ISIS Beheads British Aid Worker Alan Henning, Threatens To Behead American War Vet Next

The Qur’an has spoken. Again. What many of you may not know is that while the eyes of the world fixates upon the barbarity of the Islamic State and the executions of those who do not believe and behave as they do, the birthplace of Islam, Saudi Arabia, has itself beheaded at least 59 people so far this year for the very same reasons …

Qur’an Sura 48:29, “Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard against the disbelievers … The mark of them is on their foreheads from the traces of prostration …”

Qur’an Sura 9:14, “Fight them [disbelievers]! Allah will torment them at your hands and disgrace them and grant you victory over them …”

Revelation 13:15-16, “The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads …”

By Chris Pleasance, Mail Online – “British aid worker Alan Henning has been beheaded by ISIS fighter Jihadi John in a video posted online by the terror group.

Before he is killed, a gaunt and tired looking Mr Henning gives a short forced speech in which he blames his execution on Parliament’s decision to launch strikes against Islamic State in Iraq.

Mr Henning, a 47-year-old father-of-two, was kidnapped on Boxing Day last year as he delivered aid to Syrian refugees.

The clip, which is in English with Arabic subtitles, shows Jihadi John stepping forward to cut Mr Henning’s throat before the screen turns black, then shows his body lying on the desert floor.

Before he is killed, Mr Henning says: ‘I am Alan Henning. Because of our parliament’s decision to attack the Islamic state I as a member of the British public will now pay the price for that decision.’

In a thick London accent, the fighter adds: ‘The blood of David Haines was on your hands Cameron, Alan Henning will also be slaughtered but his blood is on the hands of the British parliament.’

In the footage, Mr Henning appears visibly thinner than in previous pictures, and has large dark rims underneath his eyes.

After Mr Henning is killed, the black-clad militant reappears with Peter Kassig, who is shown kneeling in the same position as Mr Henning with a caption showing his name.

Jihadi John then adds: ‘Obama you have started your aerial bombardment in Sham (Syria) which keeps on striking our people, so it’s only right we continue to strike the necks of your people.'” Read more.

Qur’an Sura 47:4a, “Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers in battle, smite at their necks …”

Flashback: Decapitation 101: Saudi Training Session Teaches Students ‘How To Enjoy Beheading Procedure’ – “In a recently-released video footage a Wahhabi Takfiri sheikh demonstrates for his students how to perform beheading and ‘enjoy’ the horrific act. The video release of the appalling training session on ‘how to enjoy beheading procedure’ comes amid growing reports about unimaginable levels of brutality and violence practiced by extremist terrorist groups, such as the ISIL, particularly in Syria and Iraq… The Wahhabi preacher further emphasizes in the video piece that beheading a sheep is different from beheading a [human] captive and that the beheading of captives should not be done ‘indifferently’ as in the sheep’s case, rather it should be conducted with harshness along with pleasure.” Read more.

Flashback: Saudi Arabia ‘Justice’ Minister: Beheading Is Enshrined In Divine Islamic Laws, ‘We Cannot Change Them’ – “Saudi Arabia’s Justice Minister has defended tough Sharia punishments such as beheading, cutting off hands and lashing, claiming they ‘cannot be changed’ because they are enshrined in Islamic law. ‘These punishments are based on divine religious texts and we cannot change them,’ Mohammed Al Eissa reportedly said during a recent speech in Washington… ‘Islam is a religion of wisdom that calls for dialogue with other religious faiths and peaceful coexistence with other communities. [Edit ICA: Then why is there not one single Christian church in all of Saudi Arabia?]” Read more.

No. They are GOING to behead Kassig. Period. He is already a dead man. Because that is what the qur’an REQUIRES. It does. That is what ISLAM requires. It does, and ISIS is following the dictates of islam!!!!!!!!! Convert, submit aND PAY THE Jizya tax, or DIE. Those are the ONLY choices that the pathetic, sleazy, swine “god” of islam offers to non-muslims. Read the qur’an and the hadith of muhammad. It is plain as day, and obama is a LIAR. This is a POLITICAL statement — not a religious statement—because islam is NOT a religion. It is a political, social, economic, legal, and quasi-religious system that governs and CONTROLS every aspect of life in a society!!! It is the Tea Party on steroids, on steroids, which is on steroids, which is on LSD. If you are a westerner and you are defending this garbage, I recommend that you beat your head against a brick wall and then ACTUALLY READ the qur’an and the hadiths and what they ACTUALLY teach (wife beating, marital rape, murdering non-muslims, etc.) before you open your disgusting, misguided mouth again!!! It is written as PLAIN AS DAY!!!!! READ THE WORDS OF THEIR SO-CALLED “GOD” and see for yourself!!! Don’t listen to people (who are apologists and LIARS), listen to the “god” himself and his chief prophet of the ideology!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the worst part… is that almost ALL of the sick pigs that Mr. Kassig was trying to help secretly WANT him to be beheaded in the name of their insane religio-virus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes. They. Do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moral of the Story: If you are an IDIOT and you believe in a sick belief system that is ruining your life and you expect others to save you from that which YOU BELIEVE IN, then you are a fool and you DESERVE whatever end you meet. YOU affiliated yourself with this belief-system. YOU must value your life enough to unaffiliate yourself with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The problem with this sort of rant is that it can be turned back on the writer. For example thousands of children died when the US laid waste to Iraq – which the US authorities now seem generally agreed was a slight mistake. There are plenty of executions on record in the US, (which many in the Western world consider to be barbarous and outdated behaviour)and the previous administration claimed that torture was OK if needed for the security of the US.
A more thoughtful response to the appalling behaviour of those claiming to represent the Islamic State is to inquire why so many of the fundamentalist Sunni are prepared to act this way after the government installed by the US in Iraq seemed to have treated the Northern Sunni in Iraq so badly. Perhaps if you only watched Fox you may be unfamiliar with this sort of reflection.

Hi pb, the problem with the moral equivalency and apologetics you’ve just posted is that the US does not aim to kill innocent civilians. The same cannot be said for ISIS. Any excecutions in the US are, by law, required to be humane and only done after thorough trials, appeals, and take years before they are carried out. The same cannot be said for ISIS. Waterboarding, sleep deprivation and other methods used by the US gov’t are not torture. The stonings, amputations, crucifixions, electrocutions, beheadings, etc. of ISIS are.

The reason why the most devout Muslims are prepared to act this way not only in Iraq but in Syria and much of the Dar al Islam (the Islamic world) is because they have an apocalyptic Islamic vision as outlined in the Qur’an and Hadiths, events that they must work to fulfil before their version of “Judgment Day”. Islamic terrorism and the divide between Shia and Sunni has nothing to do with the US. It has been going on for nearly 1400 years where 270 million have already been slaughtred for the cause of “Allah” and his self-proclaimed prophet. Was America in Afghanistan when Islamic terrorists hijacked planes and killed nearly 3000 people on 9/11?

Hadith, Saheeh Muslim 2889, “Verily Allah has shown me the eastern and western part of the earth, and I saw the authority of my Ummah (Islamic nation) dominate all that I saw.”

Hadith, Bukhari 2977, “I have been made victorious with terror” – The “Prophet” Of Islam, Mohammed

Qur’an Sura 33:21, “Indeed in Allah’s Messenger (Mohammad) you have an excellent example to follow for him who hopes in (meeting with) Allah and the Last Day …”

Qur’an Sura 5:33, “The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement …”

Qur’an Sura 8:55, “Surely the vilest of animals in Allah’s sight are those who disbelieve [non-Muslims] …”

Qur’an Sura 8:12b, “… terrorize and behead those who believe in scriptures other than the Qur’an.”

Qur’an Sura 48:29, “Mohammed is [Allah’s] apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another.”

Qur’an Sura 5:51, “O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them [unbelievers]; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.”

Qur’an: Sura 4:89, “Have no unbelieving friends. Kill the unbelievers [non-Muslims] wherever you find them.”

Islamic Scholar Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi: “Islam wishes to destroy all States and Governments anywhere on the face of the earth which are opposed to the ideology and programme of Islam regardless of the country or the Nation that rules it. Islam requires the earth – not just a portion – but the whole planet.”

I suspect you are deliberately trying to avoid my question. You should note that we agree that the beheading is appalling. My question was why the IS is now resorting to this type of act.
My understanding of terrorism (and remember I wrote a book on the topic which has had positive reviews) is that it occurs when a group of people are facing superior forces. The chosen horror of the response is intended as a way of evening the odds.
Secondly I am concerned about your implied lack of empathy with the victims of the US invasion.
Since there were numerous incidents whereby US soldiers embarked on personal murder of civilians (and were sometimes courtmartialed for it) you should at least acknowledge that family and friends of the victims would feel the same sort of feeling of outrage, as many of the citizens of the West now feel when they watch the videos. These were not isolated events and an acquaintance who worked for a security company in Bagdad gave me a number of examples which were not reported in the Western press. When George Bush’s Secretary of State, Albright, said in an interview that 500,000 infant deaths prior to the invasion were an acceptable price to pay for the US stance on Iraq try to put yourself for a moment into the likely thoughts of the parents of those children. Do you honestly think that a parent would say that because you didnt specifically intentionally cause the death of my child individually, all should be forgiven. On what planet are you living?
Thirdly you may be unnecessarily selective in your understanding the the Quran. There are also Suras that make it very clear that violence is only condoned as defence against attack. The fact that the main Muslim leaders in the West have openly condemned the ISIS executions as being non Islamic should be at least acknowledged. After all you would probably be somewhat uncomfortable if the genocide initiated by Christian Tribes in Biafra was attributed to Christianity per se.
Can I suggest you read a little of the history of the conflict starting with the first Gulf War.
Also if you read articles on the history of Iran and why the Kurdish homeland was split you might begin to understand what some of the fuss is about.

pb, “My question was why the IS is now resorting to this type of act. My understanding of terrorism (and remember I wrote a book on the topic which has had positive reviews) is that it occurs when a group of people are facing superior forces. The chosen horror of the response is intended as a way of evening the odds.”

Hi pb, thank you for writing back. That may be your understanding, but according to the Islamic State, you are completely wrong. The reason why they do what they do — and they state this repeadedly by quoting the Qur’an and Hadiths — is because their religion commands them to do it. Here are a few examples from the Qur’an alone:

Qur’an Sura 4:76,“Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah…”

Qur’an Sura 2:244, “Then fight in the cause of Allah, and know that Allah Heareth and knoweth all things.”

Qur’an Sura 3:151, “Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority”. This speaks directly of killing Christians, since they believe in the Trinity (ie. what Muhammad incorrectly believed to be ‘joining companions to Allah’).

Qur’an Sura 4:74, “Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward.”

Qur’an Sura 4:89, “They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks.”

Qur’an Sura 4:104, “And be not weak hearted in pursuit of the enemy; if you suffer pain, then surely they (too) suffer pain as you suffer pain…” Pursuing an injured enemy is not an act of self-defense.

Qur’an Sura 5:33, “The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement”

Qur’an Sura 8:12, “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve.

Qur’an Sura 2:216,Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.”

Qur’an Sura 8:15-16, “O ye who believe! When ye meet those who disbelieve in battle, turn not your backs to them. Whoso on that day turneth his back to them, unless maneuvering for battle or intent to join a company, he truly hath incurred wrath from Allah, and his habitation will be hell, a hapless journey’s end.”

Qur’an Sura 8:39, “And fight with them until there is no more persecution and religion should be only for Allah”

Qur’an Sura 8:57, “If thou comest on them in the war, deal with them so as to strike fear in those who are behind them, that haply they may remember.”

Qur’an Sura 8:59-60, “And let not those who disbelieve suppose that they can outstrip (Allah’s Purpose). Lo! they cannot escape. Make ready for them all thou canst of (armed) force and of horses tethered, that thereby ye may dismay the enemy of Allah and your enemy.”

Qur’an Sura 9:5, “So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them.”

Qur’an Sura 9:14,Fight them, Allah will punish them by your hands and bring them to disgrace…”

Qur’an Sura 9:20, “Those who believe, and have left their homes and striven with their wealth and their lives in Allah’s way are of much greater worth in Allah’s sight. These are they who are triumphant.” The “striving” spoken of here is Jihad.

Qur’an Sura 9:29, “Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.”

Qur’an Sura 9:30, “And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!”

Qur’an Sura 9:38-39, “O ye who believe! what is the matter with you, that, when ye are asked to go forth in the cause of Allah, ye cling heavily to the earth? Do ye prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? But little is the comfort of this life, as compared with the Hereafter. Unless ye go forth, He will punish you with a grievous penalty, and put others in your place.” This is a warning to those who refuse to fight, that they will be punished with Hell.

Qur’an Sura 9:41,Go forth, light-armed and heavy-armed, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the way of Allah! That is best for you if ye but knew.”

Qur’an Sura 9:73, “O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the destination.”

Qur’an Sura 9:88, “But the Messenger, and those who believe with him, strive and fight with their wealth and their persons: for them are (all) good things: and it is they who will prosper.”

Qur’an Sura 9:111, “Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur’an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.”

Qur’an Sura 9:123, “O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness.”

Qur’an Sura 25:52, “Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against them with the utmost strenuousness, with the (Qur’an).” “Strive against” is Jihad, obviously not in the personal context. It’s also significant to point out that this is a Meccan verse.

Qur’an Sura 47:4, “So when you meet in battle those who disbelieve, then smite the necks until when you have overcome them, then make (them) prisoners,”

Qur’an Sura 47:35,Be not weary and faint-hearted, crying for peace, when ye should be uppermost: for Allah is with you,”

Qur’an Sura 48:17, “There is no blame for the blind, nor is there blame for the lame, nor is there blame for the sick (that they go not forth to war). And whoso obeyeth Allah and His messenger, He will make him enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow; and whoso turneth back, him will He punish with a painful doom.”

Qur’an Sura 48:29, “Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard (ruthless) against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves”

Qur’an Sura 61:4, “Surely Allah loves those who fight in His way”

Qur’an Sura 61:10-12, “O ye who believe! Shall I lead you to a bargain that will save you from a grievous Penalty?- That ye believe in Allah and His Messenger, and that ye strive (your utmost) in the Cause of Allah, with your property and your persons: That will be best for you, if ye but knew! He will forgive you your sins, and admit you to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, and to beautiful mansions in Gardens of Eternity.” This verse was given in battle. It uses the Arabic word, Jihad.

Qur’an Sura 66:9, “O Prophet! Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be stern with them. Hell will be their home, a hapless journey’s end.” The root word of “Jihad” is used again here. The context is clearly holy war, and the scope of violence is broadened to include “hypocrites,” those who call themselves Muslims but do not act as such.

The “prophet” of Islam is clear: If you are truly a Muslim, like those of the Islamic State, then act like one by being a Muslim who pursues, fights against, strives against, is ruthless against, sieges, slays, strikes fear into the hearts of, and terrorizes the disbelievers [non-Muslims] to be victorious over them. After all, the “prophet” Mohammed said that he was made “victorious with terror” (Bukhari 2977). And “Indeed in Allah’s Messenger (Mohammad) you have an excellent example to follow for him who hopes in (meeting with) Allah and the Last Day” (Qur’an Sura 33:21).

pb, “Secondly I am concerned about your implied lack of empathy with the victims of the US invasion.”

Casualties of war are always regrettable, and the US tries to avoid them as much as possible. It breaks my heart to see innocent civilians suffer. It should for everyone. But make no mistake about it, they are victims not because of what the US has done, but are victims because of those who rule over them. We see this in Iraq, in Syria, in Gaza. Their leaders love death, not life, and often put civilians in harms way for propaganda purposes. It seems that you’ve swallowed their propaganda hook, like and sinker.

pb, “Since there were numerous incidents whereby US soldiers embarked on personal murder of civilians (and were sometimes courtmartialed for it) you should at least acknowledge that family and friends of the victims would feel the same sort of feeling of outrage …”

I don’t recall “numerous” incidents, but there are a few and everyone should be outraged by those that have happened. Be that as it may, we should never equate the unsanctioned and deplorable actions of a rogue soldier with the entire US military. That would be nonsensical. There’s a reason why these soliders are punished, and for good reason.

pb, “When George Bush’s Secretary of State, Albright, said in an interview that 500,000 infant deaths prior to the invasion were an acceptable price to pay for the US stance on Iraq try to put yourself for a moment into the likely thoughts of the parents of those children.”

Nobody wants to see hundreds of thousands of children die. That was a very poor choice of words, and words that are easily twisted. But, ask yourself, who is really to blame here and, for the sake of argument, whether or not it would be acceptable if 500,000 died if it meant that the lives of millions more could be saved. Keep these things, no matter how poorly worded, in their proper contexts. Moreover, we now know that half a million deaths as some try to suggest were in fact a myth. As Pacific Standard magazine revealed last year, “Sanctions allegedly killed hundreds of thousands of children in Iraq and provided a rationale for invasion, a line still heard today. But those deaths almost certainly never happened.

Just over 10 years ago the United Kingdom followed the United States into the bloody Iraq War. George W. Bush and Tony Blair justified the invasion mainly with the claim that Iraq possessed, or was in the process of building, weapons of mass destruction. Most people now seem to be aware that this premise was false.

Yet a crucial myth surrounding the Iraq War still commands widespread belief—that economic sanctions aimed at Saddam Hussein and his regime killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqi children in the 1990s and early 2000s. The supposed lethality of economic sanctions was used as an argument for invading Iraq, as Walter Russell Mead would argue in March 2003: “Saddam Hussein is 65; containing him for another 10 years condemns at least another 360,000 Iraqis to death. Of these, 240,000 will be children under five.”

And, as we shall see, the sanctions myth is still used to justify the war. There were no hundreds of thousands of extra deaths.

The claim that sanctions killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqi children originated in a 1995 letter to The Lancet which, in turn, was based on a Baghdad survey done by Sarah Zaidi and colleagues. After other researchers identified anomalies in the survey data, Zaidi, to her great credit, re-investigated the work from the ground up. Having sub-contracted the original interviews to the Iraqi government, she traveled to Baghdad and re-interviewed many of the original households. When Zaidi failed to confirm quite a few of the reported deaths in these follow-up interviews, she retracted her results.” Read more at http://www.psmag.com/navigation/politics-and-law/the-iraq-sanctions-myth-56433/.

pb, “Thirdly you may be unnecessarily selective in your understanding the the Quran. There are also Suras that make it very clear that violence is only condoned as defence against attack.”

Have you studied the Qur’an and Hadiths? If you had, you would not be making such a statement. The truth of the matter is that “Muhammad and his successors initiated offensive wars against peaceful countries in order to impose Islam by force as well as to seize the abundance of these lands. Their objective was to capture women and children and to put an end to the poverty and hunger from which Arab Muslims suffered. So, Islam was imposed upon Syria, Jordan, Palestine (Jerusalem), Egypt, Libya, Iraq, Iran, all of North Africa, some parts of India and China, and later Spain.

Undoubtedly, the concept of an offensive war to spread the faith is a genuine Islamic concept; it is known as a Holy War for the sake of God. We will see what Muslim scholars have explicitly determined that this is the essence of Islam. They also indicate that if sufficient military power is available to Islamic countries, they ought to attack all other countries in order to force them to embrace Islam, or pay the poll tax and be subject to Islamic rule. Muhammad (as well as all the Caliphs who succeeded him) called for holy wars. All scholars and lawyers acknowledge that.

Those who say that Islamic wars were defensive do not understand Islam and have not read sufficient history. It should be evident that offensive wars to spread Islam are the heart of the entire religion of Islam. They embody the meaning of ‘Striving for the cause of God’ — holy war to make the Word of God supreme over the whole world. Our study will be filled with objective quotes from the statements of scholars, along with a throng of true stories.

The Sayings and Deeds of Muhammad and His Companions

One of Muhammad’s popular claims is that God commanded him to fight people until they become Muslims and carry out the ordinances of Islam. All Muslim scholars without exception agree on this. Muhammad said:

“I have been ordered by God to fight with people till they bear testimony to the fact that there is no God but Allah and that Mohammed is his messenger, and that they establish prayer and pay Zakat (mThose who say that the Islamic wars were always defensive do not understand Islam aoney). If they do it, their blood and their property are safe from me” (see Bukhari Vol. I, p. 13).

Scholars understood this claim to mean the waging of offensive wars against unbelievers in order to force them to embrace Islam as individuals or communities. This is exactly what Muhammad himself did in carrying out God’s commandment to him.

    Azhar’s Scholars in Egypt

In his book, ‘Jurisprudence in Muhammad’s Biography’, the Azhar scholar, Dr. MuhammThose who say that the Islamic wars were always defensive do not understand Islam aad Sa’id Ramadan al-Buti says the following (page 134, 7th edition):

“The Holy War, as it is known in Islamic Jurisprudence, is basically an offensive war. This is the duty of Muslims in every age when the needed military power becomes available to them. This is the phase in which the meaning of Holy War has taken its final form. Thus the apostle of God said: ‘I was commanded to fight the people until they believe in God and his message …”’

Dr. Buti deduces from Muhammad’s statement that this is the concept of offensive war—this is Holy War as it is known in Islamic jurisprudence. Notice by his statement also that this matter is a duty incumbent on every Muslim in every age. The time will come when East and West, as well as politicians and military personnel all over the world will realize that the real military danger is the Islamic community. When the needed military power becomes available to them, they will wage wars and invade other countries !

    Saudi Scholars

In his book, ‘The Method of Islamic Law’, Dr. Muhammad al-Amin clearly indicates:

“No infidel [unbeliever] should be left on his land as it is denoted from Muhammad’s statement: ‘I was commanded to fight the people’”

This claim by Muhammad and its generally-accepted meaning are recorded not only by these contemporary scholars in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, but are also quoted in the following sources:

    ° The Sahih of al-Bukhari, part I, p. 13.
° The Sahih of Muslim, part I, p. 267 (The Interpretation of the Nawawi).
° The Commentary of Ibn Kathir, p. 336
    ° The Muhalla (the Sweetened), Vol. 4, p. 317
° ‘The Ordinances of the Qur’an’ by al-Shafi’i, p. 51, part II (on the authority of Abu Huraira).
    ° Mishkat of al-Masabih, part 1, p. 9.

Almost all major Islamic references have quoted this statement because it is one of the most famous sayings of Muhammad which he followed and which he commanded his followers to implement.

Many provocative and painful events were inflicted on individuals and tribes in the course of Muhammad’s life. Muhammad, as we will see, used to exhort his followers:

“Invitation first (that is, call them first to embrace Islam). If they refuse, then war.”

In other words, he told his followers not to kill anybody unless you first invite him to embrace Islam. Only if he rejects it, must he be killed. This is evident in the story of Abu Sufyan:

When Muhammad and his followers were about to attack Mecca to subjugate it to Islam, his adherents arrested Abu Sufyan, one of Mecca’s inhabitants. They brought him to Muhammad. Muhammad told him: “Woe to you, O Abu Sufyan. Is it not time for you to realize that there is no God but the only God?” Abu Sufyan answered: “I do believe that.” Muhammad then said to him: “Woe to you, O Abu Sufyan. Is it not time for you to know that I am the apostle of God?” Abu Sufyan answered: “By God, O Muhammad, of this there is doubt in my soul.” The ’Abbas who was present with Muhammad told Abu Sufyan: “Woe to you! Accept Islam and testify that Muhammad is the apostle of God before your neck is cut off by the sword.” Thus he professed the faith of Islam and became a Muslim.

There are many sources which record this story:

° Ibn Hisham, part 4, p. 11 (‘Biography of the Prophet’)
° ‘The Chronicle of the Tabari’, part 2, p. 157

It is also mentioned and attested to by contemporary scholars such as Dr. Buti in his book, ‘The Jurisprudence of Muhammad’s Biography’, p. 277. He repeated it on page 287 because such stories incite the admiration of the Buti and bring him joy. Yet Dr. Buti feels that some people will protest, especially liberals and the civilized international society, who believe that faith in a certain creed ought not to be imposed by the threat of death. Therefore, he said (p. 287) the following:

“It may be said, ‘What is the value of a faith in Islam which is a result of a threat? Abu Sufyan, one moment ago, was not a believer, then he believed after he was threatened by death.’ We say to those who question: ‘What is required of an infidel or the one who confuses other gods with God, is to have his tongue surrender to the religion of God and to subdue himself to the prophethood of Muhammad. But his heartfelt faith is not required at the beginning. It will come later.”’

This is God in Islam, my dear friends—a God who is satisfied with the testimony of the tongue of a person who is under the threat of death. But ‘the heartfelt faith’ will come later! The important thing is to increase the number of Muslims either by threat or by propagation!

Dr. Buti was more than frank, and we would like to thank him for that, yet we would like to tell him that Christianity rejects the testimony of the mouth if it does not stem from faith that is rooted in the heart first. In Christianity, a person has sufficient time to think quietly before he makes his decision, as the Gospel says:

“Let each be fully convinced in his own mind” (Rom. 14:5).

God reveals His attitude in the Bible when He says:

“My son, give me your heart” (Prov. 23:26).

When the Ethiopian eunuch expressed his desire to be baptized, the evangelist Philip told him:

“If you believe with all your heart, you may” (Acts 8:37).

God even rebukes the people of Israel and says:

“These people draw near to Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me” (Isa. 29:13).

The story of Abu Sufyan reveals clearly that Muhammad does not care much about the faith of the heart, especially at the beginning, as Dr. Buti suggests. What is really important is that professing faith is a natural response to the threat of death. The threat is very clear: Testify that Muhammad is the apostle of God or you will be beheaded. The story concludes: Abu Sufyan professed the testimony of ‘truth’ immediately!” Read much, much more here.

pb, “The fact that the main Muslim leaders in the West have openly condemned the ISIS executions as being non Islamic should be at least acknowledged.”

You means the ones that condemn ISIS in front of a Western audience, but ignore all the verses that prove that ISIS is indeed Islamic?

Did you know that lying to gullible non-Muslims is sactioned, and even required, by Islam?

pb, “After all you would probably be somewhat uncomfortable if the genocide initiated by Christian Tribes in Biafra was attributed to Christianity per se.”

Can you show me one verse in the New Testament that sanctions genocide? There have been dark times when so-called “Christians” in the past warred against and mistreated others, but they did not do so because they were obeying Christ’s commands. To the contrary, they were ignoring them. Such behavior was a departure from the genuine teachings of Christ, not a reflection of it. In the Qur’an and Hadiths, however, Mohammed explicitly issues open-ended calls upon his followers across all time to wage war against non-Muslims, to kill them, and sanctions the rape of women captured as the spoils of war. Yet in the Bible, Jesus never called upon His followers to fight against non-Christians. He never called upon his followers to mistreat others. He never called upon His followers to kill their enemies. Instead, He taught us the following:

Matthew 5:43-46a, “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you?”

In Islam, fighting is virtually always literal and physical warfare. Killing non-Muslims is, therefore, normative for Muslims and is sanctioned by the teachings of Islam. In Christianity, however, our struggle is spiritual. Killing non-Christians is therefore not normative for Christians nor is it sanctioned by the teachings of Christianity.

Ephesians 6:12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places…”

    Hope this helps …

I think once again you are evading my question. Let me state very clearly. You will see from my sermons I am Christian. However with even rudimentary research you can find historical evidence that through the centuries literally millions have been killed in the name of Christianity. This does not mean that the Bible is fundamentally flawed although there are heaps of places where it is open to misinterpretation in that direction. Hitler used the clearing of the temple passage to justify getting rid of the Jews. Google “Kelsos” and “Victims of the Christian faith” for an elementary introduction to the topic of evil actions in the name of Christianity. Similarly the Quran is also open to sloppy misinterpretation (as you demonstrate) yet the five pillars of Islam where the teaching is summarised favours the behaviour of the vast majority of Muslims (almost one billion of whom are avowedly peaceful). Just as the Iraqi people see the laying waste of Iraq by the US as evidence of evil Christianity, you see the beheading of kidnap victims as evidence of evil Muslims.
Violent killing is undesirable in any faith but honesty should at least allow us to admit the score in the middle East is not always complimentary to those claiming a Christian faith.

Hi pb, please re-read my reply above, there is no evading of anything. Again, any so-called Christians killing in the name of Christianity were a departure from the genuine teachings of Christ, not a reflection of them. Muslims killing in the name of Islam, however, are obeying the direct teachings of Islam.

pb, “Similarly the Quran is also open to sloppy misinterpretation (as you demonstrate) yet the five pillars of Islam where the teaching is summarised favours the behaviour of the vast majority of Muslims (almost one billion of whom are avowedly peaceful).”

“Sloppy” misinterpretations of the Qur’an do not result in terrorism. They result in nominal Muslims. When one reads the dictates of the Qur’an as the “prophet” of Islam intended and obeys them, however, that’s when we have terrorism. Consider, for example, an ICM poll revealing that 20% of British Muslims sympathized with the 7/7 bombers or NOP Research that found 1 in 4 British Muslims who justified the 7/7 bombings. A People-Press’ poll found that 31% of Turkish Muslims supported suicide attacks against Westerners in Iraq. YNet’s research found one third of Palestinians (32%) supported the slaughter of Jewish families, including the children. WPO research found 61% of Egyptians approved of attacks on Americans, 32% of Indonesians approved, 41% of Pakistanis approved, 38% of Moroccans approved, 83% of Palestinians approved of some or most groups that attack Americans, 62% of Jordanians approved of some or most groups that attack Americans, 42% of Turks approve of some or most groups that attack Americans. A Populus Poll that found 37% of all British Muslims viewed Jews in Britain as “legitimate targets”. When taken as a whole, this represents hundreds of millions of Muslims who, in your view, are deceived by “sloppy” interpretations. But are they? Not according to the Qur’an and Hadiths.

The problem, pb, is that when it comes to Western Muslims and their apologists many still attempt to create a dichotomy of “proper” and “good Islam” verses “improper” and “bad Islam” when, in reality, all of Islam is inherently destructive. Sure, there are many Muslims who are peaceful, but they are not peaceful because of their religion. They are peaceful in spite of it and the suggestion that Islamic extremists are only a tiny minory of the Muslim population is an often repreated myth. For your consideration:

New Study Shows That 80% of Mosques in America Teach Jihad Violence and Islamic Supremacism

Study: Hundreds Of Thousands Of Muslim Americans Believe Anyone Insulting Mohammed Should Be Killed

    Also:

pb, “Just as the Iraqi people see the laying waste of Iraq by the US as evidence of evil Christianity, you see the beheading of kidnap victims as evidence of evil Muslims.”

They see what they want to see, which often has nothing to do with fact. The war against terrorism has nothing to do with Christianity verses Islam. It has everything to do with Islam and its declaration of war against non-Muslims.

Hadith, Sahih Muslim 1:33a, “The Messenger of Allah [Mohammed] said: ‘I have been commanded to fight against people till they testify that there is no god but Allah, that Mohammad is the messenger of Allah, and they establish [Islamic] prayer …”

Hadith, Saheeh Muslim 2889, “Verily Allah has shown me the eastern and western part of the earth, and I saw the authority of my Ummah (Islamic nation) dominate all that I saw.”
