FOX News – “Terrorists struck around the world Friday, beheading a man in France, gunning down dozens on a beach in Tunisia and launching a suicide attack on a mosque in Kuwait, in a series of attacks that followed an ISIS leaders’ call to make the month of Ramadan a time of ‘calamity for the infidels.’

There was no confirmation that any of the attacks were ordered by ISIS, although the suspects who attacked a U.S.-owned gas factory in southeastern France left the terrorist army’s flags next to the severed head of their victim. If the attacks were indeed an answer to ISIS spokesman Abu Muhammad al-Adnani’s recent call for savagery, it would represent a hideous perversion of Islam’s most holy period, which began June 17 and ends July 17.

Jihadists should make Ramadan a time of ‘calamity for the infidels … Shi’ites and apostate Muslims,’ Al-Adnani said in a recent audio message. ‘Muslims everywhere, we congratulate you over the arrival of the holy month. Be keen to conquer in this holy month and to become exposed to martyrdom.’

The attack in France occurred first, at 9:50 a.m. local time in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, northwest of the Alpine city of Grenoble. Two suspects dressed as deliverymen crashed a car into an industrial gas plant operated by Allentown, Pa.,-based Air Products & Chemicals, stormed inside and killed at least one person. The head of the victim was left on a fence, with Arabic phrases scrawled on it and ISIS flags nearby, Sky News reported, citing French legal sources.

The unnamed victim was a businessman at a local transportation company and the boss of a man arrested in connection with the attack.

Nearly simultaneously, two gunmen attacked two hotels in a Tunisian coastal town popular with British tourists, killing at least 28 and wounding 36. The Health Ministry said the dead include Tunisians, Brits, Germans and Belgians.

A third attack killed at least 16 in a Shia mosque in Kuwait City. ISIS is comprised of Sunni Muslims, and its members have a long and bloody history with Shia Muslims, as evidenced by Al-Adnani’s call. The attack came immediately following Friday prayers.” Read more.

By John Hall and Fidelma Cook and Simon Tomlinson and Peter Allen, MailOnline – “Heavily armed police officers investigating this morning’s brutal beheading terror attack at a gas factory in France have raided the home of suspect Yassine Salhi and removed a woman and child.

Police swooped on the apartment building in Saint-Priest, near the city of Lyon, just hours after the 30-year-old delivery driver was arrested on suspicion of decapitating his boss, writing Arabic slogans on the severed head and hanging it on a fence outside the nearby HQ of U.S.-owned Air Products.

Salhi is accused of going on to crash his Ford Fusion delivery van through the factory’s gates before crashing it into several large gas cannisters left in the car park, apparently in the hope they would explode and destroy the entire factory complex. 

The explosions were relatively small, however, leaving only two factory workers with non life-threatening injuries.

The murdered man – who French media say owned the delivery company Salhi worked for – is believed to have been killed elsewhere before his corpse was dumped at the factory site in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier and his head impaled on a fence 30 feet away surrounded by homemade Islamist flags.

Speaking before the raid on her home, Salhi’s wife described her husband as a ‘normal Muslim’ who left for work as usual at 7am this morning. ‘My heart stopped when I heard he was a suspect….I expected him this afternoon,’ the unnamed woman told French radio station Europe 1.

Salhi – who is understood to have been known to security services since at least 2006 – reportedly told arresting officers that he is a member of the Islamic State terror group. He is believed not to have a criminal record and an investigation into his ‘possible radicalisation’ was dropped in 2008.

French President Francois Hollande, speaking in Brussels, said the attack began when a car crashed through the gate of the factory and ploughed into gas canisters, touching off an explosion.

‘No doubt about the intention – to cause an explosion,’ Mr Hollande said, calling the attack ‘of a terrorist nature’.” Read more.

By Joel Rubin and Joseph Serna, Los Angeles Times – “Two Orange County men accused of conspiring to aid Islamic State militants fighting in Iraq and Syria pleaded not guilty in federal court Monday.

Nader Elhuzayel and Muhanad Badawi, both 24, allegedly conspired ‘to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant,’ according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Orange County.

Federal authorities said the men drew the attention of counter-terrorism agents with inflammatory comments on social media, prompting an investigation that led to their arrests last month. They are due back in court July 6 and are scheduled to go to trial July 28.

Details of a call between the two men before their capture were contained in an FBI agent’s affidavit.

According to the document, on the last Friday of April, after prayer services at a mosque in Orange County, Elhuzayel and Badawi spoke enthusiastically about Islamic State.

One allegedly proclaimed his wish to join the group and die a martyr on a battlefield. Although Yemen was attractive for its natural beauty, the men allegedly agreed they’d prefer to fight in Syria. They would drink wine together in the paradise that awaited them after they were killed, they reportedly said…

… federal agents raided the room at the Crystal Inn motel in Anaheim where Nader Elhuzayel has lived with his parents since the family declared bankruptcy and lost their house two years ago.

Falak Elhuzayel said a team of agents upended the room in the search for evidence and asked her why her son had purchased a one-way ticket. She said she told them that he had decided to buy a return ticket later because he did not know how long he would remain in the West Bank.

She described her son as ‘Muslim, but not very religious, just normal.’ Over the last year, he had become more observant, frequently attending Friday prayer services at a mosque in Anaheim, she said.” Read more.

The Independent – “The Isis militant group has seized enough radioactive material from government facilities to suggest it has the capacity to build a large and devastating ‘dirty’ bomb, according to Australian intelligence reports.

Isis declared its ambition to develop weapons of mass destruction in the most recent edition of its propaganda magazine Dabiq, and Indian defence officials have previously warned of the possibility the militants could acquire a nuclear weapon from Pakistan.

According to the Australian foreign minister, Julie Bishop, Nato has expressed deep concerns about the materials seized by Isis from research centres and hospitals that would normally only be available to governments.

The threat of Isis’s radioactive and biological weapons stockpile was so severe that the Australia Group, a 40-nation bloc dedicated to ending the use of chemical weapons, held a session on the subject at its summit in Perth last week.

‘This is really worrying them,’ Ms Bishop said in an interview with The Australian.

FOX News – “The man shot and killed Tuesday by Boston police was plotting with another suspect to behead a cop, a law enforcement source told FoxNews.com

The dead suspect, 26-year-old Usaama Rahim, was under surveillance by the Joint Terrorism Task Force when he was shot at about 7 a.m. near a CVS in the city’s Roslindale neighborhood, when he brandished the blade at police. Later Tuesday, authorities arrested another suspect, David Wright, in connection with the case, police said.

‘We believe the intent was to behead a police officer,’ one official told The Boston Globe. ‘We knew the plot had to be stopped. They were planning to take action Tuesday.’

Rahim was shot outside a CVS Pharmacy in Roslindale, Mass. at approximately 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans told reporters that members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force approached Rahim to question him about ‘terrorist-related information’ they had received when he moved toward officers with the knife.

Evans said officers repeatedly ordered Rahim to drop the knife but he continued to advance. He said task force members fired their guns, hitting Rahim once in the torso and once in the abdomen. Rahim was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Later, the FBI and local police arrested a man at a home in Everett, Mass., in an action authorities said was related to the Roslindale shooting. Christina Diorio-Sterling, a spokeswoman for U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz, said Wright was taken into custody from his home in suburban Everett. She said Wright will face federal charges and is expected to appear in U.S. District Court on Wednesday.

WFXT reported that three different Joint Terrorism Task Force teams had been carrying out 24-hour surveillance on at least three different people in the Boston area, though it was unclear how long that had been going on.The plot may have been inspired by the terror group ISIS, who have repeatedly called on followers in the United States to attack law enforcement officials or military installations.” Read more.
