Pakistan: Earthquake Death Toll Rises, Tens Of Thousands Of Homes Flattened Across 15,400 Square Miles

10/01/2013 3 comments

The Nation – “The death toll from two powerful earthquakes that devastated an impoverished region of Balochistan has climbed to 825, National Disaster Management Authority said on Tuesday.

More than 30 villages, containing some 20,000 homes, were flattened across 15,400 square miles of the remote Balochistan region.

Dozens of bodies are being recovered every day from mud homes whose walls and beams have been reduced to dust and rubble.

Conditions are desperate among the survivors and many are going without food, water and shelter, having lost everything in the quake.

So far, no relief camp has been established Mashkay, Gashgor and Malar areas where quack victims waiting for government help under open skies.

Baloch rebel militant group’s attacks on security forces disturbed rescue operation in quake-hit areas of restive province.

According to PDMA, rescue teams will be sent to the affected areas only after security clearance.

The quake is Pakistan s deadliest since the Kashmir tremor of 2005 which killed 73,000. The toll is expected to rise further as rescue teams dig through the rubble of countless flattened mud-brick homes.” Source – The Nation.

Yale Professor: Fukushima Is ‘A World-Wide Disaster Of The Most Epic Proportions Just Waiting To Happen’

10/01/2013 Leave a comment

By Christina Sarich, Natural Society – “A Yale Professor is compelling the world to wake up from its nuclear slumber and face some cold-hard facts, ‘All of humanity will be threatened for thousands of years’ if the Fukushima Unit 4 pool can’t be kept cool. Your worries about eating cesium-contaminated fish from the Pacific Ocean are grounded in fact, but this is a world-wide disaster of the most epic proportions just waiting to happen. If nothing else, it points to the necessity of nuclear-free power to fuel the planet, but in the meantime, more than 1,535 fuel rods must be meticulously removed from Unit 4, which in all likelihood is crumbling.

Charles Perrow, Professor Emeritus of Sociology from Yale University cautions:

“Conditions in the unit 4 pool, 100 feet from the ground, are perilous, and if any two of the rods touch it could cause a nuclear reaction that would be uncontrollable. The radiation emitted from all these rods, if they are not continually cool and kept separate, would require the evacuation of surrounding areas including Tokyo. Because of the radiation at the site the 6,375 rods in the common storage pool could not be continuously cooled; they would fission and all of humanity will be threatened, for thousands of years. […]”

In early stages of the Fukushima disaster Tepco, under influence of the Nuclear and Industiral Safety Agency (NISA), tried to keep the full ramifications of Fukushima under wraps, and now the entire country faces a possible trillion dollar price tag and multiple decades of active clean up to make this go away, but that will all be a moot point if the fuel rods aren’t removed properly.

All the boron between spent fuel rods has disintegrated. This means a nuclear chain reaction could ensue if the rods get too close together in the pools, causing nuclear mayhem like we’ve never endured. In less than two months, Tepco plans to try to remove these rods, admitting that they haven’t the expertise or resources to do it perfectly – and that is what it would take – absolute perfection.

According to globalreasearch.ca, ‘Some 400 tons of fuel in that pool could spew out more than 15,000 times as much radiation as was released at Hiroshima.’

“More than 6,000 fuel assemblies now sit in a common pool just 50 meters from Unit Four. Some contain plutonium. The pool has no containment over it. It’s vulnerable to loss of coolant, the collapse of a nearby building, another earthquake, another tsunami and more.

Overall, more than 11,000 fuel assemblies are scattered around the Fukushima site. According to long-time expert and former Department of Energy official Robert Alvarez, there is more than 85 times as much lethal cesium on site as was released at Chernobyl.”

Saudi Arabia: Grand Mufti Again Calls For The Destruction Of All Churches In The Region

10/01/2013 Leave a comment

Can we even begin to imagine the outcry from livid liberals and dhimmedia if Christian figures such as Billy Graham or the Pope continually called for the destruction of all mosques in the “Bible Belt” or in Europe? It would be unrelenting. But when one of the most important and influential leaders of the Muslim world stands up and calls for all churches in Arabia to be destroyed, Miley Cyrus is deemed more newsworthy …

“I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” – Jesus Christ

Pravoslavie – “Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah has once again called for the destruction of all Churches on the Arabian Peninsula.

Bin Abdullah, head of the Ulema Council and the Standing Committee on Fatwas, made this statement after a presentation by the Kuwaiti parliamentarian Osama Al-Munawer of the bill that bans construction of new non-Muslim religious buildings in Kuwait.

The Mufti stated that, according to Islamic law, all churches in the region must be demolished; i.e., Islam is the only legal religion here. The words of Muhammad that ‘there cannot be two religions on the Arabian peninsula’ the head of the Sunni always interprets in favor of Islam.

Not long ago, owing to the consecration of a Catholic Church in United Arab Emirates, the local Christians expected the opening of negotiations concerning the construction of the first church in Saudi Arabia. At the present time, from 3 to 4 million immigrant Christians work in this Muslim country, according to various sources.

In June, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, consecrated the new Church of St. Antonio in United Arab Emirates, near Dubai. The Church of St. Paul in Abu Dhabi is currently in the first stage of development. Early this year, the king of Bahrain donated land for the construction of a new church for a Christian community.” Source – Pravoslavie.ru.

Second Chance: Muslim Man Has Brain Aneurysm, Converts To Christianity After Waking Up From Coma

10/01/2013 1 comment

Although coming to Christ will sometimes be a process that happens over time for many, the Author and Finisher of our faith will be faithful to complete it in all who seek Him. May the Lord continue to move in the hearts and minds of all those who yearn for His Salvation …

1 Corinthians 1:18, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

Hebrews 12:1-2, “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

By Morgan Lee, Christian Post – “Karim Shamsi-Basha was still a Muslim when a sudden brain aneurysm left him in a coma for almost a month in 1992. After the Syrian-born Shamsi-Basha made an amazing almost-complete recovery, his neurosurgeon, recognizing the rarity of what had occurred, told him that he had ‘seen very few people recover as you did. You have to find out why you survived.’

These would be the words that catalyze an almost 20 year journey that would eventually lead Shamsi-Basha to Jesus Christ.

Shamsi-Basha’s new book, Paul and Me, tells of this quest, and recounts how he spent close to two decades of his life discovering Jesus and learning his purpose, which he now testifies is ‘to share God’s love with people and let them know He loves all his children.’

Released last month, the book intersperses chapters of Shamsi-Basha’s own life and walk with God, with various theologians’ thoughts about Paul, one of the Bible’s most central figures, whose own conversion experience took place in the ancient Syrian city of Damascus.

Shamsi-Basha grew up in a Muslim family in a Syria he says was tolerant of all faiths. Indeed, his best friend was a Christian, the two were frequently at each other’s houses, and had all sorts of discussions and arguments with each other about faith, though no one ever succeeded in converting the other.

While his family practiced Islam culturally, Shamsi-Basha says he was ‘very serious in [his] teenage years.’

‘I prayed five times a day. I walked to the mosque before sunrise. I fasted the month of Ramadan,’ he added.

Tired of the corruption of the first Assad regime, Shamsi-Basha immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 to attend the University of Tennessee. From there he married, had his first son and moved to his current residence of Birmingham, Al. before he was struck by the brain aneurysm.

After his recovery, Shamsi-Basha began reading the Bible, struck by its focus on God’s love and grace, and was baptized in 1996 in what he terms was his ‘near-conversion.’

But, Shamsi-Basha said, it took over 10 more years, and the dissolution of his first marriage, the death of his father, homelessness and another failed relationship, for him to ultimately be at a place to fully accept Christ as his Lord and Savior, a process that is his new book’s focal point.

‘In 2008 I completely surrendered to God,’ he said. ‘Now I can’t get enough.’

Meanwhile, Shamsi-Basha now tells everyone he can that he credits Jesus Christ and the saving grace of God for his conversion. ‘Salvation is of the Lord,’ he firmly emphasized to The Christian Post, adding that God takes ‘credit for my conversion. It was the grace of God that saved me.'” Read more.

Competition Between Islamist Militants May Fuel Big Attacks

10/01/2013 1 comment

What we are witnessing is not the competitive spirit, but the spirit of a whole different kind …

Ephesians 6:12-13, “For our struggle is not against fnflesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.”

By Myra MacDonald, Reuters – “The assault on Kenya’s Westgate shopping mall has brought into sharp relief a pattern likely to complicate efforts to counter Islamist militants – competition among jihadis can increase the risk of a major attack.

As with the 2008 assault on the Indian city of Mumbai and this year’s raid on an Algerian desert gas plant, the attack in Nairobi by Somalia’s al Shabaab was preceded by in-fighting or loss of supporters to other militant groups.

This competition can initially make groups seem divided and weak, while actually making them more dangerous if a leader then feels compelled to mount a big attack to burnish his jihadi credentials – thereby bringing in fresh recruits and funding.

Western counter-terrorism officials have long been aware of the risk that intensive security measures adopted at home following the Sept 11, 2001 attacks on the United States are driving militants to target Westerners overseas.

But the impact of competition, sometimes caused by government efforts to curb militants, is only just beginning to be understood. It was thrown into sharp relief by the mall attack by al Shabaab, which killed 67 people.

Recognised by al Qaeda as an affiliate in 2012, the group had suffered from internal feuding as African Union forces, including troops from Kenya, drove them out of urban strongholds.

These rifts rose dramatically to the surface when the American-born Omar Hammami tweeted about what he said were attempts on his life by al Shabaab assassins sent by the group’s leader. He was reported to have been killed this month in Somalia.

JIHADIST FORCE

While it is too early to assess all the motivations behind the attack on the Westgate mall [ICA: They separated Muslims from non-Muslims and slaughtered anyone who lost their game of 20 questions. What is there to assess?], the attention it received could help al Shabaab leader Ahmed Godane achieve his ambition of rebranding his group as a significant jihadist force, leading analysts to warn that more attacks could follow.” Read more.

Flashback: ‘What Are You Waiting For?’ – Al-Qaeda Calls on US Muslims to Buy Guns and Start Killing Americans – “If an event were to occur in the world that would be eschatologically pivotal for Muslims this would be sure to awaken any radical elements within the Muslim population, regardless of where they live, and even radicalize some of those who were previously considered ‘moderate’… If we are complacent into believing that any such scenario could never happen or is highly unlikely, we don’t need to look far before we come face to face with the sobering reality that Islamic terrorist cells are, today, already forming within our own borders.” Read more.
