Standoff: Egyptian Supreme Court Declares Morsi Parliament Decree Unconstitutional As Military Warns New President

By Gabe Kahn – “Egypt’s highest court said Monday that its rulings are binding for all state institutions after President Mohamed Morsi decided to convene the parliament.

The Supreme Constitutional Court of Egypt on June 14 invalidated the elections that led to the current Islamist-dominated parliament’s composition.

The Court, which convened for an emergency session on Monday, said that it could not simply reverse Morsi’s decree as head of state. However, it added it would consider appeals challenging the constitutionality of the presidential decision.

‘The rulings and judgments are final and cannot be appealed as provided by law,’ the justices wrote in a statement. ‘These decisions and their justifications are binding for all state authorities.’

‘The Court asserts, as it has done repeatedly, it does not take a side in any political confrontation,’ they added.

The Court had invalidated a full third of the seats in Egypt’s the lower house of parliament, the People’s Assembly, claiming the election law was unconstitutional.” Read more.

Egyptian Military Council Warns New Islamist President – “Egypt’s Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) has reminded the president-elect, Mohamed Mursi, of its own powerful position in the country. The military issued a statement saying it expects all state institutions to respect the constitution – a barely-disguised warning to the newly-elected Muslim Brotherhood member. The move followed a decision by Mursi to revoke the military council’s executive order which last month dissolved the Islamist-majority parliament. The dissolution had been backed by a June 14 Supreme Court ruling that said a third of the legislators were elected illegally.” Read more.

Muslim Brotherhood ‘Democracy’: Slapping, Stabbing, And Slaying For Sharia

By Raymond Ibrahim – “Prior to Egypt’s presidential elections, Islamists made clear that the electoral process was an obligatory form of ‘holy war.’ Then, any number of Islamic clerics, including influential ones, declared that it was mandatory for Muslims to cheat during elections—if so doing would help Islamist candidates win; that the elections were a form of jihad, and those who die are ‘martyrs’ who will attain the highest levels of paradise. Top Islamic institutions and influential clerics, such as Yusuf al-Qaradawi, issued fatwas decreeing that all Muslims were ‘obligated’ to go and vote for those candidates most likely to implement Sharia law, with threats of hellfire for those failing to do so.

The point was simple: democracy, elections, voting, even the individual candidates, were all means to an end—the establishment of Sharia law. Cheat, fight, and kill during elections, as long as doing so enables Sharia; vote only for whoever will enable Sharia; avoid hell by enabling Sharia. (It is precisely for this reason that the very first demand made by Islamic leaders is that President Morsi implement the totality of Sharia law in Egypt. That is, after all, why so many voted for him.)

That many Egyptian Muslims heeded these commands to lie, cheat, steal, and kill in order to empower Sharia, there is no doubt. Story after story appeared in the Egyptian media—much of it missed in the West—demonstrating as much.

Those dealing with brutal violence speak for themselves. For example, a Muslim man ‘beat his pregnant wife to death upon learning that she had not voted for the Muslim Brotherhood candidate Muhammad Morsi.’ According to police reports, ‘despite her pleas,’ the husband ‘battered and bruised” her after discovering she had voted for the secularist candidate, Ahmed Shafiq. She died later in the hospital ‘from injuries sustained.’

Likewise, a farmer was ‘stabbed’ by a ‘supporter of Morsi,’ simply for putting up a picture of the secular Shafiq on his motorcycle. Another 52-year-old man and ‘supporter of Morsi’ slapped his mother for voting for Shafiq. The man took his elderly mother to the voting booth, informing her that she must vote for Morsi; after she voted, he pressed her to confirm that she did in fact vote for the Islamist—only to be told that she did not. The man ‘lost his temper’ and slapped her in front of the other voters and electoral supervisors.

Finally, and in accord with the Muslim Brotherhood’s own directives, whole segments of Coptic Christians were prevented from voting. According to Al Ahram, Egypt’s national newspaper, in Upper Egypt, where millions of Copts live, ‘the Muslim Brotherhood blockaded entire streets, prevented Copts from voting at gunpoint, and threatened Christian families not to let their children go out and vote.'” Read more.

In the near future the world will witness terrible disasters, like earthquakes and tsunamis. Cities in Europe and the United States will disappear in the sea. The world’s financial system will collapse and God will destroy the Mammon (Yiddish slang for ‘money’). Anti-Semitism in the world will get worse, just like on the eve of World War II. For every inch of land that the government abandons the people of Israel will be punished for, because this is a rebellion against God. Solely because the two-state solution was discussed in Israel we must pay a high price. UK: ‘Dirty Bombs’ May Have Been Missed By Private Border Staff As Summer Games Approach

By Daniel Boffey, The Guardian – “Security guards working for Serco, the private contractor drafted in to protect Britain’s borders during the Olympics, have been at the centre of a series of security breaches that have allowed vehicles to enter the UK without screening for ‘dirty bombs’.

Concerns about queues and job cuts at the UK Border Agency forced the Home Office to bring in private guards to man radars designed to detect radiation at major ports. But Serco staff who took on the roles once occupied by public sector officials in mid-May have been at the centre of security scares.

It is understood that the border force is looking into the failure of a Serco guard to alert engineers when a security screening system went down at Dover ferry port, allowing vehicles to enter unchecked for radiation.

Serco staff have been repeatedly reported to managers for failing to correctly use equipment that checks for signs of radiation underneath cars and lorries. Border force officials admit that this is because staff had ‘been provided with training some time ago, they have become unfamiliar or not previously had hands-on experience’.

Some of the 300 Serco staff ‘left areas unmanned’ despite the heightened security threat facing the country weeks before the 2012 games. Serco staff have also missed alarms that are expected to prompt secondary searches of vehicles, the Observer understands, although it is understood that such “misses’ also happened before the private contractor, whose turnover last year exceeded £4 billion, became involved.

More than 320,000 foreign visitors are expected to visit Britain during the games, which begin in 19 days.” Read more.

NASA: Large Solar Flare Erupts From Sunspot AR1515

By Tariq Malik – “The most powerful solar flare of the summer so far erupted from the sun Friday (July 6), the latest in a string of powerful storms this week from our nearest star, space weather experts say.

The sun storm occurred just after 7 p.m. EDT (2300 GMT) and registered as a class X1.1 solar flare — one of the strongest types of solar flares possible, according to the U.S. Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) run by NOAA and the National Weather Service.

The huge solar flare erupted from the giant sunspot AR1515, which has already fired off several other powerful storms this week. Space weather scientists were closely watching the sunspot for possible X-class flares.

‘And AR1515 did it! X1-class solar flare,’ officials with NASA’s sun-watching Solar Dynamics Observatory wrote in a post to @Camilla_SDO, the mission’s mascot Twitter account.

By all accounts, the sunspot group AR1515 is enormous. It stretches across 118,681 miles (191,000 kilometers) of the sun’s surface, making it longer than 15 Earths set end to end, NASA solar astrophysicist C. Alex Young told SPACE.com today before the new flare.

While today’s solar flare marked the strongest of the summer season, which began in late June, it is not the strongest of 2012. In March, the sun fired off an intense X5.4-class solar flare. Today’s sun storm marked the fifth X-class solar flare of the year…

Earlier today, space weather officials warned of more potential flare-ups from sunspot AR1515. The sun has been undergoing substantial activity this entire week from several sunspots on its Earth-facing side.” Read more.

He asked her three times: ‘Are you a Christian?’

Julie Aftab answered, ‘Yes, sir,’ the first two times, and then got frustrated.

‘Didn’t you hear me?’ she asked.

They argued, and the man abruptly left the little office, returning 30 or 40 minutes later with a turquoise bottle. Aftab tried to block the arc of battery acid, but it melted much of the right side of her face and left her with swirling, bone-deep burns on her chest and arms. She ran for the door, but a second man grabbed her hair, and they poured the acid down her throat, searing her esophagus.

A decade and 31 surgeries later, Aftab is an accounting major at the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a melodic laugh. She spoke no English when she arrived in Houston in February 2004, but is poised to take her citizenship test later this month.

Doctors in Houston have donated their time to painstakingly reconstruct her cheek, nose, upper lip and replace her eyelids. Over time, her scars have faded from hues of deep wine to mocha.

And, with time, the 26-year-old said, she has learned to forgive.

‘Those people, they think they did a bad thing to me, but they brought me closer to God,’ Aftab said. ‘They helped me fulfill my dreams. I never imagined I could be the person I am today.'” Read more.

Jihadists Using Switzerland As Base To Promote Islamic Extremism In Europe And Beyond

By Soeren Kern, Gatestone Institute – “Radical Muslim groups are using Switzerland as a base from which to promote Islamic jihad in Europe and beyond.

Islamists in Switzerland are providing jihadists with logistical support, and also stepping up their use of Internet websites there to spread Islamic propaganda as well as to incite their supporters to commit acts of terrorism and violence.

Swiss authorities have identified at least 10 trips by Islamists from Switzerland to jihadi training camps overseas just during the past 12 months.

One finding of Swiss Federal Police Annual Report for 2011 (in German), published in Bern on June 21, is that although Switzerland was not a direct target of Islamic terrorism in 2011, the Swiss Federal Police Office, also known Fedpol, did investigate a Swiss convert to Islam who used the Internet to discuss a terrorist attack involving explosives against an American installation in Germany. Although the report does not provide further details about the investigation, it states that the suspect’s being Swiss proved that ‘not only people with immigrant backgrounds could be supporters of jihad.’

In response to the rising threat from radical Islam, Fedpol, recently launched a new specialist IT research department to intensify efforts to monitor jihadist websites and their operators. Fedpol also strengthened its cooperation with the Swiss Federal Intelligence Services…

Separately, leading Islamic groups in Switzerland say they want to establish a single national representative body that will enable all of the country’s Muslims to ‘speak with one voice.'” Read more.
