7 Wounded in Easter Bombing Outside Baghdad Church
By SAAD ABDUL-KADIR – “BAGHDAD – At least seven people were injured when a bomb outside the entrance of a Baghdad church exploded on Easter Sunday, an Iraqi police official said.
The blast took place just yards (meters) from the Sacred Heart Church in Baghdad’s Karradah neighborhood. Shrapnel from the bomb struck the outside of the building, and at least four of the church’s windows were shattered. Shards of broken glass lay on the street in front of the building.
Like many Baghdad houses of worship, the church is surrounded by blast walls to protect it from such attacks.
The officer said no parishioners were inside and services had not been held in the building.” Read more.

Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt: Prepare for an Islamic Government
“The role of the Muslim Brotherhood is to mobilize the nation to establish a way of life based on Islam, said its Deputy Supreme Guide Khairat al-Shater.
Speaking at a conference in Alexandria two days ago, Shater further said that the group is preparing to initiate an Islamic government to achieve progress based on Islamic principles, and that its objective is to establish an Islamic state and become world leaders.
Pointing out that no Sunni state currently has a regime with Islamic references, he urged Muslim scholars to contribute an workable, comprehensive, civilized Islamic model.

Survivors Say Over 60 People Buried Alive in Philippines’ Landslide
“PANTUKAN, Philippines, April 24 (Xinhua) — Survivors of the avalanche of mud in Philippines said Sunday over 60 people were buried alive in Friday’s landslide, and the number could be higher than what authorities had thought of.
Lambert Detros, 47, a small scale miner who suffered bruises and was confined at a local hospital, told Xinhua on Sunday that more than 60 people sleeping in tents were on site when the tragedy occurred.
‘More than 60 people were in the area when the landslide happened. I saw them before night time,’ Detros said in Filipino.
‘Stones rolling from hill woke me up. I look from my tent’s window and saw mud everywhere. I hurriedly ran but I was trapped. Later, my relatives pulled me from the mud,’ Detros added.” Read more.
Thousands of Fish Deaths Reported at Marcoola Beach in Australia
By Nikkii Joyce – “MYSTERY surrounds the discovery of thousands of dead fish which littered Marcoola Beach on Friday.
Local woman Lisa Perry took several photographs of the dead fish, including some 18cm whiting.
The majority she found on her 2km walk past the surf club at 4pm were pilchards.
‘There were thousands of them,’ Ms Perry said.
‘When people saw me start taking photographs they came up and asked me if I knew what they were and what had happened.'” Read more.
