Christian Church In Iran Growing Despite Threats Of Death

“I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” – Jesus Christ

By Gary Lane, CBN News – “Iran’s new president has promised to protect the country’s Christians, but attacks are intensifying.

As they work to survive, CBN News was given an exclusive, rare view that few outsiders witness: a secret meeting of new Iranian believers in a neighboring country, not far from the border.

The brand new followers of Christ received Bible teaching and participated in their very first communion.

After a few songs and prayers, several were baptized. Then they returned to more late-night Bible study and training before returning to Iran.

For the first time, these Christians learned how to look up and memorize Scripture. They’re Kurds, former Muslims who converted to Christianity.

If their identities and location were revealed to secret police, Iranian agents would have come to arrest them. Some may have been killed for being apostates.

One former Muslim — we called Daoud — knows the dangers all too well. Before he became a Christian, Iranian police caught him eating a sandwich instead of fasting during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

That violated Sharia law. A judge ordered him to receive 70 lashes, a punishment similar to that imposed by the Taliban.

‘I was tied down. A mullah held the Koran in his hand and recited a verse and then a soldier beat my back with a cable,’ he explained.

‘It made me feel deep hatred against Islam and the Islamic Republic of Iran. All I did was grab a sandwich and eat it. Why is that a sin?’ he asked.

Later, Daoud met some Christians on the Internet who introduced him to Christ. He embraced Christianity after witnessing miracles of healing and deliverance.

Daoud keeps his newfound faith secret, while quietly and cautiously sharing Christ with others in his city.

‘Right now, it is really scary because if the government knows about it, I’m pretty sure they will execute me,’ he said.” Read more.

Flashback: Iranian Government Launches Public Campaign To Halt The Spread Of Christianity – “Iran’s Islamic leadership has launched a public campaign to halt the rapid spread of Christianity among Iranians, BosNewsLife learned Monday, September 2. The government’s think-tank and the Iranian intelligence service are organizing meetings aimed at debating the ‘conversion from Islam’ and to analyze why especially Iranian youth convert to Christianity, well-informed Iranian Christians said.” Read more.

Uganda: Islamic Sheikh Converts To Christianity, Muslim Relatives Develop Sudden Urge To Kill Him

04/10/2014 1 comment

Luke 21:16, “You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake.”

By Jeremy Reynalds, Christian Post – “Muslim relatives of a convert from Islam in a village in eastern Uganda last week tried to poison him to death, the Christian told Morning Star News.

According to a story by Morning Star News, Hassan Muwanguzi, who lost his wife and job as a schoolteacher shortly after his conversion in 2003, was hospitalized on March 31 in Mbale. That was after an aunt who called a family gathering in Kadimukoli village, Budaka District, put insecticide in his tea, he said.

‘After eating and taking tea, I started feeling stomachache, then I realized that she was the one responsible for it – and I believe she did not do it alone, since they have been hunting for me directly and indirectly, because when I left them and converted to Christianity it pained them so much,’ Muwanguzi said in an email.

He added, ‘The reason they want to kill me is very clear – it is because of being a convert to Christianity; above all, to them it is like I brought shame by converting, as a (former) sheikh. But to God the Almighty Father, this was His plan for me to expand His Kingdom.’

A physician who treated him, identified only as Dr. Rashid, told Morning Star News that the substance Muwanguzi ingested was possibly diazinon. That’s an organic acid used in insecticides, as his condition slightly improved under atropine, the antidote for diazinon…

Muwanguzi was invited to a special meeting to discuss family matters at the home of the aunt he accuses of poisoning him, Maimuna Time. She had mentioned the family needed special prayers for a daughter who was ill, Muwanguzi said.

The meeting was scheduled to start at 5 p.m. but was delayed until about 7 p.m., when three other relatives arrived. At 7:30 p.m. tea was served with bread. Immediately after taking the food, Muwanguzi began feeling slight pains that gradually increased, and he realized he could have been poisoned, he said.

He telephoned Bishop Kinyewa, who advised him that he should leave secretly, as he planned to get a motorcycle to take him to the hospital…

Following his conversion in his early 20s in 2003, Muwanguzi said his family immediately threw him out of their home, and enraged Muslims beat him. His wife also left him that same year, and he lost his job as a teacher at Nankodo Islamic School, near Pallisa.

Despite that, he opened a Christian school, Grace International Nursery and Primary School, at Kajoko, Kibuku District, 16 miles from Mbale, where the area’s population of 5,000 people is predominantly Muslim…

‘I knew if he were to mention to them that he was getting sick, they would harm him more,’ Morning Star News reported Bishop Kinyewa said.” Read more.

Romans 10:9, “… if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Luke 21:16, “You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake.”

Psalm 70:4, “Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; And let those who love Your salvation say continually, ‘Let God be magnified!’”

Morning Star News – “A dream of praying in a church frightened a recent college graduate in Uganda, the Muslim daughter of sheikh; she knew he was capable of seriously hurting her for such a religious switch.

Wenene Nuru, 23, of Iki-Iki township in Pallisa District, had been listening to a Christian-Muslim dialogue on ‘The Sonship of Jesus Christ’ on the radio before she had the dream on Feb. 28.

‘When I woke up from the dream, I became unsettled and terrified and could not tell my father, who is a sheikh [Muslim teacher],’ she told Morning Stare News. ‘I decided to visit a Christian girl, who took me to a birthday party. A visiting pastor from Jinja, Uganda shared about Christ being born in a person’s heart, there and then I gave my life to Christ.’

Nuru left that celebration on March 2 very excited. Like most converts from Islam, upon reaching home she kept her new faith a secret. The next day a neighbor who had attended the party telephoned her father, however, and informed him that his daughter had converted to Christianity.

On March 4, at about 8 p.m., her father, Nuru Rajabu, could no longer contain his anger.

‘My father began beating me with clubs and blows, and I started screaming in great pain,’ she said. ‘While I was down on the floor bleeding, my father went looking for a knife to kill me. A neighbor named Saleem arrived and helped me escape.’

She found lodging from a nearby church and was taken to a hospital the next day.

‘Wenene was hospitalized for a week at Pallisa Hospital,’ a source whose identity is withheld for security reasons told Morning Star News. ‘Now she is being housed by one of the elders of the church in Pallisa.'” Read more.

Pakistan: Former Muslim Shares His Stories Of Persecution After Coming To Faith In Christ

11/29/2013 1 comment

Matthew 7:7-8, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

When Masood knocked on the door of Truth, it was Christ who answered …

By Marian Rizzo, Ocala Star-Banner – “Buried alive, nearly beheaded and jailed numerous times, Steven Masood acknowledged he has many reasons to be bitter over the persecutions he says he suffered in Pakistan for having turned from his Muslim faith to Christianity. But after finding freedom in America eight years ago, he says he is filled with words of gratitude on this Thanksgiving weekend.

‘First of all, I am thankful to God,’ Masood said. ‘Had it not been for the food sent from America and Canada to the northern region of Pakistan, my generation, at that time, back in the ’60s, would have died. Secondly, I am thankful that these American missionaries brought us spiritual food. God already sent someone to die for me. So, I’m thankful for that, as well.’

Born into an Islamic reformist sect called Ahmadiyya, Masood left home at 18 to become a Sunni Muslim. Prior to that, he had received Christian Bibles in the Urdu language on separate occasions. They were immediately taken from him. Even though he continued studying the principles of Islam and memorized the entire Quran, Masood began to question the tenets of his faith. While a student of Islamic studies, he faced persecution from other college students for speaking out, he said.

‘I would say, ‘No, that is wrong,’ and I would get myself in trouble by telling the truth,’ Masood said. ‘One day, Muslim students at the same university drugged me and buried me alive in an open grave in the graveyard.’

Masood believes his escape was something of a miracle.

‘It was the rainy season,’ he said. ‘In the middle of the night, the monsoon rain came. The graveyard was at the bottom of the hill, the reservoir overflowed from the top. Not only was it full of water, but more rain came and washed away everything, including the grave where I was. I started breathing in and became aware that I was going to be drowned in the water. I was floating. I didn’t know how to swim. I started worrying about what should I do. There was a big banyan tree. I climbed in it and sat there. Anyway, God saved my life. The next day, I was reading in the newspaper that 238 people died because of the monsoon rain, and you can imagine, here I was alive.’

When Masood announced his concerns about Islam to his family, his father disowned him. According to Masood, his father dragged him by the collar into the street where a Muslim priest uttered a funeral prayer over him. His hands bound, he was placed on a donkey and was about to be beheaded when the donkey became agitated and ran off. Masood believes God protected him again that day.

Suppressing fear for his life, Masood continued to seek answers, he said.

‘The more I wanted to be a good Muslim, the more I had these questions, but there was no assurance for me,’ Masood said. ‘I was performing all the prayers and everything. I was studying the traditions of Islam. Mohammad said, ‘By works we will not be saved.’ So, people asked him, ‘What about you?’ And he said, ‘Even I, unless God covers me with his grace and mercy.’ So, here I was, searching for that grace and mercy. I was so upset, because nobody was telling me the truth.’

In December 1971, while India and Pakistan were warring over what is now Bangladesh, Masood huddled in the dark as shells fell all around. Afterward, he went to a church in Karachi. The pastor gave him a Bible and Masood spent the next two years studying it.” Read more.

Imam Embraces Christ: ‘I Started Reading The Bible, And Upon Its Completion I Was Absolutely Convinced’ That Christianity Was True

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the Word of God. If one earnestly seeks to know Truth, then Truth can set free even those who have been bound and held captive by the shackles of Islam. May the Author and the Finisher of our faith, He who is faithful to complete it in all who seek Him, continue moving in the hearts and minds of those who yearn for His Salvation …

1 Corinthians 1:18, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

Romans 10:9, “… if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”

Pravoslavie – “The Linga portal with the reference to the Spanish radio station Сadena Сope tells about the joys and tragedies of a young man who turned to Christianity from Islam.

Mario Joseph was born in an ordinary Muslim Indian family. His father prepared him—the third among six brothers—as a spiritual leader: thus, aged 10, Mario entered a Koranic school, and when he returned from it at the age of 18, he became an Imam-khatib in a local village Mosque.

However, the young man turned to Christ, and this choice made him a target even for his own father who, having known about his son’s conversion to another faith, threatened to kill him. Moreover, his father erected a gravestone in advance in a local Muslim cemetery with the epitaph containing the young man’s name and date of birth.

The Spanish radio station Сadena Сope managed to talk with this young Catholic preacher and learn certain facts from the history of his tremendous trials.

‘From age 18, I was an imam and regularly delivered sermons,’ begins Joseph. ‘One Friday I was fervently talking about Isa al-Masih [Jesus the Messiah], saying that He was not Allah. When I finished my speech, someone asked me: ‘But, after all, who is the Messiah?’ On that day I could not find a proper answer; my knowledge in this sphere was extremely poor’.

Again and again Mario returned to the Koran, to the Muslim Holy Tradition (the Sunna), to various commentaries of the exegetes of authority, but could not find the answer. To the contrary, he noticed instead that the only woman’s name mentioned in the Koran, was the Name of the Most Holy Mary; moreover, according to tradition Muhammad died, while Isa was taken to Heaven alive. ‘Then, after long thought, I decided to leave the dead one and to follow the Living one,’ explained the young man.

According to Mario, the choice was not an easy one: ‘Before making the final decision, I besought the Lord for a long time to give me true guidance… Once, still hesitating, I Read more…

Tunisia: Muslim Man Converts To Christianity, ‘In The Days That Followed I Lost My Entire Family’

Matthew 16:24, 26-27,  “Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me… For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?… For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.”

Tunisians du Monde via Islam verses Europe (Translation) – “My wife filed for divorce the day she discovered the Bible that I hid under the mattress. The news of my conversion then spread like wildfire. The youngest of my daughters has suffered psychologically because in school she was a regular target of ridicule as the daughter of the ‘kuffar.’

In the days that followed, I lost my entire family including, very painfully, the affection of my mother who now swore by my other brother, a ‘professing Muslim’ but an alcoholic.

My divorce was finalized in less than three months and I was ordered to pay my ex-wife a monthly pension equivalent to 400% of my income at the time.

My family and my country had left me! I then proceeded to go into exile in France.

… [W]hen I was hospitalized in a clinic in Tunis to undergo a major surgery, I had the honor to receive the loving visit of the Bishop of Tunis. As I was a top Tunisian official, my minister-in-charge was immediately informed of the visit and the consequences quickly followed.

Around me, all the medical staff fell in turmoil and I suddenly become the pariah that had to be removed quickly. Three days later, I was asked to leave even though I was not fully recovered from my rather heavy operation. The weeks that followed confirmed my professional career was done.

In the end, I ended up resigning and sank into a deep depression… [But] Never [have I ever considered turning back]… My faith was stronger than these daily obstacles…” Read more.

Sudan: Muslim Man Converts To Christianity, Relatives Burn Down His House

11/13/2013 6 comments

For peaceful purposes …

Luke 21:16, “You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake.”

Christian Post – “In Sudan the atmosphere for Christians is becoming increasingly dangerous. Since the secession of South Sudan, the government in Khartoum has made it clear that the country is a Muslim state that will be governed by strict Islamic law (Sharia). The government of President Oman Hassan al-Bashir has made it clear that there is no room for Christians. However, contrary to the desire of the government and society at large, there are Christians in Sudan who are holding on to Christ at great cost.

Moses (not his real name), 31, was born to a successful Muslim businessman in Sudan. As a young man, he helped his father run the business. Sadly, the father died when he was 16 years old. Moses’ mother remarried after a short time. An uncle took in the young Moses. But he was not an honest man. He grabbed all of Moses’ father’s property. When Moses protested, the uncle sent him to a state-run school for ‘problematic’ young people. Moses faced disciplining and Islamic instruction. He endured regular beatings and hard labor. After some time Moses escaped. He found refuge for a few years in a separate town where he made ends meet by doing menial jobs. Then he returned to Khartoum to live with his brother. But that did not last. When Moses and his brother had a disagreement about their late father’s property, Moses moved out.

One day in 2011, Moses walked past a church and noticed the cross. He unexpectedly felt ‘something stirring in him.’ He entered the building on an impulse and was met by a church elder. They had a brief discussion about the Christian faith. This one conversation led to a number of follow-up meetings. After two years of discussion, Moses accepted Christ. The regular discussions turned into discipleship sessions.

Soon after this, Moses married a Muslim woman, Aida. She regularly joined Moses for church services at the local church and Moses sincerely hoped she would follow him to Christ. But it did not happen. At first, the couple did not tell any of their families about Moses’ Christian faith. They thought it best to keep it a secret. But in April, Aida told her mother. Aida’s mother was furious. She spread the word. When she told her sons, they immediately went to Moses’ house and burned it to the ground. Moses lost everything in the fire …” Read more.

Second Chance: Muslim Man Has Brain Aneurysm, Converts To Christianity After Waking Up From Coma

10/01/2013 1 comment

Although coming to Christ will sometimes be a process that happens over time for many, the Author and Finisher of our faith will be faithful to complete it in all who seek Him. May the Lord continue to move in the hearts and minds of all those who yearn for His Salvation …

1 Corinthians 1:18, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

Hebrews 12:1-2, “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

By Morgan Lee, Christian Post – “Karim Shamsi-Basha was still a Muslim when a sudden brain aneurysm left him in a coma for almost a month in 1992. After the Syrian-born Shamsi-Basha made an amazing almost-complete recovery, his neurosurgeon, recognizing the rarity of what had occurred, told him that he had ‘seen very few people recover as you did. You have to find out why you survived.’

These would be the words that catalyze an almost 20 year journey that would eventually lead Shamsi-Basha to Jesus Christ.

Shamsi-Basha’s new book, Paul and Me, tells of this quest, and recounts how he spent close to two decades of his life discovering Jesus and learning his purpose, which he now testifies is ‘to share God’s love with people and let them know He loves all his children.’

Released last month, the book intersperses chapters of Shamsi-Basha’s own life and walk with God, with various theologians’ thoughts about Paul, one of the Bible’s most central figures, whose own conversion experience took place in the ancient Syrian city of Damascus.

Shamsi-Basha grew up in a Muslim family in a Syria he says was tolerant of all faiths. Indeed, his best friend was a Christian, the two were frequently at each other’s houses, and had all sorts of discussions and arguments with each other about faith, though no one ever succeeded in converting the other.

While his family practiced Islam culturally, Shamsi-Basha says he was ‘very serious in [his] teenage years.’

‘I prayed five times a day. I walked to the mosque before sunrise. I fasted the month of Ramadan,’ he added.

Tired of the corruption of the first Assad regime, Shamsi-Basha immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 to attend the University of Tennessee. From there he married, had his first son and moved to his current residence of Birmingham, Al. before he was struck by the brain aneurysm.

After his recovery, Shamsi-Basha began reading the Bible, struck by its focus on God’s love and grace, and was baptized in 1996 in what he terms was his ‘near-conversion.’

But, Shamsi-Basha said, it took over 10 more years, and the dissolution of his first marriage, the death of his father, homelessness and another failed relationship, for him to ultimately be at a place to fully accept Christ as his Lord and Savior, a process that is his new book’s focal point.

‘In 2008 I completely surrendered to God,’ he said. ‘Now I can’t get enough.’

Meanwhile, Shamsi-Basha now tells everyone he can that he credits Jesus Christ and the saving grace of God for his conversion. ‘Salvation is of the Lord,’ he firmly emphasized to The Christian Post, adding that God takes ‘credit for my conversion. It was the grace of God that saved me.'” Read more.

American Muslim Convert Leaves Islam And Returns To Christianity, ‘We Were Lied To … There’s No Happiness, No Joy’ In Islam

05/17/2013 2 comments

On his YouTube post Umar Lee writes, “I invite you to a faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ who died for your sins so you may have everlasting life.” May the Spirit of God continue to open more eyes …

Psalm 70:4, “Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; And let those who love Your salvation say continually, ‘Let God be magnified!’”

By Robert Spencer, Jihad Watch – “Umar Lee, a convert to Islam from St. Louis, was once enough of an Islamic supremacist to write to a rival: ‘i could cut your neck with the sword of islam and watch you squeal like a bitch like daniel pearl.’ In an email exchange with me, he endorsed the death penalty for apostasy.

But now he has left Islam and returned to Christianity. Watch the video; in it he makes many, many important points about how converts to Islam are lied to, and how Islam establishes an empire of fear.

Note especially this, starting at 4:04:

“We can talk about the grievance industry, CAIR, etc., trying to hype up the threat of Islamophobia. Islamophobia is very minor. You want to talk about religious bias? You convert to Christianity in Saudi Arabia, you’re murdered. You convert from Islam in so many Muslim countries, it’s the death penalty. Why are Muslim societies so afraid of missionaries? Why are Muslim societies so afraid of freedom of speech? Why are Muslim societies so afraid of the Gospel? Why are Muslim societies so afraid of the message of Jesus Christ? If you believe Islam is the truth, why don’t you believe Islam can compete in the marketplace of ideas? Obviously you don’t, or you wouldn’t kill people that convert to Christianity and put missionaries in jail.”

Radical Islamist Turns Ardent Zionist: The Story Of Kasim Hafeez

11/22/2012 2 comments

By Fern Sidman – “On Thursday evening, November 15, an audience of several hundred people sat in rapt attention at Temple Israel on New York City’s Upper East Side, as they heard the compelling narrative of a most unusual man.

Kasim Hafeez, 28, is a British-born Muslim of Pakistani descent who was raised in an environment where he was taught that ‘Jews control the world, and Israel is at fault for just about everything.’ As many other young Muslims in the United Kingdom, he embraced the teachings of radical Islam and internalized the visceral hatred for Israel that is endemic to this philosophy.

Growing up in a home where his father praised Adolf Hitler (ym’sh) as a ‘brilliant man’ whose only shortcoming was that he ‘didn’t kill enough Jews,’ Kasim Hafeez was being groomed to be yet another virulent Israel basher, but this life trajectory was abruptly derailed when he decided to undertake some serious research on the political history of Israel. Today, the Nottingham-based university administrator addresses audiences around the globe about the epiphany of truth that changed his life, and his speeches are being sponsored by the premier North American pro-Israel student advocacy organization, StandWithUs.

Prior to the transformative process that made him into a ‘proud Zionist,’ Mr. Hafeez observes that before the 1988 publication of Salman Rushdie’s book entitled, ‘Satanic Verses,’ most mosques in the UK had not as yet undergone the radicalization process, but that changed quite rapidly. ‘I recall that as a young boy, we didn’t want that book on the shelves. We bought copies of it and burned them,’ says Hafeez.

As a teenager, Hafeez remembers that while most Muslims in the United Kingdom ‘faked’ their condemnations of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States, the great majority of them were exceptionally pleased with the results. ‘We really believed that Israel and the Jews were the center of all evil and because of Israel’s close relationship with the United States and their Western value system, we harbored a real enmity toward America. I had a friend who was convinced that 9/11 was an inside job. A conspiratorial plot hatched the by the US and Israel.’

Speaking of his indoctrination by Muslim extremists, Hafeez ruefully observes that, ‘We were made to feel like the victims of the Western world, so therefore anything goes. We thought we had the moral right to fight back using any and all means.’

‘I used to vigorously campaign against Israel,’ declares Hafeez and ‘while we were encouraged to be better Muslims by taking up the cause of Palestinian statehood, I can tell you that we were constantly deluged with propaganda and false images of the purported plight of the Palestinians.’ In the midst of his immersion in the Muslim campaign to demonize and delegitimize Israel, Hafeez says that he carried signs at demonstrations which Read more…

From Darkness To Light: Pakistani Muslim Airforceman Turns To Christ After Encountering The Glory Of God At Christian Church

11/04/2012 3 comments

John 12:46, “I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.”

By Karen Mudge – “Born into a Pakistani Muslim family, Pastor Siddique Paul struggled from childhood with a secret.

Born Mohammad Siddique, the son of a mosque leader, Siddique was drawn to the Bible as a young boy and a young adult, but kept coming back to the Islamic faith in which he was raised.

But when his wife fell sick in 1997, Siddique had an encounter with the Christian faith that had an ongoing impact. The doctor caring for his wife refused to let Siddique pay for her medicine, saying he’d prefer if Siddique and his wife would visit him once she was well.

‘I was inspired by his kindness and love because the medicine was costly,’says Siddique. So he asked for the doctor’s name. Siddique recalls, ‘In our Urdu language the doctor’s name means ‘servant of Messiah’. I got shocked and thought, ‘he is a Christian’. After that I really showed my heart.’

He begged the doctor to introduce him to a Christian family who were acting on the teaching from the Bible. Siddique enjoyed the Christian family and asked them many questions. The family humbly told Siddique that they were laymen, not scholars, but said to him, ‘Our love is here, if you want to come and visit us again, our house will always be open to you and we will say welcome in Christ’s love.’

Siddique attended church with the family. During the service, he issued a challenge to Jesus regarding his three year old daughter who was very ill. He said to Jesus, ‘You are not here, but if you exist, if your blood has power, if you heal my daughter before I reach home, I will try to think about you. Not believe – just think.’

Returning home to a house silent of screaming and crying, Siddique discovered his daughter had begun to sleep peacefully the very hour he issued his challenge to Jesus. ‘Tears came into my eyes and I tried to hide my face from my wife because she was a Muslim.’

This miracle began to melt Siddique’s heart towards Christianity. From that point, despite what he had been told about the Bible and Christianity’s corruption, he Read more…

Mark 8:34b-36, “… Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

By Lucille Talusan, CBN – “WEST JAVA, Indonesia – In the world’s largest Muslim nation, changing your faith can bring lots of trouble.

One man Christian World News spoke with lost his home and his job. In fact, he almost lost his identity. But he still says turning to Christ was worth it all.

Andi was raised as a Muslim and he considered himself to be a devout believer of Islam.

‘I was diligent in practicing the Muslim faith. I encouraged friends to pray and to build the mosque. I was faithful to Islam and didn’t have any intentions of befriending Christians,’ he said.

‘My goal in life was to get rich. And I was also involved in witchcraft. People came to me for healing and they paid me,’ he said. ‘I had a big house and lots of money to spend but I felt empty.’

According to Andi, all this changed when a Christian came to his house and spoke to him about Jesus.

‘He kept on coming to our house but I avoided him,’ he said. ‘Then one day I became ill and my whole family was sick with high fever. This Christian guy brought us to the hospital. He and his friends took care of us.’

The Christians also gave him a Bible and encouraged him to read it.

‘I did not want to read the Bible, but when I got healed, I felt an urge to read the Bible,’ Andi said. ‘And when I read it, I wanted to know more about Jesus.’

Since then, Andi’s Christian friends regularly met at his home for bible study. When his Muslim neighbors heard them singing Christian songs, Muslim leaders came to his house to persuade him to return to Islam.

Andi refused to recant and preached the gospel to them instead. This agitated his Muslim neighbors. More than 30 of them threw rocks at his house.

He was even brought before a mob at the local public hall. They questioned his new religious identity and confiscated his residence card.

The card holds important personal information, including a person’s religion. [W]ithout the card, a person can’t get a passport, obtain most licenses, or conduct many transactions.” Read more.
