Psychiatric Drugs To Blame? AP Reports Connecticut Killer Suffered From Personality Disorder And Autism

If Adam Lanza did indeed suffer from a “personality disorder” and was “somewhat autistic” as his brother reportedly claimed, then there is a good likelihood that he was prescribed psychiatric drugs for his condition. Michael Savage seems to think so. According to medical experts, drugs classified as SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors) may be prescribed to adults suffering from autism. The National Center for Biotechnology Information also recommends SSRIs for treatment in patients with personality disorders. And as you can see in the 2007 video from ABC News below, often with devastating results …

By Jason Howerton, The Blaze – “A law enforcement official says that the 20-year-old suspect in the Connecticut school shootings killed his mother at their home Friday and then drove his mother’s car to the school where he went on a deadly rampage.

The 20-year-old killer, identified as Adam Lanza, committed suicide at the school, bringing the death toll to 28, authorities said.

In an interview with ABC News, a relative said Adam was ‘obviously not well.’

Another friend said he ‘was not connected with the other kids.’ Further, other family friends described Adam as a troubled young man…

Meanwhile, in New Jersey, Adam Lanza’s older brother, Ryan, 24, of Hoboken, N.J., was being questioned by law enforcement in New Jersey and was extremely cooperative, said a second law enforcement official who was briefed on the investigation. Ryan Lanza is not believed to have any involvement and is not under arrest or in custody, but investigators were still searching his computers and phone records, said the second official.

Ryan Lanza told law enforcement that his brother was believed to suffer from a personality disorder and be ‘somewhat autistic’ and lived with the mother in Connecticut, the second official added.” Read more.

Flashback: Canadian Judge Rules SSRI Antidepressants Like Prozac Can Cause Children To Commit Murder – “The use of antidepressant and psychiatric drugs, particularly among children, is an extremely risky activity that could have fatal consequences for both the individuals that use them, as well as their friends and family. According to the National Post, a Canadian judge recently ruled that the extreme mind-altering effects of the antidepressant drug Prozac were in large part responsible for causing a 15-year-old boy to thrust a nine-inch kitchen knife into one of his closest friends.” Read more.

Might want to think about reading that article again. Too bad that your headline is all that you got from it.

Hi Robin, there is more to the article, yes. But the focus of this post was to highlight a possible SSRI connection, nothing more.

    See http://www.ssristories.com/

Here’s a video by Alex Jones discussing this very topic (I take a lot of things that Jones says with a grain of salt, but this 10 minute video has a lot of interesting info):

As one that has not only witnessed use of Psych Meds in family members but was also once, due to drug and alcohol addiction, led into this exchange of drugs…I have to say that I am against them.

When my nephew was said to need to be medicated due to his being overly hyper, or in other words…a normal red-blooded American boy, I advised my brother to stay away from their meds and simply enforce a little more discipline, which he did, and today he is one of the calmest people you would hope to meet. He did not need the drugs. I believe many today who have been prescribed Psych Meds are done a great injustice, because they trade one drug for another, and rather than dealing with the cause/s for the drug use in the first place, they are once again medicating the problem/s.

My mother was prescribed a drug for a “chemical imbalance” many years ago, and it is odd that the drug prescribed was not something that the body produces normally, begging the question “If there is an imbalance that implies something that should normally be there…isn’t” The drug eventually, after being taken for an extended time, turned toxic and nearly killed her.

As to whether taking these drugs could be responsible for such behavior as see in recent years, I think it more than just possible, though I would say that it is probably just part of the cause.

The failure of our Country to maintain a strong family unit has led to a change in our Country as a whole. I would not suggest that the American Family has always been perfect, but, the presence of a Father and a Mother in the life of a child as they grow up has, without question, an impact on how we grow up. Supervision and discipline, even if sometimes it is not perfect, is better than no supervision and discipline, in my opinion. A healthy marriage can influence the life of a child greatly, and the “drive-thru marriage” mentality has led to several generations of children who have grown up unable to have healthy relationships because they have had no pattern to follow.

And we are surprised when something like this happens?

So what are the suggestions for making sure this doesn’t happen again? Armed guards (which I support 100%)? Metal detectors? Does it escape everyone’s notice that once again…we are treating the symptoms?

How about Family Training? How about, instead of teaching our daughters that “If they get in trouble, don’t worry…your right to get an abortion wil be secure” we teach them the importance of the Family Unit? Teach our sons to respect their mothers…by example. Stop teaching them they deserve respect without earning respect?

This young man shot his mother. Why? What produced enough hatred that caused him to pull the trigger?

As I said, I was led to the exchange of drugs, my drugs of choice for what supposedly was missing from my brain. Fortunately for me, while on a trip those drugs ran out, and my head cleared from the fog, which though it sedated me, left me in a fog. Within a few days the fog lifted, I went home and went back to work, and to this day praise God that I did not fall into this system. For I believe it is a system, meant primarily to make money and control people.

Do I think drugs are the cause for this tragedy? Not by themselves, no, but I think we would be foolish to overlook what role they may have played, and even more foolish to overlook the role meds like these are playing in our country.

    God bless.
