The Earth Groans: Strange, Unexplained Sounds in Conklin, Alberta 01/12/2012

Here’s another one to file under the weird and wacky reports of strange and unexplained “earth sounds”. The first video appears to have taken place just this past week in Conklin, Alberta Canada.  The second video is an August 2011 compilation of odd sounds that have been recorded around the globe prior to August of last year.

Update: Added third video purporting to contain recordings made during the first two weeks of January 2012 (unconfirmed) …

Do you think that the following may fit ??

Jer 25:30 “Now prophesy all these words against them and say to them: “ ‘The LORD will roar from on high; he will thunder from his holy dwelling and roar mightily against his land. He will shout like those who tread the grapes, shout against all who live on the earth.
Jer 25:31 The tumult will resound to the ends of the earth, for the LORD will bring charges against the nations; he will bring judgment on all mankind and put the wicked to the sword, ” declares the LORD.
Jer 25:32 This is what the LORD Almighty says: “Look! Disaster is spreading from nation to nation; a mighty storm is rising from the ends of the earth.”

Jer 25:33 At that time those slain by the LORD will be everywhere—from one end of the earth to the other. They will not be mourned or gathered y up or buried, but will be like refuse lying on the ground

I’d have to say no. I think that when the Lord roars there will be no question about what it was. His voice will be unmistakable.

    It’s this:

For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.

That, or its the “Canadian Crop Circle”, CCC for short. Next time you’re out standing in the forest after a freshly fallen snow and your buddy hears a creepy sound and says “What’s that, eh?”, you tell him its just another case of the CCCs.

Yes I know these weird sounds have shown up in other parts of the world, but I heard about it first from Canadians–it started there. Its like crop circles started in England, but before long they started showing up in Nebraska. Its a cultural phenomenon.

Personal eyewitness (or ear-witness?) account here:

Last week, my Jack Russell decided she absolutely had to get out and do some business at 2:00 a.m. So, I’m standing on my deck in the freezing cold waiting for her when I hear the most horrific sound I have ever heard. It was kind of like the sound in the first video, but more sustained and louder – like a howl that turned into a scream from no animal I’ve ever heard of. It sounded like it came from the direction of the river that is near to my house. I live pretty deep in the redwoods in northern California. I’m almost ready to believe the Bigfoot stories. Really creepy.

Just curious AHF being from Northern Ca are you near any seismic activity ??

ICA – No kidding. I would love to have evidence of that sound.

Willard – That would be a big yes. I’m a lifelong Californian. Grew up in the south and moved north in 1988. I’ve been through more earthquakes than I can count. I literally don’t even flinch unless they get above a 6.0 these days. This is definitely a very seismically active area. Just look up the Cascadian subduction zone if you want to read the plot for a good disaster movie. The worst I have ever been through were the 1992 Cape Mendocino quakes, centered just west of us. We had a 7.2, 6.5 and 6.7 all within a 24 hour period. Hardened Californian that I am, I was praying out loud by the time the third one hit.

AHF, east of you, in Chico. Or maybe not (got to keep the blogosphere guessing). Haven’t felt an earthquake since moving back to CA in 2002. Never felt one growing up in Chico in the 70’s and 80’s (or maybe NOT Chico…) I do have faint memories of one in Hemet, where I might have been born.

Never heard or seen Bigfoot, although in the 1970’s I cut a “big” foot out of plywood (about 18″ long) and took it with me to YMCA camp to try and play tricks. Didn’t work too well.

I can’t help but to think that some of these are going to be faked. The one below that allegedly took place in Manitoba recently sounds an awful lot like the one played in the news item above said to be from Kiev (caution: language):

With some others, it’s difficult to tell if it’s hoaxed, or what the noise is. Here are some direct links to a few recent Youtube videos that are said to be:

    From Washington DC:

    From Pennsylvania:

    From Costa Rica:

    From France:

    From Czech Republic:

    01/29/2012 at 5:20 PM

ok iv just picked up on these stories, iv listened to 9 videos all from across the uk and each the same ” mechanical” noise – now if this was our earth making this noise, eg plates moving, wudnt we feel something too like an erthquake?

call me naive but that doesnt sound like anything natural, im a city lad from the UK and not heard anything yet but anyone with a sensible answer please feel free to reply to me

It seems to me that there were a couple of legitimate instances of strange noises recorded, but lately a lot of the alleged videos I’ve been seeing crop up on Youtube are highly dubious. I’d have to say at this point that this is largely an internet-based phenomena hyped by individuals or websites that have an affinity for the paranormal instead of something more grounded in reality.
