NBC’s Engel ‘Worried’ About ‘Ferociously Anti-Israel’ Arab Street and Concludes ‘This Thing Ends in Jerusalem’

04/25/2011 10 comments

NBC correspondent Richard Engel has a feeling that the Arab world is on a collision course with Israel that ‘ends in Jerusalem’ with a major war in a few years.  Gee, ya think?

By Brad Wilmouth – “On Wednesday’s NBC Nightly News, chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel informed viewers that he is ‘worried’ that a major war between some of the Arab countries and Israel could be in the not too distant future because of the ‘ferociously anti-Israel’ sentiment of the ‘Arab street’ that is likely to gain power in countries like Egypt. He ended up concluding: ‘But I think, over time, this thing ends in Jerusalem.’

After host Brian Williams and Engel had discussed the likely prosecution of former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak, and the disappointment of Libyan rebels at the level of assistance to their cause supplied by NATO, Williams posed the question: ‘You’re back here in New York for a few days. The question I’ve seen most people ask you: Where does this all end?’

Engel sounded more pessimistic than he did during the protests in Egypt from January and February. Engel:

This whole movement in the Middle East, and I’m worried about it because while people in the region deserve more rights and they want more rights and they’re embracing more of the will of the Arab street, well, the will of the Arab street is also ferociously anti-Israel, against Israel.” Read more.

Don’t Like a Weak Dollar? Might as Well Get Used to It

By Jeff Cox – “Weakness in the US dollar, which is causing everything to go up—including gas prices, food and stocks—is unlikely to go away soon as a selling frenzy hits the currency market.

The greenback is approaching pre-financial crisis lows and threatening to smash through its all-time low when measured against the world’s predominant national currencies.

A combination of factors accounts for the weakness, with the Federal Reserve’s easy-money policies, huge national debts and deficits and the consequential possibility of a debt downgrade because of the financial mess in Washington leading the way.

In short, as trader Dennis Gartman noted Thursday, ‘the rout of the US dollar’ is in full effect.”  Read more.

Islam Is Fire

By Amil Imani – “The Islamic fire, fueled by immense oil income, is raging in certain regions of the world, smoldering in others, and is ready to ignite in yet other parts of the world. It is imperative for the free people of the world to abandon all illusions about Islam and put out its fire, once and for all.

Multiculturalism, live and-let live, is a delusion of kind-hearted naïve people. Islam, as fractured as it is, is a non-compromising monoculture; a cruel culture of a primitive people handed down by Muhammad some 1400 years ago…

Islam essentially invents the idea that Christians, Jews, and pagans are abominations and offensive to Allah, and that their very existence represents an attack upon the self-defined Islamic right to reign over the world. Allah thus enlists Muslim believers to eradicate by force those who offend him and by disbelieving, prevent his rule. True Muslim believers therefore become the enforcers, hit men and mercenaries for their god, in order to establish a global Caliphate for their parasitic clergy.” Read more.

The two men were arrested and briefly imprisoned in Oran on April 14 after sharing their Christian faith with their neighbors.

“Bomb blasts have killed at least three people in northeast Nigeria, police said Monday, in the latest unrest to hit Africa’s most populous nation after presidential elections and ahead of state governorship polls.

Police also said at least 15 were wounded, adding they suspected the Islamist sect known as Boko Haram was behind the attacks on Easter Sunday night at a hotel tavern and transport hub in Maiduguri, as well as a third one on Monday morning…

Boko Haram had distributed fliers earlier on Sunday warning of further attacks, saying ‘we are fighters waging jihad in Nigeria.’

‘We will never accept any system of governance apart from the one described by Islam because that is the only way Muslims can be liberated … We will continue to fight its military and police because they are not protecting Islam.'”  Read more.

Libya Ripe for Jihad’s Rallying Cries

By Sally Neighbour – “AS the military and humanitarian quagmire in Libya deepens, a clarion call has gone out to followers of the global jihadist movement in the West.

‘Who wants to join the mujahidin? The gates of jihad are open in Libya!’ declares a message posted on a pro al-Qa’ida internet forum monitored by Western analysts.

The message – and countless others like it – has set off alarms in counter-terrorism circles in the West, as al-Qa’ida and its allies move to exploit the foment in the Arab world, seizing on the conflict in Libya as a new cause celebre for Islamic militants. And as yesterday’s WikiLeaks release shows, al-Qa’ida suspects freed from Guantanamo Bay are at work in Libya.”  Read more.

Japan Scientist: Fukushima is ‘Graver than Chernobyl … No One Can Predict How the Situation Will Develop’

“TOKYO, April 25 (UPI) — Radiation leaks remain a health threat for areas around Japan’s crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant, officials said.

The crisis at the plant resulted from an earthquake and tsunami March 11.

Some experts believe the Fukushima crisis is more serious than that resulting from an explosion at Ukraine’s Chernobyl power plant 25 years ago, the Mainichi Daily News reported Monday.

‘It’s graver than Chernobyl in that no one can predict how the situation will develop,’ said Atsushi Kasai, a former senior researcher with the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute.

In addition to danger from leaking radioactivity, Japanese citizens are also at risk of psychological illnesses, officials said.”  Read more.

The Devolution of Beach Safety – Bacteria Scare Closes Popular Darwin Beaches

04/25/2011 Leave a comment

By James Glenday – “Tests have found dangerous levels of harmful bacteria in the water at two popular Darwin beaches, causing their closure as tourists and locals flock to the recreation area of East Point.

Both Lake Alexander and nearby East Point beach are officially closed but many people are ignoring advice and taking the plunge.

Darwin City Council tests early last month found bacteria levels on the beach were seven times more than the amount considered dangerous.

The most recent test from the Lake Alexander spillway was nearly double the dangerous amount.

Council water testers say human or animal faeces are responsible for the bacteria but they do not know where it is coming from.” Read more.

Obama Commemorates All Muslim Holidays, But Skips Christianity’s Most Sacred

04/25/2011 2 comments

“President Obama failed to release a statement or a proclamation recognizing the national observance of Easter Sunday, Christianity’s most sacred holiday.

By comparison, the White House has released statements recognizing the observance of major Muslim holidays and released statements in 2010 on Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Hajj, and Eid-ul-Adha.

The White House also failed to release a statement marking Good Friday. However, they did release an eight-paragraph statement heralding Earth Day. Likewise, the president’s weekend address mentioned neither Good Friday or Easter.

However, the First Family did attend an Easter Sunday worship service at a Baptist church and last week, the president hosted an Easter breakfast for Christian ministers. In that gathering, the president spoke openly about the Christian faith.

And today, the president and first lady will host 30,000 people for the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. The secular celebration of Easter includes readings, games, and a yoga garden. This year’s theme, ‘Get Up and Go!’ is part of the first lady’s anti-obesity campaign and will also display produce from the White House garden.”  Read more.
