By Harriet Alexander, The Telegraph – “Fighters from the Islamic State have proudly posted photos of a child who they claim is the youngest person to die while fighting on their side.

The 10-year-old boy is named by the Islamists as Abu Ubaidah. A Twitter account run by Isil sympathisers said on October 9 that he was killed, alongside his father, by an American air strike two weeks ago.

US aircraft have been carrying out air strikes across Iraq and northern Syria, and the account did not say where he was killed.

But the disturbing series of photos posted by the Isil account show a smiling boy wearing a woollen hat and combat fatigues, posing frequently with guns.

In one image the machine gun is almost bigger than he is – standing in the hallway of a house, he beams to the camera as he strikes a pose with the gun.

In another, he is standing beside a truck which has been turned into an improvised tank, with a metal sheet covering the windscreen.
Isil’s recruitment of child soldiers has been long-known.

By Richard Esposito, NBC News – “Intelligence officials tell NBC News that Canadian authorities have heard would-be terrorists discussing potential ISIS-inspired ‘knife and gun’ attacks against U.S. and Canadian targets inside Canada.

While intelligence officials say some of the discussions raise the possibility of attacks on U.S. citizens and other U.S. and Western targets in Canada, they have not picked up talk of anyone crossing the border into the U.S. to stage attacks. They also stressed that the possible attacks were at the ‘aspirational’ stage.

 Intelligence officials say that Canadian authorities are monitoring ‘hundreds of people’ in Canada who have either gone to Syria to link up with ISIS and other Islamist groups and returned, or who have tried and failed to make the trip. The unknowns, those inspired by ISIS but as yet on no radar, add to the worry, helping to make this what U.S. and Canadian officials have said is the most dangerous time since 9/11 for a domestic terror attack.

Both U.S. and Canadian officials fear the beheading of an innocent person in a public place, or the slashing of citizens on a crowded street until police arrive to shoot and ‘martyr’ the terrorists.

In a statement, the press secretary for Canada’s Minister of Public Safety told NBC News, ‘While I cannot comment on operational matters of national security, I can say that security agencies are constantly evaluating the terrorist threat and taking action to protect Canadians.’

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WHDH) – A threat targeting elementary school children in several Rhode Island communities caused concern for many parents Wednesday.

Investigators say someone threatened to behead students at schools in Johnston, Cranston and Warwick.

Because of the threat, many parents kept their children out of class even though police had a visible presence on campus.

“We want to ensure that there’s a safe environment for our students as they go to our schools not only just today but throughout the entire period that they’re in school,” Cranston Mayor Allan Fung said.

Many parents kept their kids at home Wednesday. Others decided to walk their children to school.

“It is safe and I hope it’s just a prank that they’re playing, the threat is not that serious. I hope everything gets back to normal because our kids do need their education,” Giovanni Carpenter said.

The drama in Rhode Island comes on the heels of similar threats in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Police in Rhode Island say they don’t believe this is a credible threat but the community is certainly not taking any chances.

“When these threats come in, we take them very serious, but at the same time, we don’t want these threats to affect our daily lives including what they do here educating students,” Cranston Police Chief Michael Winquist said.

The threat was reportedly handwritten and police have enlisted the help of the FBI to determine the source of the letter.

Imam Foudil Selmoune told a Radio-Canada journalist that under Sharia law, those harsh punishments are part of God’s rules for Muslims to live in a ‘peaceful and just society.’

‘We don’t cut hands off just anyone,’ he said. ‘We cut the hands of people who have money and who steal.’

He also said ‘stoning exists in Sharia.’

‘But we have to ask why did God make these laws? It’s to create a society that is healthy, pure and balanced.’

Selmoune is still listed on the mosque’s website as its imam.

Trudeau’s visit was part of a campaign-style tour of Montreal’s south shore that raised the ire of the Tories.

They previously criticized Trudeau after learning the Islamic centre gave more than $11,000 to a charity called IRFAN-Canada, which the government listed as a terrorist entity this year.” Read more.
