Maryland: Islamists Demand Schools Close For Islamic Holidays In Montgomery County

I guess they’re not happy enough with the 15-acre mega mosque being built in small-town Maryland or the fact that many schools all across America are already praising the “virtues” of Islam. The Muslim Brotherhood’s CAIR and their supporters are now demanding more actions that speak louder than words, and with their good friend Barack Hussein Obama paving the way for Sharia law in America, this is bound to happen sooner rather than later …

The “Green Horse” Marches

WND – “Muslims in Montgomery County, Md., are petitioning local school officials to add two Islamic holidays that vary from year to year to the school calendar, and if needed, to shorten the ‘winter break’ to make up for the days off.

‘There is no need for any MCPS students to miss classroom instruction time if schools were to close for Eid holidays,’ their petition argues. ‘There is a state law that mandates at least 180 classroom instruction days per year. That won’t change. If schools were to close on Eid holidays the missed days could easily be made up by slightly shortening the lengthy winter or summer breaks.

‘Alternatively any of the many pre-existing school closings could be moved to coincide with Eid holidays,’ the petition argues.

The Muslims want schools to close on Islamic holidays because they observe the Christian holidays of Easter and Christmas, and the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah. The dates of Muslim holidays vary because they are based on the Islamic calendar.

The Muslims argue that the county schools already close on ‘Christmas, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Passover.’

The school calendar, however, notes that Yom Kippur is on a Saturday, and Passover is not mentioned.

Nevertheless, they want recognition of Eid al-Fitr, to mark the end of Ramadan, and Eid al-Adha, marking a pilgrimage to Mecca.

‘Currently the thousands of Muslim MCPS staff and students have to choose between their education and observing their religious practices,’ the coalition argues. ‘This is not a choice that our Christian and Jewish neighbors face on their holidays.’

According to a report in the local Gazette, the sponsor of the move is the Maryland chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR.

The Muslim coalition said other school districts that acknowledge their holidays include Burlington, Vt.; Cambridge, Mass.; Dearborn, Mich.; Skokie, Ill.; and Paterson and Trenton, N.J.” Read more.

Pakistan: At Least 85 Christians Massacred After Suicide Bombers Attack Historic Church In Peshawar

By Emily Allen, Mail Online – “Two suicide bombers detonated their explosives outside a historic church in Pakistan today killing 85 people in the deadliest-ever attack on the country’s Christian minority.

The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the bombing in the city of Peshawar, saying it would continue to target non-Muslims until the US stopped drone attacks in the country’s remote tribal region.

The latest drone strike came on Sunday when missiles hit a pair of compounds in the North Waziristan tribal area, killing six suspected militants, Pakistani intelligence officials said.

The attack on All Saints Church, which also wounded 140 people, underlines the threat posed by the Pakistani Taliban at a time when the government is seeking a peace deal with the militants.

The attack occurred as hundreds of worshippers were coming out of the church in the city’s Kohati Gate district after services to get a free meal of rice.

Survivors wailed and hugged each other in the wake of the blasts. The white walls of the church, which first opened in the late 1800s, were pockmarked with holes caused by ball bearings or other metal objects contained in the bombs to cause maximum damage.

Blood stained the floor and was splashed on the walls. Plates filled with rice were scattered across the ground.

The attack was carried out by a pair of suicide bombers who detonated their explosives almost simultaneously. Authorities found body parts and have been trying to determine their age.

The blasts killed 85 people and wounded another 140. The dead included women and children.

The number of casualties from the blasts was so high that the hospital was running out of caskets for the dead and beds for the wounded, said Mian Iftikhar Hussain, a former information minister of surrounding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province who was on the scene.” Read more.
