Egypt: Protesters Storm Israeli Embassy in Cairo and Destroy Israeli Flag as Egyptian Police Stand Aside and Do Nothing

“Egyptian protesters on Friday night broke into the Israeli embassy in Cairo and succeeded in removing the flag from atop the high-rise after they destroyed a protective wall surrounding the building. An Israeli official in Jerusalem said that while activists had broken into the entered of the building, the mission itself had not been breached.

No Israelis were injured as Egyptian activists demolished the wall around the Israeli embassy in Cairo during angry protests. Some activists who had entered appeared to be throwing documents from windows in the building, which the Jerusalem official explained as pamphlets and papers at the embassy’s foyer, and not from inside.

Israeli embassy workers were not located in the building while the protests were taking place.

After Friday prayers, thousands had converged on Tahrir Square, the epicenter of the protests that toppled former President Hosni Mubarak, for what was billed as “Correcting the Path” protests.

Some of the demonstrators later marched to the other side of the Nile in Giza, where they used hammers and large metal rods to destroy the wall, erected this month by Egyptian authorities after daily protests over the killing of five Egyptian border guards in Sinai.

‘This action shows the state of anger and frustration the young Egyptian revolutionaries feel against Israel especially after the recent attacks on the Egyptian borders that led to the killing of Egyptian soldiers,’ Egyptian political analyst Nabil Abdel Fattah told Reuters.

Egyptian police stood aside as activists tore down the concrete wall to the cheers of hundreds of demonstrators.” Read more.

I thought what Egypt wanted as a result of removing Mubarak was a free and democratic society. Do they not understand that in a democracy that all peoples and religions must be tolerated?? This is a basic understanding in a democracy–all people and religions are treated with dignity and respect.

Well, I guess we’re seeing what a ‘free and democratic’ society in Egypt looks like now. The people of Egypt are now free to openly express their desire to see Egypt ruled by Sharia Law. They are now free to express their hatred of Israel and Jews. They are now free to express their unquenchable desire to see an end to the 1979 peace treaty with their Jewish neighbors. They are now free to blow up Christian churches without the ‘fear of Mubarak’. They are free to oppress women now more than ever. And the Muslim Brotherhood — from which Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri began as activists — is now free to run for the Egyptian presidency. Ahhh, Braveheart would be proud …

    You call THAT freedom?!?!

Under their new “democracy” I doubt we will see anything like the U.S. Constitution’s first amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

My thoughts on this which may or may not be relevent or correct but they seem to be interesting none the less – I would be interested to hear comments on these thoughts

Democracy was as we know a Greek invention – it is this so called democracy which points to ancient Greece still being relevent today and in exsitance prophecticaly wise at least – it is this so called ancient Greek democracy that the Arab spring claims they are fighting for that will allow in Sharia Laws

Isaiah 66 speaks about these last days and mentions Greece as does Zech 9:9 to 13 commenting on the coming of Zions King – v 13 tells us that it will be the sons of Greece against the sons of Zion at the end – I think that this MAY be pointing to the nations using the form of government call Democratic or Democracy –

Next to Babylon and Persia Greece also is likely the largest focal point of the book of Daniel the North and South that Daniel speaks about were the Greek generals of that day – Turkey still has many Greek names and its culture is associated connected with historic Greece as are the early churches

Bankrupt Greece is playing a role in todays world first through democracy, the ME territory of Alexander and his four generals especially Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon etc secondly by being the nation that may bring the entire world down finacially through it going bankrupt and being the first domino to fall,

Greece is also associated historicaly with homosexuality and these types of relationships which as we know is an issue today – the Greek way of doing things may soon come to an end – it was a Greek Antiochus IV who desicrated the temple in 167 or 168 BC – Turkey is talking about taking over Cyprus again the old Turkish / Greek battles like from ancient history may once again be in our future

The known world of Christs day was also Greek, the NT was written in Greek, even today the Greek influence is remarkable – just go back 3 years to Obamas inaguration and the Greek pillars and all the decancy that came with it

I think the Zech 9 prophecy could be explained in two ways–one is mentioned by you above–that the Greek phase of the Daniel prophecies and the invasion by the Greeks was still future to Zech (this is probably the best explanation), the second is that Turkey was once largely Greek, and it will be Turkey that joins with/leads the “king of the north” coalition against Israel in the final end times.

Sorry ICA – this some how got posted in the wrong spot Ps 91:1

I think that you are right Kurt the Seleucids or “Sons of Greece” makes a lot of sense and their offspring and DNA can certainly still seen in Lebanon, Turkey and Syria – It appears to strengthen the argument for keeping our eyes on Turkey – especially with what is and has been happening over the last few months and coming out of the mouth of Erdogan – I have always sort of connected the sons of Greece with us guyies in the western world and democracy
