Al-Shorfa – “Unknown gunmen killed a cleric, who had taken a stand against extremism and terrorism, at his home in southern Mosul, the Iraqi police in Ninawa province said Wednesday (March 19th).

‘Unknown gunmen attacked prominent cleric Sheikh Abdullah al-Hassan, imam and preacher at al-Sheikh Abdullah Mosque, while he was at home’ in al-Imam neighbourhood, Ninawa police spokesman Col. Khalid al-Hamdani told Al-Shorfa.

‘They opened fire on him, killing him immediately,’ he said.
