Why Iran’s Top Leaders Believe That the End of Days Has Come

By Joel C. Rosenberg – “Why would Iran authorize a major terrorist operation on American soil? Skeptics say the much-discussed ‘foiled’ Iranian plot makes no sense. We will know soon enough if the Feds have sufficient evidence related to this specific plot. But Iranian leaders may, in fact, have a motive to accelerate direct attacks on the U.S.: Shia Islamic eschatology, or ‘End Times’ theology.

Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are convinced that the End of Days has come. They believe the Shia messiah known as the ‘Twelfth Imam’ or the ‘Mahdi’ will appear soon to establish a global Islamic kingdom known as the caliphate.

What’s more, they believe the way to hasten the coming of the Twelfth Imam is to annihilate Israel (which they call the ‘Little Satan’), and the United States (which they call the ‘Great Satan’). We should not, therefore, be surprised that Iran is probing for weaknesses in American intelligence and homeland security.

Khamenei told Iranians in July 2010 that he personally met with the Twelfth Imam. He also claimed to be the personal representative of the Mahdi on earth, and said all Muslims must ‘obey him.’ Meanwhile, Western intelligence agencies say he continues to work with Ahmadinejad and the Iranian military to develop nuclear warheads and the ballistic missiles to deliver them.

Much of the media has focused on Iran’s threats to wipe Israel ‘off the map.’ But journalists have generally ignored the fact that the Iranian regime is equally determined to destroy the United States.

On October 26, 2005, for example, Ahmadinejad said, ‘God willing, with the force of God behind it, we shall soon experience a world without the United States and Zionism.’

On June 2, 2008, Ahmadinejad said, ‘Today, the time for the fall of the satanic power of the United States has come, and the countdown to the annihilation of the emperor of power and wealth has started.’

Iran’s leaders actually believe that the destruction of the U.S. is foreordained, just as the Soviet Union’s implosion was predetermined. They see U.S. economic weakness as a sign that the end of America is near.” Read more.

“OKLAHOMA CITY – A 4.7 magnitude earthquake shook Oklahoma again at 8:46 p.m. Monday. This is the third large earthquake that rattled the Sooner State in just three days.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter of Monday evening’s earthquake was five miles northwest of Prague, six miles southeast of Sparks, nine miles east, northeast of Meeker, and 44 miles east of Oklahoma City.

The earthquake was only three miles deep.

“MUZAFFARNAGAR: Darul Uloom Deoband has advised Muslims against celebrating birthdays, contending in a fatwa that Islam does not permit such a practice which is a ‘tradition of western countries’.

Responding to a query of an AMU student, Darul Uloom said that Islam does not permit such celebrations as they are against the Sharia law.

The query was made in reference to the birthday celebration of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, the founder of the Aligarh Muslim University.

‘Muslims should not follow the tradition of western culture of celebrating birthdays as it against the Shariat law,’ vice-chancellor of Darul Uloom Deoband, Maulana Abul Kasim Naumani said on Sunday. “French President Nicolas Sarkozy reportedly told US President Barack Obama that he could not ‘stand’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and that he thinks the Israeli premier ‘is a liar.’

According to a Monday report in the French website ‘Arret sur Images,’ after facing reporters for a G20 press conference on Thursday, the two presidents retired to a private room, to further discuss the matters of the day.

The conversation apparently began with President Obama criticizing Sarkozy for not having warned him that France would be voting in favor of the Palestinian membership bid in UNESCO despite Washington’s strong objection to the move.

The conversation then drifted to Netanyahu, at which time Sarkozy declared: ‘I cannot stand him. He is a liar.’ According to the report, Obama replied: ‘You’re fed up with him, but I have to deal with him every day!’

The remark was naturally meant to be said in confidence, but the two leaders’ microphones were accidently left on, making the would-be private comment embarrassingly public.

The communication faux pas went unnoticed for several minutes, during which the conversation between the two heads of state – which quickly reverted to other matters – was all but open to members the press, who were still in possession of headsets provided by the Elysée for the sake of simultaneous translation during the G20 press conference.

‘By the time the (media) services at the Elysée realize it, it was on for at least three minutes,’ one journalist told the website. Still, he said that reporters ‘did not have a chance to take advantage of this fluke.'” Read more.

Iran to Christian Pastor: Convert to Islam or Die

First he was charged with apostasy and threatened with death for turning his back on Islam and converting to Christianity.  Then the Iranian government changed its mind and said he was guilty of rape, not apostasy.  Then Iran’s Supreme Court ordered a retrial. Now Iran’s kangaroo court is again telling him to convert to Islam, or die.  Either way, the specter of death is an ever present reminder to Middle East Christians of the time in which we are now living …

“Iran’s government and security apparatus have ratcheted up the pressure on Evangelical pastor Youcef Nadarkhani to convert to Islam or face execution, Fox News reported on Saturday.

Youcef Nadarkhani, now 34, was arrested in 2009 for questioning the compulsory Islamic education of his children and for seeking to register a home-based church. He was sentenced to death in 2010.

Iran’s security officials recently delivered a book on Islam to Nadarkhani, Fox News said. He is in prison Rasht on the Caspian Sea coast.

The Iranian officials told ‘him they would be back to discuss the material and hear his opinion,’ according to the report.

Fox cited ‘sources close to the case.’

David Parsons, spokesman for the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, told The Jerusalem Post on Sunday the new development is ‘very troubling.’

There need to be ‘three attempts to make him convert to Islam before they can kill him,’ Parsons said. He cited Shari’a Islamic law as the basis for the threeattempts rule.

Iran ‘is going through the motions’ and ‘trying to do it in a very public way for the Muslim world and maybe, in their mind, thinking they can placate the West. It is outrageous,’ said Parsons, who is a contributing editor to The Jerusalem Post Christian Edition.

The case ‘should be an eye-opener for world leaders,’ he said. ‘They should know what Islam teaches in terms of ‘inferior religions’ like Judaism and Christianity.'” Read more.

NASA Captures Huge X-Class Solar Flare and Coronal Mass Ejection on the Same Day

“An enormous solar flare that erupted from the sun on Thursday has been classed an X1.9 flare – making it one of the largest storms our star can produce.

The solar flare came from a giant sunspot that was sighted earlier this week, itself one of the largest seen in years.

Experts at Nasa knew to expect big things from the sunspot, but the sheer magnitude of the flare left them in awe.

The flare was so powerful that it disrupted communications systems on earth around 45 minutes later.

The event began at 8.27pm GMT, and Nasa officials said in a statement that it ‘triggered some disruption to radio communications on Earth’.

Nasa added: ‘Scientists are continuing to watch this active region as it could well produce additional solar activity as it passes across the front of the sun.’

Later on the same day, a coronal mass ejection (CME) was observed blasting from the sun in the direction of Venus.” Read more.
