Report: Brilliant Meteor Lights Up Sky Over Texas, ‘It Has A Lot Of People Wondering Just What Is Going On High Above Us’

KPRC – “Many of KPRC Local 2 viewers noticed a fiery glow light up the sky Wednesday morning.

Capt. William Lowery was on his boat in the Freeport area when he saw a meteor fly across the sky in a brilliant orange flash around 3 a.m.

‘Nothing like that magnitude,’ said Lowery. ‘I’ve seen shooting stars, but this lasted three to four minutes.’

After the Russian meteor exploded across the sky, it prompted scientists to better identify large meteor and asteroid threats.

A team at the University of Hawaii is working on the Asteroid Terrestrial-Impact Last Alert System or ATLAS with the help of NASA. Scientists are hoping to one day provide one- to three-week warnings for possible regional disasters.” Source – Click2Houston.

Sudan: Convert To Christianity Struggles To See Children Because He’s No Longer A Member Of ‘The Popular Religion’ Of Islam

Morning Star News – “Mohammed Khidir Khalil Hassan, a Sudanese convert from Islam, has to be careful what songs he sings to his sons.

Nearly a year ago, after his wife left him and Christianity behind, a Sudanese court had ruled that as a convert from Islam he was forbidden to see his children, then ages 3 and 5. An appeals court overturned the ruling last October and allowed him visits, but he knows any pretext could be used to keep him from them.

During one recent visit, one of the boys asked him to sing a Christian praise song entitled ‘Hosanna,’ but he refrained – knowing his ex-wife and her Muslim family could use that as evidence that he was trying to convert the children to Christianity and automatically cancel his visitation rights.

‘I see no freedom at all,’ he said, pointing out that his ex-wife and her mother closely monitor his visits. ‘Such a system needs to be confronted. We have to decide to work for change in Sudan.’

A Sudanese court had ruled in March 2012 that his wife, as a member of ‘the popular religion,’ be awarded custody of the children. His wife had presented a copy of a U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees certificate showing Khalil’s testimony as a Christian, as they had obtained asylum in Egypt from religious persecution in Sudan. The certificate was proof enough for a Sudanese judge to rule that the marriage be annulled and the children handed over to the spouse professing Islam.

The ruling perhaps reflects the prevailing anti-Christianity hostility in the air since South Sudan seceded in July 2011. Harassment, violence and arrests of Christians have intensified since largely Christian South Sudan seceded and President Omar al-Bashir vowed to root the country more deeply in sharia (Islamic law).

Hassan now visits the boys twice a month, Friday and Saturday of the first and second week for four hours each.” Read more.

Flashback: Sudan Imam: ‘We Will Never Forgive Christians For Not Being Muslims’, Suggests That Christianity Must Be Eliminated Throughout The North – “… Muslims vie to take school land and anti-Christian messages emanate from a nearby mosque loudspeaker on most Fridays. Muslim leaders have been asserting through the mosque loudspeaker that Christian institutions should not be permitted in Sudan, as the country should be a ‘purely Islamic state’ since the secession of South Sudan on July 9, 2011, he said. ‘We are expecting the level of persecution to rise in Sudan in the coming days,’ a pastor who works at the Bible school told Morning Star News by phone, adding that hostilities against churches and Christians were intensifying.” Read more.

Turkish PM Erdogan: Zionism A ‘Crime Against Humanity’; UN Watch: Erdogan’s Gov’t ‘Is Hewing To A Confrontational Stance’

The man who could trigger World War III isn’t mincing words when it comes to hating those Zionist Jews and the nation of Israel. But worry not. He places Zionism as a “crime against humanity” on par with anti-Semitism. So his hatred of Jews and Israel really isn’t, well, anti-Semitic, right? …

Isaiah 10:12, “Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Lord has performed all His work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, that He will say, ‘I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his haughty looks.'”

By Raphael Ahren, The Times of Israel – “Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday described Zionism as a ‘crime against humanity’ on par with anti-Semitism and fascism.

Speaking in Vienna at a United Nations event devoted to dialogue between the West and Islam, Erdogan decried rising racism in Europe and the fact that many Muslims ‘who live in countries other than their own’ often face harsh discrimination.

‘We should be striving to better understand the culture and beliefs of others, but instead we see that people act based on prejudice and exclude others and despise them,’ Erdogan said, according to a simultaneous translation provided by the UN. ‘And that is why it is necessary that we must consider — just like Zionism or anti-Semitism or fascism — Islamophobia as a crime against humanity.’

The Turkish leader’s comments, made at the official opening of the fifth UN Alliance of Civilizations Global Forum, drew harsh criticism from UN Watch, a Geneva-based watchdog group monitoring anti-Israel bias and human rights abuses at the organization.

‘Erdogan’s misuse of this global podium to incite hatred, and his resort to Ahmadinejad-style pronouncements appealing to the lowest common denominator in the Muslim world, will only strengthen the belief that his government is hewing to a confrontational stance, and fundamentally unwilling to end its four-year-old feud with Israel,’ UN Watch said in a statement.

The group also criticized UN chief Ban Ki-moon — ‘who was present on the stage yet stayed silent’ — for not condemning Erdogan’s remarks.

‘We remind Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon that his predecessor Kofi Annan recognized that the UN’s 1975 Zionism-is-racism resolution was an expression of anti-Semitism, and he welcomed its repeal,’ the statement said.

UN General Assembly Resolution 3379, which was adopted by a vote of 72 to 35 (with 32 abstentions), stated that ‘Zionism is a form of racism and racial discrimination.’ Due to US pressure, it was revoked in 1991.” Read more.

PM Erdogan Attacks Assad … For Not Attacking Israel – “In his latest hateful remarks, Turkey’s Prime Minister on Sunday slammed Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad for slaughtering his own citizens, but also took advantage of the opportunity to once again verbally attack Israel… in a reference to Israel, Erdogan also said, according to the Jordan Times, ‘We will not remain silent in the face of the cruel dictator [Bashir Assad], the mute devil, who mercilessly carried out massacres against his own people, but who has remained silent and unresponsive toward those who have occupied his own territories for decades.’ The remarks are the latest in a verbal war that Erdogan has waged on Israel over the past several years.” Read more.
