By Hamza Hendawi, Qassim Abdul-Zahra and Ken Dilanian, AP – “The Islamic State group is aggressively pursuing development of chemical weapons, setting up a branch dedicated to research and experiments with the help of scientists from Iraq, Syria and elsewhere in the region, according to Iraqi and U.S. intelligence officials.

Their quest raises an alarming scenario for the West, given the determination to strike major cities that the group showed with its bloody attack last week in Paris. U.S. intelligence officials don’t believe IS has the capability to develop sophisticated weapons like nerve gas that are most suited for a terrorist attack on a civilian target. So far the group has used mustard gas on the battlefield in Iraq and Syria.

Still, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls on Thursday warned that Islamic extremists might at some point use chemical or biological weapons.

‘Terrorism hit France not because of what it is doing in Iraq and Syria … but for what it is,’ Valls told the lower house of Parliament. ‘We know that there could also be a risk of chemical or biological weapons,’ he added, though he did not talk of a specific threat.

Iraqi officials expressed concern that the large safe haven the extremists control since overrunning parts of Iraq and Syria last year has left Iraqi authorities largely in the dark over the IS program.

‘They now have complete freedom to select locations for their labs and production sites and have a wide range of experts, both civilians and military, to aid them,’ a senior Iraqi intelligence official told The Associated Press.” Read more.

By Bob Price and Brandon Darby, Breitbart – “A highly trusted federal agent working under the umbrella of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has confirmed to Breitbart Texas that a group composed of 5 Pakistani men and 1 man from Afghanistan was captured by U.S. Border Patrol agents after having illegally crossed the porous U.S.-Mexico border in the Tucson Sector of Arizona.

The six men were traveling in a group and were captured roughly 16 miles into the state of Arizona, specifically, near the small picturesque town of Patagonia, Arizona.

The apprehension of the group occurred late on Monday night, November 16, 2015.

Border Patrol agents were unable to do extensive interviews with the six Middle Eastern men because the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) took over the matter. The aliens were immediately transferred to Tucson where the FBI took custody.

On Wednesday evening, Breitbart Texas disclosed a report by other federal agents claiming that 8 Syrian illegal aliens were captured while attempting to enter the United States in the Laredo Sector. The Department of Homeland Security has now confirmed our exclusive report…

DW – “Honduran authorities have said they have intercepted six Syrian nationals traveling on Greek passports. Five of those detained were stopped in the capital, Tegucigalpa, and were reportedly trying to reach the US.

Police said on Wednesday that all six Syrians had been stopped within the last week. On their arrival from Costa Rica, five of the six Syrians had been planning to head to the border with neighboring Guatemala. The passports they were traveling with had been doctored and the photos replaced.

Honduran newspaper La Prensa said the five men detained were aged 23 to 33.

‘We received information from [fellow] police services that these five Syrians left Greece and passed through Turkey, Brazil, Argentina and San Jose in Costa Rica before finally reaching Tegucigalpa,’ said Honduras police spokesman Anibal Baca, adding that they were ‘normal Syrians.’
Police said there were no signs of any links to the ‘Islamic State’ (IS) terror attacks in Paris last Friday.

Television footage showed the men dressed in casual clothing and grinning as police officers escorted them at the airport.

‘Greek diplomats arrived in the terminal area and confirmed the men didn’t speak a word of Greek,’ the paper said.

A sixth man was also turned away by Honduras authorities on Friday after arriving by plane from El Salvador.

In a similar incident on Sunday, police in Paraguay also detained a Syrian man who was traveling on a stolen Greek passport.

Reports that at least one of last Friday’s Paris attackers may have entered Europe among migrants registered in Greece have sparked concerns in several Western countries in recent days.” Read more.
