherwise, why would the physically disabled be given exemption? Why would Mohammed complain about those who sit at home and “receive no hurt”?

With respect to Sura 8:55, where does the Qur’an teach us that non-Muslims are loved by Allah? As “Answering Muslims” notes: “Although Allah is said to love those who do good deeds (2:195), those who are pure (2:222), those who are righteous (9:7), and those who fight in his cause (61:4), the Qur’an is equally clear that Allah has no love for transgressors (2:190), ungrateful sinners (2:276), the unjust (3:57), or the proud (4:36). Even more significantly, the Qur’an states that Allah does not love non-Muslims:

Qur’an 3:31-32—Say [O Muhammad]: If you love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive you your faults, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. Say: Obey Allah and the Apostle; but if they turn back, then surely Allah does not love the unbelievers.

Qur’an 30:43-45—Then turn thy face straight to the right religion before there come from Allah the day which cannot be averted; on that day they shall become separated. Whoever disbelieves, he shall be responsible for his disbelief, and whoever does good, they prepare (good) for their own souls, that He may reward those who believe and do good out of His grace; surely He does not love the unbelievers.

Notice that 3:31-32 makes Allah’s love contingent on whether a person believes in Muhammad. This is similar to what we find in 19:46, which declares: ‘Lo! those who believe and do good works, the Beneficent will appoint for them love.’

Hence, although Allah is called ‘the Loving,’ the Qur’an only means by this that Allah will love people once they believe in him and obey his prophet. The god of Islam has no love for sinners and unbelievers.” The God of the Bible, however, loves sinners and unbelievers so much that He came into this world, manifested as one of us, to be the final and perfect Sacrifice for sin:

John 1:1, 14, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

John 3:16-18, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

Iftikhara, “Verses regarding violence were Revealed during wars, or when Muslims were expelled from their homes, and killed, and butchered, then hose violence Verses were revealed to take Action against Enemy of Muslims and Islam !”

This is not factually correct. In the Qur’an and the Hadith, the call to war for all Muslims is perpetual and open-ended. It is a call to arms for all time under the banner of Islam for the cause of Mohammed’s deity. Read this article for more information.

Iftikhara, “Islam is a peaceful religion, terrorism arose in response to the massive killings done by the west in Muslim lands, starting with Afghanistan, and now the Arab world where the West is interfering now.”

This is, again, factually incorrect, on many levels. As I wrote here, Islamic jihad has been the greatest mass murdering force in the history of humanity. As long as Islam has existed, it has never known peace. Bill Warner, director of the Center for the Study of Political Islam, stated during a February 2007 interview with FrontPageMag that, “Jihad destroyed a Christian Middle East and a Christian North Africa. Soon it was the fate of the Persian Zoroastrian and the Hindu to be the victims of jihad. The history of political Islam is the destruction of Christianity in the Middle East, Egypt, Turkey and North Africa. Half of Christianity was lost. Before Islam, North Africa was the southern part of Europe (part of the Roman Empire). Around 60 million Christians were slaughtered during the jihadic conquest… The Jews became permanent dhimmis throughout Islam. In Africa over 120 million Christians and animists have died over the last 1400 years of jihad. Approximately 270 million nonbelievers died over the last 1400 years for the glory of political Islam. These are the Tears of Jihad which are not taught in any school.” And the persecution of Jews and Christians, and the atmosphere of Islamic wars upon the earth, continues to this very day. In fact, since 9/11/2001 alone there have been well over 20,000 acts of terrorism committed in the name of Allah. A peaceful religion? Not in the least.

Al Bukhari Hadith 2977, “I have been made victorious with terror.” (Words of the “prophet” Mohammed).

Qur’an Sura 33:21, “Indeed in Allah’s Messenger (Mohammad) you have an excellent example to follow for him who hopes in (meeting with) Allah and the Last Day…”

    Religion of Peace?

Bible Isaiah 48:22, “‘There is no peace,’ says the LORD, ‘for the wicked.’”

Iftikhara, “I believe in the truth and the truth is that Islam does not allow the deaths of innocents and you’re cherry-picking and misinterpreting and taking out of context.”

Then let’s look at the most “peaceful” verse in all of Islam. Many people who try to call Islam a “Religion of Peace” quote a portion of Qur’an Sura 5:32, which says that “whoever kills a person, it is as if he had killed all mankind. And whoever saves one it is as if he had saved all mankind”. But they leave out the context. Here it is in full, with the most important part of the verse emphasized:

Qur’an Sura 5:32, “Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors”.

The context implies that it is wrong to kill someone, but then makes two vital exceptions: unless someone is killed for revenge, or unless they are killed for spreading “corruption” in the land. Since the teachings and beliefs of Jews and Christians and all non-Muslims in general are considered “corrupt” in Islam, the fact of the matter is that even the most “peaceful” Qur’anic verse is itself yet another one among many that devout Muslims use to justify the slaughter of non-Muslims (!).

Iftikhara, “According to Islam, as a Muslim who studied it for more than a decade, is AGAINST the killings of innocents.”

Unfortunately, Islam’s definition of words like “peace” and “innocent” are their own distorted definition. “Peace” in Islam refers to a world that is ruled under Sharia lawlessness. And “innocent” in Islam does not apply to Jews or Christians or non-Muslims in general. Anjem Choudhury himself acknowledges that “at the end of the day innocent people – when we say innocent people we mean Muslims. As far as non-Muslims are concerned, they have not accepted Islam, and as far as we are concerned, that is a crime against God… as far as Muslims are concerned , you are innocent if you are a Muslim – then you are innocent in the eyes of God. If you are a non-Muslim, then you are guilty of not believing in God.” (Read more).

Iftikhara, “You are fooled by your media and anti-Islamists misinterpreting the sources of Islam.”

It is not the media and anti-Islamists misinterpreting the sources of Islam. It is those who teach Islam that are interpreting it for us.

Iftikhara, please think about this very carefully. In light of the fact that even Mohammed himself did not know for certain what would happen to him in the afterlife, why should any Christian who knows beyond a doubt that they are guaranteed eternal life through faith in the Jesus of the Bible, give up the Christian faith of Jesus for the Islamic faith of Mohammed which we know will guarantee us nothing? You, too, can have the same guarantee that we as Christians share. All you have to do is believe in and put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. Since you sound sincere, would you sincerely be willing to pray with an open heart and ask God to guide you to His truth, even if that truth is found in the Jesus of the Bible, and not in Islam?

Islam will grow despite of strong opposition to Muslims in the west. Islam is not any new religion, Islam means to submit your will to one and true Lord, who is the Lord of the Thrones. Who sent Adam,Abraham,Ishmael,Isaac,Joanna,Lot,Joseph,Moses,Jesus and Muhammad( Peace and blessings of God be on them all),The Quran Honours Mary as the women chosen above women of all the nations and their is a chapter dedicated to her in Quran called chapter 19, Mary and Jesus(Peace be on him) was the mightiest messengers of God, he was born miraculously without any male intervention, he healed all the blind and sick by God’s Permission. And no Muslim is a Muslim if he does not believe in Jesus Christ as the messenger of God, and Jesus is coming back to this world, and this is our emaan our faith.Jesus says in the Bible that” on that day many will come to me and say, “Lord Lord have we not done mighty works in thy name, in thy name cast out devils. Jesus says” You evil people depart from me, I never knew you”.

Islam is a religion of peace love and JUSTICE. Muslims don’t and should not prove their innocence who believe that Islam is a violent religion. ISLAM today and after 9/11 has been the fastest growing religion in the WORLD. To be honest, nobody like unpeaceful religion… it seems that its impossible to gain billions of followers if a prophet was evil.. and it has decline the number of Christianity in the world.. Judaism as well.. the only war today was due to people that are greedy for power.. but in majority of Muslims view, politics is only for man who wants to challenge his life.most of us don’t like politics because later you would be put in trial in front of God..ordinary Muslims prefer to be away from it..

Allah our God said in Quran:”When You Are Greeted, Answer With A More Courteous Greeting, Or At Least Of Equal Degree.” (Surah 4: Ayah 86) Islam teach us ”to treat people the way we love to be treated” That what Mohammed peace be upon him said. and He also said ”Shall I tell you something which, if you did, you would love each other? Spread the greeting of peace between yourselves” all i am kindly saying that Islam is really a peaceful religion, please do not judge it before you understand it. If you want to learn about Islam, just read the Quran for yourself and look at Muhammad’s life and what he’s done. Islam is peace it never encourages violent in any way. Islam encourages self defence.

The Crusades were started by Christians in their desire to have sole control over the Holy Land and by the desire of the Pope, Urban II, to unite the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Church after the schism of 1054, against a common enemy, which was Islam, the Christian Crusaders had no desire to share the Holy land with anyone, in contrast under Muslim rule Jerusalem was a multicultural city with Muslim, Christian and Jewish communities, Jewish communities who had been invited back to Jerusalem by Muslims after the eviction of the Byzantine Empire and its anti-Semitic ban on Jews entering the city which had been imposed by the Romans after the Collapse of the Temple. Jews helped to defend the city alongside Muslims against the crusader army before they were massacred alongside the Muslims by the Crusaders. The Crusades aim was to capture the Holy land from the Muslim Arabs solely for Christianity, it was an act of imperialism, racism and Barbarism that the modern Western world is rightly ashamed of and now rejects, for you to seek to justify it is beyond belief, oh and btw the Mosque you are referring to in Jerusalem is the Al-Aqsa Mosque which was built on the temple mount, a site sacred to Jews that was destroyed by the Romans which has nothing to do with Christianity, and yes Christians subjected Jews to centuries of violent anti-Semitism, particularly during the inquisition when Jews and Muslims had to convert or otherwise leave, or stay and be burned at the stake as heretics.
