Islamist Killings Of Christians On The Rise In Somalia

03/24/2013 Leave a comment

ICC – “The recent fatal shooting of a father of four by suspected Islamic extremists in the coastal city of Kismayo unmasked the pervasive threat to Christians in the nation, and hurt Somalia’s efforts to improve their human rights record.

Last month, two masked men killed Ahmed Ali Jimale, a 42-year old businessman, teacher and medical consultant. Jimale used to give private lessons on medicine and first aid, blending his teaching with discussions on the Bible and the Koran. He was shot to death in a hit-and-run killing while standing outside his house, near a police station. He is survived by his wife and 4 children, aged 10, 8, 6 and 4.

Jimale, like all Christians in Somalia, was an underground Christian. His teaching is believed to have drawn the attention of the Islamic extremists, Al Shabaab, who began to suspect that he was guilty of ‘apostasy’ and began sending him death threats. Towards the end of 2012, he received warnings on his cellphone, such as: ‘We have been monitoring your activities’ and ‘You have to stop introducing the children to foreign Christian religion, as well as your close working relation with a foreign organization, otherwise we shall come for your head.’

At the time, Jimale was an employee of an NGO that often worked with Christians and westerners, both considered by extremists to be enemies of the state. After Al Shabaab was ousted from the region by the Somali National Army and the Kenya Defense Forces, Jimale was emboldened to discuss religion with greater freedom and fewer inhibitions. This, along with his constant partnership with ‘foreigners’ and Christians, allegedly led to his murder. His wife is said to be frightened for her own life and the future of her children…

Somalia has a nearly 100 percent Muslim population and anyone who converts to Christianity is deemed, by extremists, to be guilty of apostasy and deserving of death. Jimale’s murder is the latest in a series of killings of Christians who were suspected of leaving Islam to follow a ‘foreign religion.'” Read more.

Iran Intensifies Violent Crackdown On Christians, Even Imprisoning Nursing Mothers For Being Non-Muslim

03/24/2013 1 comment

I cannot help but to remember the words of Christ as He described the horrors that would befall some of those who believed in Him as His return drew near …

Matthew 24:19,22, “But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! … unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.”

By Benjamin Weinthal, Fox News – “Iran’s hard-line regime has intensified its violent crackdown on Christians and other religious minorities, even imprisoning nursing mothers for practicing their faith, according to a new UN report.

The March report provides a rare, detailed view into the shocking treatment of Christians in Iran, where American Pastor Saeed Abedini is serving an eight-year sentence for his alleged work with Christians.

‘The persecution of Christians has increased,’ said Ahmed Shaheed, the UN’s expert on human rights in Iran. ‘It seems to target new converts and those who run house churches.’

At least 13 Protestant Christians are currently in detention centers across Iran, and more than 300 Christians have been arrested since June 2010, according to the report. In addition to Christians, the nation’s 350,000 Bahai, who form Iran’s largest non-Muslim faith, have suffered under Tehran’s repression.

While most of the cases have not made headlines, the report spotlighted some examples.

Iran’s judicial authorities sentenced Christian Pastor Behnam Irani in 2011 and church leader Farshid Fathi in 2012 to six-year prison terms. Irani was convicted of ‘actions against the state,’ because he preached Christianity, while Fathi was convicted of ‘religious propaganda.’

Abedini was sentenced in late January to eight years in Iran’s Evin prison for practicing Christianity in Iran.

Fathi was accused of distributing Persian-language Bibles and coordinating trips for church members to attend religious seminars and conferences outside the country, the report stated.

Iran’s regime shut down the home-based Janat Abad Assemblies of God Church in Tehran last year.

‘Fundamentally, it is an issue of intolerance of different views,’ Shaheed said.

There is a ‘new Islamization in part of the government’ that might explain the spike in repression targeting Christians, he added.” Read more.

Russian Ministry Of Foreign Affairs: ‘Get All Money Out Of Western Banks Now!’

03/24/2013 1 comment

EU Times – “A Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) ‘urgent bulletin’ being sent to Embassies around the world today is advising both Russian citizens and companies to begin divesting their assets from Western banking and financial institutions ‘immediately’ as Kremlin fears grow that both the European Union and United States are preparing for the largest theft of private wealth in modern history.

According to this ‘urgent bulletin,’ this warning is being made at the behest of Prime Minister Medvedev who earlier today warned against the Western banking systems actions against EU Member Cyprus by stating:

‘All possible mistakes that could be made have been made by them, the measure that was proposed is of a confiscation nature, and unprecedented in its character. I can’t compare it with anything but … decisions made by Soviet authorities … when they didn’t think much about the savings of their population. But we are living in the 21st century, under market economic conditions. Everybody has been insisting that ownership rights should be respected.’

Medvedev’s statements echo those of President Putin who, likewise, warned about the EU’s unprecedented private asset grab in Cyprus calling it ‘unjust, unprofessional, and dangerous.

In our 17 March report ‘Europe Recoils In Shock After Bankster Raid, US Warned Is Next‘ we noted how Russian entities have €23-31 billion ($30-$40) in cross-border loans to Cypriot companies tied to Moscow, and €9 billion ($12 billion) on deposit with Cypriot banks [as compared to the €127 billion ($166 billion) being kept in similar circumstances by 60 of the United States largest corporations in offshore accounts to avoid paying American taxes] which are in danger of being confiscated by EU banksters.

Unbowed by the misery they have inflicted upon the entire continent, however, and in spite of Russian warnings, European Union officials hardened their stance against Cyprus today by announcing that if the Cypriot government did not allow the raiding of private bank accounts by Monday they would be forced to destroy their banks, which remain closed for the seventh straight day and have no signs of opening soon.” Read more.

Christian Today – “Christians are calling for prayers and for peace and reconciliation in Tanzania following a horrific attack on the residence of Archbishop Valentino Mokiwa – the Bishop of Dar Es Salaam and Primate of the Anglican Church of Tanzania.

On the night of Saturday 2 March a security guard at the residence of the Archbishop was attacked by unknown assailants wielding machetes or ‘panga.’ The guard is recovering and the Archbishop has asked for prayers for healing from the physical and mental scars that such an unprovoked attack has caused.

There is no proof who led the attack, but people purporting to be Muslim Fundamentalists had threatened the Archbishop and his name was included on a list of ‘most wanted’ alongside the Archbishops of the Roman Catholic Church and Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania.

Dar Es Salaam is Arabic for ‘the abode of peace’ and true Islam is known as the way of peace. The relationship between Christians and Muslims across the country has historically been good. Provincial Secretary Canon Dickson Chilongani said, ‘For many years we have lived in peace with Muslims and so peace and reconciliation will always be at the forefront.'” Read more.

Rumor: Syria’s Bashar al-Assad Shot By Bodyguard, May Be ‘Seriously Wounded’ Or Killed

03/24/2013 3 comments

A subsequent update indicates that Bashar al-Assad was “seriously wounded” by gunfire late Saturday, March 23, 2013 and is clinging to life. I’ll update this post as more information comes in …

Update: Rumor is also being reported by New York’s Daily News

Update 2: Rumors continues to spread. Another report is now stating that Bashar al-Assad is confirmed dead and that Iran is attempting to control the Syrian army …

By Amos Lerah, JSS News (Translation) – “According to reports in the Arab press (and then republished in the Israeli press ), information that journalists say they have ‘verified’ the Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad was killed this morning by one of his bodyguards. An important safety device has been set up at the hospital in Damascus.

The assassin Boucher Damascus would be his bodyguard Iran, a military officer named Mehdi Jakoby. He was in charge of presidential security and was ‘offered’ by Tehran’s ally Syria.

According to various sources, there are reports of heavy fighting in any armed Damascus. The roads leading to the hospital would be closed.

Syrian TV premises have been abandoned.

If this information had to be officially confirmed, it would be a victory for the Islamists who are fighting for the seizure of power in Syria. No one really knows what will happen tomorrow if Assad is actually dead. Is that Iran will take a step back? Russia will she see red at the loss of his best friend? What about China? And the United States who still pledged this week to put a term “in the coming days,” the regime in Damascus, will they be strong enough to transmit the power to Syrian honest?” Source – JSS News.
