Uh Oh: Obama-Backed Free Syrian Army Group Harakat Hazm Denounces U.S. Airstrikes As “Attack On The Revolution”

Maybe they’ll change their mind after Obama gives them weapons. Lots and lots of “Allahu Akbar” inspiring weapons …

By Robert Spencer, Jihad Watch – “‘It has few other options.’ How about this: don’t arm or aid any of America’s enemies. Speak realistically about the jihad threat, and seek to prevent jihad terror attacks at home. Or else go in with ground troops that aren’t crippled by politically correct Rules of Engagement, and crush the Islamic State, and then leave, without indulging in quixotic, self-defeating and ill-informed attempts to create Western-style secular republics in the Middle East.

‘Lack of reliable partners in Syria poses daunting challenge to U.S.,’ by Patrick J. McDonnell, Los Angeles Times, September 23, 2014 (thanks to Patrick Poole):

…It’s not yet clear whether Washington’s purported allies in Syria are completely on board with the U.S. offensive against Islamic State. One of the administration’s favored moderate rebel factions, Harakat Hazm, part of the Free Syrian Army alliance and a recipient of U.S. missiles and training, issued a statement Tuesday denouncing the “external intervention” — that is, the U.S.-led bombing campaign in Syria — as “an attack on the revolution.”

The group said its main goal was toppling Assad. It is demanding “unconditional arming” of the Free Syrian Army, yet its members also acknowledge fighting alongside Al Nusra Front, the official Al Qaeda force in Syria.

Still, the country’s motley bands of fighters labeled as moderates may well be the White House’s best hope for now. It has few other options….

Flashback: Thousands Of ‘Free Syrian Army’ Fighters Joining Al-Qaeda Affiliated Rebels, ‘Entire Units Have Gone Over’ – “Syria’s main armed opposition group, the Free Syrian Army (FSA), is losing fighters and capabilities to Jabhat al-Nusra, an Islamist organisation with links to al-Qaida that is emerging as the best-equipped, financed and motivated force fighting Bashar al-Assad’s regime. Evidence of the growing strength of al-Nusra, gathered from Guardian interviews with FSA commanders across Syria, underlines the dilemma for the US, Britain and other governments as they ponder the question of arming anti-Assad rebels.” Read more.

Flashback: Syria: Christians Falling Into Severe Financial Hardship, Could Now Face Bloodbath From Islamist ‘Free Syrian Army’ – “The streets are most dangerous that is, unless it’s a Friday, when a few Syrian Christians dare to step outside of their homes amidst the persecution of Syria’s Christians by the Islamic rebels of the ‘Free Syrian Army… In many Syrian towns, lawlessness has become the norm. When government forces aren’t present, Muslims have been known to rob churches and kidnap, rape, or even kill Christian women. Innocent bystanders simply making trips to the store have been gunned down. Curfews have done little to make anyone feel safer or less fearful, so the Christian community simply bands together and prays.” Read more.

Flashback: Horror In Syria: ‘Free Syrian Army’ Rebels Executing Soldiers Were Reportedly Executing Christians – “Reports from Syria indicate members of the Free Syrian Army have started executing Christians while claiming they’re shooting Syrian soldiers. A video of a Nov. 1 attack in which black-clad Syrian rebels reportedly killed 28 men has been posted on Youtube.com. An Agence France-Presse story on the attack identified the victims as Syrian soldiers. But Religious Freedom Coalition President William Murray said two of the victims were associated with his cooperating organization in Syria, which distributes aid. The victims were not soldiers, he said, but civilians from the same neighborhood, ‘so they were all probably Christians.’” Read more.
