The Daily Caller – “The Council on American Islamic Relations repeatedly tried to stop a Minnesota community leader from warning about the dangers al-Qaida-linked group posed to the Somali-American community prior to the Kenyan mall massacre.

‘I tried to warn America,’ Abdirizak Bihi, a Minnesota-based Somali community leader, explained to The Daily Caller.

Minnesota residents were reportedly among the attackers in the grisly assault by al-Shabaab terrorists on the Westgate mall in Nairobi, Kenya. The Twin Cities are home to the largest Somali community in the United States.

Bihi has been working to stop radicalization of Somali-Americans for years. He has testified before Congress about the dangers of radicalization in the U.S. Somali community, working alongside the FBI and the Justice Department. His involvement is personal. Bihi’s nephew was radicalized by al-Shabaab and joined the group in 2008. He was killed the following year.

But he told The Daily Caller the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) has blocked his efforts for years, telling law enforcement agencies by telling them that he doesn’t know the Somali community and calling him “an Islamophobe” in a recent report.

‘They say that I am a bad person, that I am anti-Muslim, and that I don’t represent a hundred percent the Somali community,’ Bihi said. ‘They lie about my life most of the time and try to destroy my character, my capability, and my trust in the community.’

Bihi, director of the Somali Education and Social Advocacy Center, also says CAIR has tried to bring Somalis into the organization and denies the threat that terrorism poses.” Read more.

By Alissa de Carbonnel, Reuters – “Russia’s senior Islamic clerics warned the country’s leaders on Friday unrest could erupt in Muslim communities in Russia and beyond if a court decision ordering the destruction of a interpretive translation of Koran is not overturned.

Tuesday’s ruling by a court in Novorossiysk, a city in southern Russia, ordered the widely read text outlawed under a Russian anti-extremism law that rights activists say has been abused by local officials out of prejudice or to persecute groups frowned upon by the dominant Russian Orthodox Church.

Rights campaigners said that the decision, which will apply nationwide unless it is overturned on appeal, comes dangerously close to banning the Koran itself.

Russia’s Council of Muftis sounded the alarm in an open letter on Friday to President Vladimir Putin, who has frequently called for unity among the leading faiths and warned that ethnic tension could tear Russia apart.

‘Russian Muslims are very strongly indignant over such an outrageous decision,’ Rushan Abbyasov, the deputy head of the council, which has close ties with the Kremlin, told Reuters.

If the ruling is acted on, the cleric warned: ‘There will be unrest … not only in Russia but all over the world, we are talking about the destruction of the Koran.’

In the letter to Putin, the council drew a parallel with violence in the Middle East and Afghanistan over the actions of an American pastor, Terry Jones, who threatened to burn the Koran on September 11, 2010.

‘Is it necessary to discuss how the destruction of books, especially sacred religious books, has been received in Russia in the past?’ it said.” Read more.

Yesterday afternoon it was packed with shoppers when heavily armed gunmen burst in and began shooting and killing non-Muslims…unbelievers…infidels…in cold blood.

People who identified themselves as Muslims or who the gunmen thought were Muslim were allowed to leave and were unharmed.

Non-Muslims … unbelievers … infidels … were shot and killed. As of this writing 69 people are confirmed dead and another 175 have been wounded. The situation is still ongoing and the number of dead and wounded is expected to rise once it becomes resolved. Women, children and the elderly are among the dead and wounded.

The gunmen are identified as belonging to al-Shabab, a Somali Islamist terrorist group that has sworn allegiance to al-Qaeda and is fighting to make Islam and Sharia supreme in Somalia. Kenya was targeted because as part of the African Union it is sending soldiers to Somalia to fight the Islamists there, the mall was targeted because of its popularity with foreigners and expatriates and because it is partially Israeli owned and non-Muslims … unbelievers … infidels were targeted because the Islamist murderers wanted to sow terror and send a message to the Kenyan government and decided that slaughtering them was the best way to do it, slaughtering non-Muslims … unbelievers … infidels being permissible, legitimate and obligatory according to Islam.

The West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is the largest shopping mall in North America and one of the largest in the world … it was the largest in the world until 2004. There are over 800 stores and services in the mall and it attracts anywhere between 60 and 150,000 shoppers per day. People come from all over Canada, the United States and the rest of the world to shop there.

Lapido Media – “MIDDLE EAST historian Tom Holland told a briefing in London last night that the world is watching the effective extinction of Christianity from its birthplace.

In an apocalyptic appraisal of the worsening political situation in the region, a panel of experts provided a mass of evidence and statistics for the end of the region’s nation states under the onslaught of militant Islam.

‘In terms of the sheer scale of the hatreds and sectarian rivalries, we are witnessing something on the scale of horror of the European Thirty Years War,’ said Holland.

Fox News – “Kenya’s interior minister says two male Islamic militants have been killed and more hostages have been freed as military forces led a new rescue operation Monday inside a mall in Nairobi.

Fox News has confirmed that Interior Minister Joseph Ole Lenku said the two militants died and some hostages were freed in the latest efforts to end the ongoing siege waged by al-Shabab, a Somali group with ties to Al Qaeda. Lenju did not provide the current number of militants still believed to be in the mall, but said the amount of hostages left was minimal.

Sustained gunfire was heard coming from the Westgate mall and four loud blasts shook the building Monday morning, sending plumes of thick smoke into the sky, and signaling a new attack on the militants who have been holding hostages inside since Saturday. The gunmen holed up inside the mall had caused the smoke by setting mattresses on fire in a supermarket as a decoy, according to a Reuters report.

Officials say at least 62 people were killed and 200 wounded in the weekend attack, while 63 were reported missing.

Kenya Chief of Defense Gen. Julius Karangi said he believes the attackers are from many countries. ‘We have an idea who these people are and they are clearly a multinational collection from all over the world,’ he said.” Read more.

North American And European Muslims Reportedly Among The Group Of Attackers – “There are believed to be between 10-15 gunmen involved in the attack, officials said. Sources within Al-Shabaab told CNN that nine names listed on a Twitter site — now suspended — were people who were among the alleged hostage-takers. Three of the alleged attackers are from the United States, two are from Somalia and there is one each from Canada, Finland, Kenya and the United Kingdom, according to the list.” Read more.
