Update: Falling Away From The Faith – Church in Utah Gives Away Free Copies of Qur’an, Calls it ‘Truth’

1 Timothy 4:1-2, “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron …”

Update: The pastor of the Wasatch Presbyterian Church responds to my assertion that their action is an example of ‘departing from the faith’.  See comments …

By Kristen Moulton – “Leaders of a Presbyterian congregation in Salt Lake City have an answer to the Florida pastor with a penchant for burning the Quran.

Wasatch Presbyterian Church is giving Islam’s holy book away for free.

‘Sometimes, it’s hard to know how to push back against the lunatic fringe,’ said Russell Fericks, a member of the session, or governing board, of the 350-member church on the city’s east side.

So when the new pastor, the Rev. Scott Dalgarno, asked the board last week to join him in opening their wallets, the reaction was swift.

The leaders put up $600 before the meeting was over and ordered dozens of copies of an Oxford Press edition of the Quran several days ago. The books will be available as early as Monday at King’s English Bookshop, each with a bookmark bearing these words: ‘This book was donated by the leaders of Wasatch Presbyterian Church, who are not afraid of truth wherever it can be found.'”  Read more.

Falling Away from the Faith: Over 50 US Churches to Hold Qur’an Readings – “Now we go from a church buying and donating dozens of Qur’ans to a bookstore, to churches now holding Qur’an readings? This is idolatry. This is spiritual fornication. This is wrong on many levels. If your church is among those holding these readings I encourage you to protest and demand that it be cancelled, and if they refuse, find another church to attend.” Read more.

I am the pastor of Wasatch Presbyterian in Salt Lake. Fall away from the faith? Not on your life. It’s because our faith is so firm that we aren’t afraid to fund this project. As Presbyterian Christians we believe that people should educate themselves on spiritual matters so that our consciences can be well informed. Terry Jones followed his conscience, and his act led to many innocent people being killed. We hope our action saves lives, and the mail I;ve gotten from service personnel and civilians in Afghanistan supporting our troops tells me we are doing just that. They are very eager to have something to report to moderate Muslims about American tolerance. So our idea is simply to enable people in our town to read the Qur’an and decide for themselves whether it’s message is first to incite people to violence. If the people in Salt Lake read the free book and decide it’s bad, so be it. If they read it and decide it’s got many different messages, so be it. We just don’t like people burning books. Hitler burned books and soon began burning people.

So it’s mostly about education for us. Had someone burned a copy of the Book of Mormon we would probably have bought copies of that too. We take the Bible very seriously. It’s our prime guide for life. But wisdom can be found in many books. We are not afraid of finding some of it anywhere. It doesn’t make the truth we find in our scriptures any less critical to our living.

Mr. Dalgarno, what percentage of the Qur’an do you believe is Truth?

And if you don’t mind, how much of the Haddith/Sunnah is truth, since Muslims hold the sayings of Mohammad, the sole arbiter & interpreter of Allah, as authoritative?

    ICA :
Mr. Dalgarno, what percentage of the Qur’an do you believe is Truth?

Well, as you can see from my remark about the Book of Mormon, whether there is truth in the Qur’an is entirely beside the point. A judgment on that came from Terry Jones and it got innocent aid workers killed. In the wake of his disaster we are trying to support our troops, not endanger them.

    Warning Against Antichrists
    Scott Dalgarno

How can you possibly reconcile what Christ done for you and for ALL MANKIND on the cross by splilling his blood for the religion of the antichrist – a religion that denies God even has a Son – truely IT IS as Christ warned us that in THE LAST DAYS THERE WOULD BE FALSE TEACHES IN THE CHURCH

1Jn 2:18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. 1Jn 2:19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us. 1Jn 2:20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.1Jn 2:21 I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth. 1Jn 2:22 Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist—he denies the Father and the Son.1Jn 2:23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.1Jn 2:24 See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. 1Jn 2:25 And this is what he promised us—even eternal life.

2Pe 2:1 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2Pe 2:2 Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.2Pe 2:3 In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
    2Pe 2:4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, 2 putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment;

Scott Dalgarno – PLease note that GOD IS A JEALOUS GOD and he shares himself and his godliness with NO ONE and NOTHING – He is God and there is NO OTHER – your suggestion of tolerance with the antichrist is unblievable – and to some how suggest that you are saving lives is the pinnacle of hypocrisy – Christ himself warned us – Whosoever wants to save his life will lose it Mark 8:35 – I consider laying down my life for someone who laid his life down for me first an honor and a privledge – What has darkness got to do with light or righteosness – It is like a man once said – If you stand for nothing you fall for anything and everything – I truely pray that you and your church would turn back to the ONE and ONLY GOD that died for you and offers forgiveness to those who confess his name and his name alone

Ex 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before me. Ex 20:4 “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.Ex 20:5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me

    Scott Dalgarno :

Well, as you can see from my remark about the Book of Mormon, whether there is truth in the Qur’an is entirely beside the point. A judgment on that came from Terry Jones and it got innocent aid workers killed. In the wake of his disaster we are trying to support our troops, not endanger them.

With all due respect Mr. Dalgarno, it is not entirely beside the point. We can eat food that is 99% healthy, and just 1% poison. But the good food cannot save the body when the poison destroys it. You may not be “afraid of truth wherever it can be found”, but what about the poison that is laced throughout its pages? If the Qur’an were even 50% truth, what effect will the other 50% that is venomous have upon the soul?

Although Terry Jones should not have given Islamists another ‘excuse’ among the myriad they claim to already have to attack non-Muslims, what is ultimately to blame here? The actions of one obscure man at a small church in Florida, or the hateful words of a book that commands its adherents to “Kill disbelievers wherever you find them”, a book that unequivocally tells its followers to “Take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: they are but friends and protectors to each other. And he among you that turns to them for friendship is of them”, a book of ‘truth’ that teaches those who believe in it to “cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve”? (Qur’an Surah 2:191a, 5:51, 3:151).

In the wake of this disaster we do not support our troops by buying copies of the Qur’an, calling it ‘truth’ and then donating them to a bookshop were it can potentially corrupt the minds and souls of susceptible readers with the very same ideology that puts our troops in danger. Rather, in the wake of this disaster we support our troops by standing firm in the faith that was delivered to the Saints, we stand firm by bending our knees in prayer, praying not only for the men and women in uniform that are fighting against oppression and tyranny that, in the name of Islam, seeks to destroy Western civilization as we know it, but also for all those of the Muslim faith that are earnestly seeking for a glimmer of light in a world of darkness, for hope in an era seemingly replete with hopelessness, that they might find the embodiment of Truth — Jesus Christ, and Him crucified (Matt 5:44; John 3:16, 14:6).

It is one’s duty as a shepherd of God’s flock to feed the sheep. But calling the Qur’an ‘truth’ is feeding them a toxic blend that will serve nothing but to confuse and destroy. I encourage you to review Acts 20:28-30 and James 3:1, and to meditate upon those words. I am sure you would agree, they are … Truth.

As one who isn’t afraid of truth wherever it can be found, please take a moment to enjoy the following video:

That “Shariamerica” video is sharp–I suppose that guy has done others? Time for bed now, but I’ll look out for more of him. But what sadly ironic truths he points out.

Political correctness is destroying America. Islam is an ideology which seeks to take over the world. While it is true that a small percentage of Muslims commit violent jihad, jihad comes in many forms. Soft jihad has come to America under the guise of non-profit organizations, such as the Holy Land Foundation. Research and learn. Creeping sharia has entered our courts with no less than 50 lawsuits having been ruled in favor of Muslims over the Constitution. Creeping sharia seeks to undermine and ultimately, destroy the Constitution. Representative Keith Ellison (MN) is directly affiliated with CAIR, a terrorist organization. Ask yourselves why Congress would permit someone with this connection to infiltrate our government. CAIR has perfected the art of filing lawsuits whenever they feel a Muslim has been wronged, yet Christians are under assault in America, including not being permitted to thank God at a graduation ceremony. Wake up, people. We are losing our country and our churches have fallen prey to an enemy that hates our way of life.
