US: Doctors Say 35% Spike in Infant Mortality in Northwest Cities Since Meltdown May Be the Result of Fukushima Fallout
“As I’ve previously noted, infants are much more vulnerable to radiation than adults. And see this.
However, radiation safety standards are set based on the assumption that everyone exposed is a healthy man in his 20s.
Now, a physician (Janette D. Sherman, M. D.) and epidemiologist (Joseph Mangano) have penned a short but horrifying essay asking whether a spike in infant deaths in the Northwest are due to Fukushima” Read more.

Japan: Major Newspaper Questions TEPCO’s Ability to Overcome the Mountain of Problems Still Remaining at Fukushima
“One cannot help but wonder how far efforts being made by the national government and Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) to bring the Fukushima No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant under control have progressed.
Two months have passed since TEPCO first unveiled a roadmap for bringing the crippled plant under control, but various problems that have occurred since then show the roadmap was overly optimistic.
Uncertainty over the current state of the power plant and when it could be brought under control continues to disrupt the lives of locals. Many people probably wonder whether the wisdom and power of Japan and the rest of the world are effectively being brought together and applied in the ongoing efforts at the plant.” Read more.
Elevated radiation levels widespread in eastern Japan – “Unsafe levels of radioactive contamination have been reported from multiple sources throughout vast areas of eastern Japan in locations far away from the Fukushima nuclear power plant. Science Magazine cites data from the prefectural government of Iwate revealing radioactive cesium has traveled over 100 miles away from Fukushima. Pastoral grasses are contaminated beyond safety standards.” Read more.
Kansas: Spring Hail Storm Damages Wheat Fields
By Alicia Myers – “Spring storms are wreaking havoc on farmers’ fields in Sedgwick county. Wheat fields received the majority of damage during a recent hail storm.
For farmers, the damage has hurt their crops, and their pocketbooks.
Mick Rausch is no stranger to Spring storms, especially those that strike right in the middle of wheat harvest.
‘I can remember doing wheat harvest when I was 8, 9, 10 years old,’ said Rausch.
Since a young age, Rausch has always hoped for a good crop.
‘Farmers are eternal optimists,’ said Rausch.
Until the June 9th hail storm hit, Rausch had been fairly lucky.
‘You’ve got a whole years worth of income potential out there. The thought of losing a whole year’s work in a 5 minute storm, it can lead to some sleepless nights,’ said Rausch.
This storm, however, lasted for just under an hour.” Read more.
Nigerian Islamists Vow ‘Fiercer’ Attacks Until Strict Sharia is Law of the Land
“KANO, Nigeria — A Nigerian Islamist sect that staged a series of deadly attacks mainly in the country’s north on Wednesday threatened ‘fiercer’ attacks and said it would not enter into talks with the government.
The Boko Haram group, which had two days ago laid down conditions for any talks with government, also disclosed for the first time that it had links with Islamists in Somalia.
‘Dialogue with President (Goodluck) Jonathan has collapsed,’ because of the statements made by the inspector general of police and governor of northern Borno state, the group said.
It said it was angered by the police chief Hafiz Ringim’s declaration that ‘the days of Boko Haram are numbered’.
‘Very soon, we will wage jihad…We want to make it known that our jihadists have arrived in Nigeria from Somalia where they received real training on warfare from our brethren who made that country ungovernable…,’ said the group in a handwritten statement.” Read more.
Despite Growing Concern, Democrats Ignore Islamic Radical Threats
By Elisabeth Meinecke – “At a House hearing on Muslim-American radicalization in prisons Wednesday, several Democrat members were anxious to focus on anything but the topic at hand, instead bringing up threats in prisons posed by ‘right-wing’ radicals, gun possession, and gang members.
‘The violent right-wing ideology of many of these gangs must be discussed,’ said ranking member Rep. Bennie Thompson when stating his case why the committee should be focusing on ‘extremists of all stripes.’
He also tried to shift the spotlight to gun shows.
‘Earlier this month, Adam Gadahan, an American-born spokesman for al Qaeda, released a video calling on Muslims to commit acts of violence against America by taking advantage of the gun show loophole,’ Thompson said.
Democrat Rep. Laura Richardson of California called holding such hearings as this one ‘discriminatory’ for focusing on a particular religious group and tried to make the argument that gangs are radicalized in prison.
The comments by congressional members eventually prompted a response from California Rep. Dan Lungren.
‘The political correctness in this room is astounding,’ said Lungren, the former attorney general of California.” Read more.

Sudan: Islamic Military and Militias Attack, Loot Churches and Kill Christians
“KHARTOUM, Sudan, June 17 (CDN) — Military intelligence agents killed one Christian, and Islamic militants sympathetic to the government slaughtered another last week after attacking churches in Sudan’s embattled South Kordofan state.
Christian sources said a Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) Intelligence unit detained Nimeri Philip Kalo, a student at St. Paul Major Seminary, on June 8 near the gate of the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) in Kadugli’s al Shaeer area and shot him in front of bystanders. Kalo and other Christians were fleeing the town after Muslim militias loyal to the SAF attacked and looted at least three church buildings in Kadugli, they said.
UNMIS’s mandate is to support the Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the Government of Sudan and the country’s Christian and animist south, scheduled to secede on July 9, by helping in the disarmament process, among other means. Armed conflict in Kadugli broke out between southern and northern militaries on June 6 after northern forces seized Abyei last month.
SAF military intelligence agents accused Kalo of being a Christian and suspected he was therefore opposed to the Islamic government, the sources said.” Read more.
