Bird Flu, Pig Flu, Now Bat Flu Could Pose Threat to Humans, Mingle with Common Forms of Influenza to Become Something More Dangerous

AP – “For the first time, scientists have found evidence of flu in bats, reporting a never-before-seen virus whose risk to humans is unclear.

The surprising discovery of genetic fragments of a flu virus is the first well-documented report of it in the winged mammals. So far, scientists haven’t been able to grow it, and it’s not clear if – or how well – it spreads.

Flu bugs are common in humans, birds and pigs and have even been seen in dogs, horses, seals and whales, among others. About five years ago, Russian virologists claimed finding flu in bats, but they never offered evidence.

‘Most people are fairly convinced we had already discovered flu in all the possible’ animals, said Ruben Donis, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention scientist who co-authored the new study.

Scientists suspect that some bats caught flu centuries ago and that the virus mutated within the bat population into this new variety. Scientists haven’t even been able to grow the new virus in chicken eggs or in human cell culture, as they do with more conventional flu strains.

But it still could pose a threat to humans. For example, if it mingled with more common forms of influenza, it could swap genes and mutate into something more dangerous, a scenario at the heart of the global flu epidemic movie ‘Contagion.’

The research was posted online Monday in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.” Read more.

Prediction: Early in the Millennium, within the first few years at most, it will be discovered/revealed how to neutralize/kill all these malevolent micro-organisms, greatly lengthening lifespans of natural humans…

For as the lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people, And My chosen ones will wear out the work of their hands. Isa 65:22

Perhaps it will even involve some tree DNA!

Others wooden agree since we might be going against the grain, but if science branches out and gets to the root of the problem, knowledge like that wood be poplar in no time. Limber children would stay healthy, no more rings under the eyes, never get sycamore, and since they’d never be sapped fir energy they wooden get board as quickly. Oakay maybe knot.

I’d like to imagine a world no longer tilted on its axis, with a higher atmospheric air pressure, greatly increased oxygen levels, no more processed foods or pesticides. Living in a “hyperbaric” earth would do wonders. At least that’s what I beleaves.

Uh huh… have you been sprinkling too much bran on your bran flakes? With all that extra fiber, just think how regular people will be, you know, regular.

Not me, however. I am going to have a resurrection body per 1 Cor 15!

Aye, but even the resurrected body will need oxygen to breathe and food to eat (or at least have the ability). The DNA that makes us today will be the same DNA that makes our resurrected body. Only it’ll be absolutely perfect.

Very good point, Willard! The way I see it, Rev 21:1-9 comes sequential AFTER Rev 21:10-22:9 in which the New Jerusalem is presented, which is during the Millennium. So there will be much need for healing. This is the time period of “the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” (Rev 22:2)

The beginning of Rev 21 speaks of the new heavens and earth, which will follow the Millennium.

TREES seem to be very important in God’s economy, and ecology.

Neutralizing malevolent micro-organisms isn’t the major obstacle to extending life. It’s being able to circumvent the fixed rate of cell division the body goes through over the course of one’s life. At present human beings have an upper limit of 120 years do to the fact the human cells can only divide so many times before they can’t anymore. There certainly was something pre-flood that was different (change in the firmament), and some have speculated that increased exposure to solar radiation made the difference. But that window is shut.

Genetic alteration of DNA is almost certainly on the horizon to deal with the cell division problem, in addition to virus adaptation.

As far as our resurrected bodies are concern. The bible says we will put off the corruptible and put on the incorruptible. I don’t see God limited to DNA at all. The DNA code in my mind, is surreptitiously linked to the corruptible man. In fact, if you follow string theory, the concept that we currently abide in a shallow existence of what will ultimately be is evident, at the very least, from a mathematical point of view. You cannot suppose that God will be limited to what we see in this existence, as the form of the next.

The incorruptible does not mean merely spiritual, but it certainly does not mean merely corporeal. It is unobtainable knowledge at present.

    Willard,

Could trees be more than trees, particularly in symbolic book of Revelation:

    Psalm 1:1-3,
“How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither
    ;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.”

Isaiah 61:3, “To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”

Mark 8:24, “And he looked up and said, “I see men, for I see them like trees, walking around.”

    Nicklesaver,

The passage ICA was referring to, 1 Cor 15:35-44:

35 But someone will say, “How are the dead raised? And with what kind of body do they come?” 36 You fool! That which you sow does not come to life unless it dies; 37 and that which you sow, you do not sow the body which is to be, but a bare grain, perhaps of wheat or of something else. 38 But God gives it a body just as He wished, and to each of the seeds a body of its own. 39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, and another of fish. 40 There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is one, and the glory of the earthly is another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.

42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; 43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

I think there is definitely something to what ICA is saying – there is a relationship between our present bodies and DNA and our future ones. I don’t think we can say string theory precludes this; it may even make it more possible or likely – i.e., we will exist in 10 or 11 dimensions, or however many there are…

    Blessings,
    Kurt

I know exactly what ICA was trying to say. I believe it is a mistake to impute anything we see as evident within the corruptible man onto the incorruptible man. And why worry about it.

The nature of the incorruptible man is unknowable.

I didn’t mean to suggest there was only one; I was just responding to the topic of this article. You are certainly correct. But I see this as related to natural humans in the Millennium, not the resurrected.

Kurt – The passage ICA was referring to, 1 Cor 15:35-44

I think that the answer to much of this is in the above bible reference especially the below.

38 But God gives it a body just as He wished, and to each of the seeds a body of its own. 39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, and another of fish.

One of my best friends right now is going through a serious cancer with Leukemia – I think there is an example in that with this topic. He had white blood cells from his brother a perfect match according to the doctors but his body rejected them to no avail. He is now having a second round this time from a sister but things again do not look like they will work out.

What I think this picture is maybe telling us now that it has been brought up is that our bodies are not or were not designed to take in other animal DNA and stay healthy. JUST THOUGHTS THOUGH.

The body maybe rejects the flesh of not only other men but the meat in the foods we eat causing us health issues and early death, the flesh of the beasts, so to speak. Before the fall man pretty much was a vegetarian I would understand and because of sin began eating the flesh of beasts. Diet high in red meats is know to cause problems as also are dairy products. And I love them all.

I am not suggesting that this is wrong or a sin by any means I am only saying that this was not the way God intended it to be from the beginning. But he relented because of our sin and our own desires. ???

He provided the trees with plenty of the right fruit for them to eat so meat was off the table so to speak until after they killed their first animal for skin coverings.

Ge 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?
Ge 3:2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,
Ge 3:3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die

Even in the burnt sacrifices the fat was not to be eaten (the best part of steak and ham) Sea animals that lived on the sea bottom the scavengers were not to be eaten, all of the blood was to be drained from an animal (Kosher) animals that had a split hoof but never chewed the cud were not to be eaten, pork was not to be eaten.

Judges 9 also speaks about the trees but not sure it relates here. Trees are certainly one of the best sources for food, from fruits to maple syrup, to berries, to roots, and even bark as spices like cinnamon and currie leaves, tea leaves, and oils to no end, from olives to dates, and on and on the list could go. Not only for food sources but also medicines, and healing properties. Willow being at the top of the list.

Also when the firmament collapsed it allowed in muck large quantities of UV rays affecting our DNA and the aging process. We are told that the world will be destroyed by fire this time and recreated in some form I would say. So we will have a new creation we are told whatever that all entails.

    A very interesting topic.

Nickelsaver, “I believe it is a mistake to impute anything we see as evident within the corruptible man onto the incorruptible man. And why worry about it.”

No need to worry about it I agree, but I disagree that it is a mistake to impute anything concerning our current body onto the resurrected body. That statement implies that our resurrected body will have nothing to do with our existing body. But nowhere does Scripture teach that. Instead, our current body will be our resurrected body, but it will be completely transformed from corruptible to incorruptible. It’s going to receive a very significant “upgrade”:

1 Cor 15:52, “… the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed …”

What does this verse speak of if not our current bodies? It explicitly implies that our current bodies are raised, but not as they were before. It will consist of our existing DNA, but it will not be subject to the current effects of the Fall. Today, after we reach a certain age the rate of breakdown exceeds the rate of buildup, which causes us to age and eventually die. But our resurrected bodies will flourish to absolute perfection the way that God intended. Our DNA will be absolutely perfect, free from error, from deformity, from corrupted genes that today can cause someone to be more prone to certain types of diseases or cancers. Not only will we no longer be subject to disease, sickness and eventual death, I believe that those who are resurrected and we who are alive and remain will appear “mature”, yet the cellular structure of our skin will never break down. We will never appear to age.

One teacher writes, “One day, when Christ returns, the very body of my father that I watched being lowered into the ground, will be raised from its grave. It was sown a perishable body, it will be raised imperishable; it was sown in dishonor, it will be raised in glory; it was sown in weakness, it will be raised in power; it was sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body (1 Cor. 15:42-44). On that day, Dad’s body will no longer be dominated by natural proclivities; instead, he will have a supernatural, spiritual body dominated by the Holy Spirit and set free from slavery to sin — ‘an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands’ (2 Cor. 5:1). Apart from that hope, there is no hope. ‘If the dead are not raised,’ says Paul, ‘let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die’ (1 Cor. 15:32).” (Link).
