CBN News – “Twelve people died in Nigeria after attacks on two Christian villages this weekend.

Authorities suspect Islamic extremists are behind the violence. The radical Islamic Boko Haram is waging a war to establish Shariah law in northern Nigeria.

One attack took place at a pre-wedding bachelor party. Suspected fighters from Boko Haram opened fire on the group, killing eight people. The assaults are the latest in a string of violence against Christians that began four years ago.

The leader of the group Abubakar Shekau threatened more attacks in a video.

‘As for killing, we will kill because Allah says we should decapitate, we should amputate limbs, we should mutilate,’ he said.

Shekau made it clear Boko Haram is fighting in the name of Islam.

‘They try to brainwash the people that we are fighting an ethnic war,’ Shekau said in the video.

‘No, we are fighting a religious war, we are fighting Jonathan, we are fighting Christians,’ he said, referring to President Goodluck Jonathan.

The attacks, which have killed thousands, have harmed Muslims as well as Christians.

Shekau goes on to mock the U.S. and Nigerian governments for placing bounties on his head – a reward of $7 million by the United States and $312,500 by the Nigerian government.

By Soeren Kern, Gatestone Institute – “The Muslim population of Britain topped 3.3 million by the end of 2013 to become around 5.2% of the overall population of 63 million, according to figures extrapolated from a recent study on the growth of the Muslim population in Europe.

At the same time, opinion surveys consistently show that voters in Britain view Islam and the question of Muslim immigration as a top-ranked public concern. The British public, it seems, is increasingly worried about the establishment of a parallel Muslim society there.

But government efforts to push back against the Islamization of Britain have been halting and half-hearted.

What follows is a chronological review of some of the main stories involving the rise of Islam in Britain during 2013.

In January, Muslim gangs were filmed loitering on streets in London and demanding that passersby conform to Islamic Sharia law. In a series of videos, the self-proclaimed vigilantes—who call themselves Muslim London Patrol—are seen abusing non-Muslim pedestrians and repeatedly shouting ‘this is a Muslim area.’

One video records the men shouting: ‘Allah is the greatest! Islam is here, whether you like it or not. We are here! We are here! What we need is Islam! What we need is Sharia!’

The video continues: ‘We are the Muslim Patrol. We are in north London, we are in south London, in east London and west London. We command good and forbid evil. Islam is here in London. [Prime Minister] David Cameron, Mr. Police Officer, whether you like it or not, we will command good and forbid evil. You will never get us. You can go to hell! This is not a Christian country. To hell with Christianity. Isa [Jesus] was a messenger of Allah. Muslim Patrol will never die. Allah is great! Allah is great! We are coming!’

In a January 23 interview with the online newspaper International Business Times, Anjem Choudary, a radical preacher who has long called for Sharia law to be implemented in Britain and other European countries, defended the gang, saying: ‘This is a wake-up call for society to ask, ‘where are we headed?’ There is a clash between Islam and liberal democracy in hotspot areas of London.’

Choudary has previously led a campaign, known as the Islamic Emirates Project, to turn twelve British cities—including what he calls ‘Londonistan’ — into independent Islamic states. The so-called Islamic Emirates would function as autonomous enclaves, ruled by Sharia law and governed entirely outside British jurisprudence.

By Calvin Onsarigo and Alloys Musyoka, allAfrica – “Mombasa Muslim Association chairman Shaahid Sheikh was on Thursday attacked by radical Muslim youths at the troubled Sakina mosque in Mombasa’s Majengo area.

Shaahid, a trustee of the mosque, was assaulted after Maghrib prayers. He was rushed to hospital seriously injured.

Worshippers at Sakina said Shaahid had delivered a message opposing the wave of radicalisation and the forceful takeover of mosques by youths preaching ‘jihad sermons’.

Shaahid had called media houses for a press conference to be held after the evening prayer at the mosque. Mombasa CID boss Nyaga Gachugi said the matter has been reported at Makupa police station and is being investigated.

‘The youths were angered by the sheikh’s statement and attacked him as he left the mosque. But he was rescued and whisked away,’ he said.

Anti-Terrorism Police Unit officers are profiling six key leaders alleged to be behind the recent upsurge in radicalisation in Mombasa and Kisauni mosques.

On Monday, a radical youth from Majengo, 34-year-old Jamal Salim Mwangi, turned himself in to police after he claimed ATPU officers were trailing him.

Police confirmed that Salim was under police surveillance for allegedly recruiting youths to fight alongside Somalia’s al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab.” Read more.

Mohabat News – “Reports from Iran indicate that five Christian converts from a house-church in eastern Tehran were arrested during a Christmas celebration. Iranian Christian converts face constant restrictions and persecution.

According to Mohabat News, Iranian security authorities raided a house, owned by Mr. Hosseini, where a group of Christians had gathered to celebrate Christmas on Tuesday, December 24. They arrested Mr. Hosseini , Ahmad Bazyar, Faegheh Nasrollahi, Mastaneh Rastegari, and Amir-Hossein Ne’matollahi.

The report received by Mohabat News stated: ‘These Christians had gathered to worship and celebrate birth of Jesus.’

The Committee of Human Rights Reporters reported that armed plain-clothes security officers raided the house-church, insulted and searched those in attendance, thoroughly searched the house and seized all Christian books, CDs, and laptops they found. They also took the Satellite TV receiver.

The authorities also searched a neighboring house , because those present were observing the raid. They insulted and beat the father of the family and warned them not to speak with anyone about what they had witnessed.

There is still no update about the whereabouts or condition of these arrested Christians.

In recent years the authorities have intensified their pressure and threats against Christians around Christmas, and increased their surveillance of churches.” Read more.

Fox News – “A pair of suicide bombings that left 31 dead in Russia could be a chilling tune-up for the Olympic Games, where a Muslim terrorist leader has vowed to put Chechnya’s long-standing grievance with Moscow in the international spotlight, according to terrorism experts.

Although no one has claimed responsibility for the twin bombings, which occurred less than 24 hours apart in the city of Volgograd, formerly known as Stalingrad, terror experts strongly suspect they were inspired, if not ordered, by Chechen Muslim rebel leader Doku Umarov. Umarov, who calls himself the emir of the terror group the Caucasus Emirate, has called on Muslims to attack civilians and to prevent the Olympics from occurring.

The games, scheduled to begin in six weeks in Sochi, the Black Sea resort about 400 miles southwest of Volgograd, are ‘Satanic dancing on the bones of our ancestors,’ Umarov said in a video released online in July.

‘No Olympics in recent memory will commence as inauspiciously at the 2014 Sochi Games,’ Hoffman told FoxNews.com. ‘Although fear of terrorist attack has been a staple of Olympics security for the past four decades, the back-to-back blasts yesterday and today, coupled with another attack in the same city in October, are likely intended to be the opening salvos in a sustained terrorist campaign.

‘This would be unprecedented in Olympic history and likely reflects the perpetrators’ intention to disrupt the games even before the opening ceremony,’ Hoffman added.

In the first attack, a bomber authorities believe may have been a woman detonated explosives in front of a metal detector just outside a train station entrance Sunday as a suspicious police sergeant approached to check the bomber’s ID. The officer was one of 17 killed by the blast. Hours later, early Monday, a suicide bomber on a bus killed at least 14 people and left nearly 30 wounded, Russian officials said. The bombs were similar, according to Vladimir Markin, the spokesman for Russia’s main investigative agency.

‘That confirms the investigators’ version that the two terror attacks were linked,’ Markin said in a statement. ‘They could have been prepared in one place.’

Egypt: Muslim Brotherhood Attacks Continue Against Christian Homes, Businesses, Churches

The Christian Post – “Copts in the village of Tarshoub, Beni Suef, Upper Egypt, are experiencing intimidation after extremists attacked them on Monday. Aggressors threw stones at Coptic homes, burned a tuk-tuk truck owned by a Copt named Magdy Fathi Rizk and a store owned by Badr Maher.

They also destroyed the fronts of some houses and called for the closure of the church, which dates back more than 40 years in the village.

Father Malak Shehata from the Fashn Diocese told Mideast Christian News that the village of Tarshoub has been served by Father Andrawis, who moved to serve in another location. When the Fashn Diocese delegated a new priest to serve in the village and Copts tried to prepare a residence for him in the church, some Muslims gathered and refused to let the priest enter the church. This was led by Muslim Brotherhood supporters in the village.

During a reconciliation meeting held yesterday to resolve the situation, the Brotherhood members mobilized the villagers to attack the homes of Christians and prevented the priest from entering the village. They closed the church and Copts could not practice their prayers.

A witness from the village said that they had prayed in the church for many years and there was no problem with their Muslim neighbors until a new priest was ordained. When Copts started to furnish a residence for the priest in the church, a Brotherhood-associate named Ramadan Wahballah mobilized his supporters to reject the reconciliation meeting …” Read more.

In a video newly released Saturday, Abubakar Shekau claims responsibility for the Dec. 20 attack on a tank battalion barracks and says his men would have eaten their enemies, but Allah forbids cannibalism. Witnesses said insurgents put soldiers to flight and set the complex ablaze before they were driven off by a jetfighter.

Shekau warns Christians not to go to churches in this holy month, though Christmas passed in Nigeria with none of the feared terrorist attacks. Five churches were bombed Christmas Day 2011 and dozens of people died.

Firstpost – “Youths threw petrol bombs at two Kenyan churches on Christmas day, police said on Thursday, in the latest bout of violence against Christians on the country’s predominantly Muslim coast.

Police and witnesses said the churches on the edge of port city of Mombasa were attacked in the early hours of December 25 after churchgoers held services to usher in Christmas.

Police had no suspects but were exploring the possibility that the attacks may have been launched by Muslim militants or by supporters of the Mombasa Republican Council (MRC), an illegal movement that wants the coastal region to secede from Kenya.

Many Muslims on the Indian Ocean coastline feel marginalised by Kenya’s predominantly Christian government and the historically cordial relations between the two communities have suffered strains in recent years.

Police said Muslim youths believed to be controlled by radical preachers with links to Somali militant group al Shabaab might be behind the attacks, which left one church completely destroyed.

‘The churches are located in an area mainly inhabited by Muslims, and church members had reported threats before from some youth who told them to close the churches down,’ said Robert Mureithi, the Likoni area police chief.” Read more.

Global Islamism: Prospects For 2014 (And It Isn’t Looking Good)

By Majid Rafizadeh, FrontPage Mag – “Thanks to the Obama administration’s uninformed and flimsy foreign policy decisions, the year 2013 has distinctively been a blessing for the independent Islamist parties and fundamentalist Islamic governments throughout the Middle East and the world. Although it is somewhat difficult to predict what will happen in 2014 regarding the Islamists movements and prominent challenges within that (along with Iran’s nuclear ambitions), several issues can be projected based on the trends and polices carried out in 2013.

Firstly, the foreign and domestic policies carried out by the Obama administration have led to several key trends.  In 2013, Islamists and fundamentalists affiliated with Al-Qaeda and other Islamists parties have gained an unprecedented level of power, organization, and coordination, particularly across the Middle East and Africa. In Syria, for example, the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), has emerged as among the most powerful jihadi groups. This particular Islamist group, which seeks to rule Syria and the Levant just as the Taliban did in Afghanistan (along with fighting against infidels), has become more centralized through obtaining a unified command-and-control structure, ideologically and politically.

Reportedly, this Islamist party— which has been behind thousands of beheadings, in many cases proudly beheading people and showing it on videos— is advocating for the systematic genocide of Shi’ite Muslims or others who are ‘damaging Mohammed’s legacy’ in perpetrating their beliefs. Currently, ISIL is the most powerful oppositional group in Syria, even overshadowing the Free Syrian Army and other rebels. It is argued that many of the arms sent to the Free Syrian Army were actually obtained by several Islamist groups, including ISIL. In late 2013, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights labeled the Al Qaeda-affiliated Islamic State of Iraq and al-Shams as ‘the strongest group in Northern Syria.’

Beheading ordinary people, taking videos (such as the reported beheading of a young Christian girl in this widespread video, or others as seen in this video), targeting non-Muslims (primarily Christians), raping women, and kidnapping non-Muslims have become daily practice in several Muslim countries, carried out by either independent Islamist groups or by those who have recently gained control of the sovereignty of the state.

In Serbia – “Orthodox church dedicated to the Beheading of St. John the Baptist in the village of Samodreza near Vucitrn, was desecrated and turned into a garbage dump. The altar of this Serbian shrine, built on the place where Prince Lazar received communion with the army before the Battle of Kosovo, Albanian children turned into a public toilet, writes ‘Kurir’.

All attempts to stop the desecration of the Orthodox church were unsuccessful because the Albanian population is against its renewal. The church was burned, vandalized and desecrated for the first time in 1999 after international forces arrived in Kosovo, writes the daily.

The roof of the church was destroyed, windows and the metal door on it broken, and over the apse a large hole was breached. The interior of the church is turned into a public garbage dump and a toilet in which people and the cattle relieve, writes ‘Kurir’. The wall around the church is destroyed. This Orthodox church is literally cluttered with garbage, according to the daily.

‘The holy temple was destroyed back in 1999, and in recent years Albanian children keep throwing garbage in it. We tried several times to stop the further desecration through the international community and proposed placement of brass doors and windows, but the Albanian community opposes renewal,’ said Bishop of Raska and Prizren Teodosije for ‘Telegraf’.” Source – In Serbia.

VOR – “An unnamed Yemeni man has allegedly stomped on a woman’s neck to rid the patient of what he believed was a demon in her body. Cops arrested the Quran healer, who supposedly treats and cures those with ailments by chanting verses from the holy Quran, when a patient was found dead, according to a local newspaper.

The newspaper said that the relatives of a 23-year old woman brought her to the spiritual doctor saying she suffered from psychological problems. The husband, who had just married the woman, said that the healer told them that she was suffering from a demonic possession and magic and that he had to use forces to treat her.

The healer began stepping on her neck as a way to ‘exorcise a demon from her body’. It has been reported that once the man heard about his wife’s death, he collapsed. Treatment centers, which use the verses of the Quran to heal, can be found in many different locations in Yemen.
